Prewriting

Tompkins (2001) noted that the most difficult process of

writing is prewriting stage.
The first process of writing
Usually begins with motivation and audience awareness.
Taking time to complete this step is important because it

helps with gathering and preparing everything you need for

the subsequent writing steps.
In this stage, spend time brainstorming and conducting

research to understand your topic better and gather relevant

information.

Prewriting

> Prewriting techniques consists of:
Interviewing
Questioning
Making a list
Clustering
Looping

> Consider subject, audience and purpose of writing
> To collect the raw material that will fuel the writing process
> Understanding the conventions of text type
> Gathering up facts, opinions, ideas, data through reasearch

and discussion
> Organizing resources and planning out the writing process

Drafting

The beginning of "writing"
Select relevant information from what you have

researched and put it into your own words
Draft rough outline to organize information
Use mind map to jot down the important content and

idea to write essay
Simply the idea on the draft paper
Make drafting as a simple as ABC so that the idea is

clear and easy to make the next step
Let your writing flow

Revising

Read the essay you have written atleast twice to

avoid mistakes
Think about what others might say about it
Rearrange words and sentences
Make each sentence as concise and accurate as

possible
Take out or add parts
Replace overused or unclear words
Make connections between ideas explicit and

clear
Read aloud to make sure it flows smoothly

Editing

Check the spelling or grammar
Ensure all the sentences are complete
If does not have mistakes, can start to write

essay
Do not edit writing until the others steps in

writing process are complete
We must have someone to check our work
Recopy it correctly and neatly

Publishing

After editing completed, you have to

publish your work
Hand in your final product to teacher
Our work is publishing so that people

can see it in public
People can judge and comment on

our writing
