GRAPHIC DESIGN VS ILLUSTRATION VS
GRAPHIC ILLUSTRATION
Both graphic design and illustration have
their own set of techniques, mediums and
artistic goals. It’s easiest to think of grap
hic design for its commercial motivation,
while illustration takes the fine art route.
WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN
THEM?
The main difference between grap
hic design and illustration is how
and where you use them. Typically, graphic design leans more
commercial, while illustration is related to fine art. As more and more
commercial projects often require emotive and distinct visuals, those
differences are becoming less obvious over time.

FOR THE PAST SEVERAL YEARS, OCREATIONS HAS BEEN THE DESIGN TEAM FOR
THE PITTSBURGH IRISH FESTIVAL. EACH YEAR, THERE IS A NEW THEME, AND
EACH YEAR WE HAVE TO ILLUSTRATE THAT THEME. HERE ARE SOME SAMPLES
OF DESIGNS FROM THE PAST FEW YEARS OF THE PITTSBURGH IRISH FESTIVAL.

THE MACINTOSH ALSO PUSHED THE SECTOR FORWARD, ALLOWING PEOPLE
TO USE ADOBE PHOTOSHOP AND ILLUSTRATOR ON A DAILY BASIS.
SINCE THEN, DIGITAL ILLUSTRATION HAS CONTINUED TO DEVELOP AND
GROW EXPONENTIALLY ONLINE. NOT ONLY DID THE TOOLS BECOME
ACCESSIBLE, BUT THE INTERNET MADE IT POSSIBLE FOR ILLUSTRATORS,
DESIGNERS, AND ARTISTS TO REACH MORE PEOPLE.
Everyone knows now that there a multiple apps & programs used to create
digital art to many reasons like marketing business or personal use. In this era
we’ve come into an age where everything is being digitized including art,
branching out from traditional art to take advantage of the technology that has
been created. However, not many people realize how limited this advancement
was back when computers were still being developed. In the early days,
computers were still limited using mathematical formulas, storing information,
communications and creating programs.

BOUNDARIES OF LANGUAGE. IT'S STILL USED IN THE
MODERN WORLD THROUGH WEATHER FORECASTS, MAPS
AND CLOTHES LABELS, MAKING IT A VITAL TOOL FOR THE
DIGITAL AGE.
Retailers were on the lookout for ways to drive deeper consumer engagement
with their brand and ensure their bricks and mortar retail stores remained an
important destination, as online shopping continues to increase in
popularity.Using illustration online really enhances a consumer’s shopping
experience and gives them a lasting memory of their day. It surprises them and it
sparks creativity. Consumers could potentially remain cautious of reverting back
to their old behaviours so reassurance, kindness and adding value above and
beyond the shopping experience is going to be key to the recovery of the high
street. It’s time for retailers to get creative.
Asking the teenagers to illustrate a mascot which
represents themselves, they had to consider what really
represents 'me' and then manipulate the image
appropriately. It's a very thought provoking task for young
people.
Just as illustration has transformed from biblical
representations into satirical imagery, it will change again.
Product advertising illustrations are graphic images that clarify text, direct the viewer's
eye, and create a lasting impression. The visual’s goal is to enhance the message of the
text it accompanies, and attract the viewer to read the text. The image should persuade
potential customers to purchase the product as well as maintain its awareness to the
general public. Many product advertising illustrations have become contemporary
cultural icons.
An editorial illustration is an artwork that sits alongside a text in a
magazine, journal, newspaper or online platform with the intention to
reflect and build on the words in order to convey an idea or theme.
Covering wide ranging topics from social justice to book reviews. Some
editorial illustrations may illustrate a scene, moment, or narrative, but
for now we’re going to focus on artwork that has a conceptual edge.
An article about sensory processing disorder; a medical
condition in which people affected can perceive touch to
feel like sand paper, a gentle glow to feel like a spotlight, and
everyday sounds to hurt.
Technical illustration is a field that involves creating drawings that represent complex,
specialized concepts. Technical illustrations can represent either physical objects or
concepts using symbols and labels. Drawing technical illustrations is a great way to
describe information in a visual format to either supplement text or explain concepts that
are difficult to represent with words.
A blueprint is a two-dimensional set of
drawings that provides a detailed visual
representation of how an architect wants
a building to look. Blueprints typically
specify a building's dimensions,
construction materials, and the exact
placement of all its components
Digital illustration is essentially the use of digital tools, such as a mouse or tablet, in
combination with drawing software, such as Corel Painter, to create an illustration.
With the universal appeal of digital illustration, an artist can now look at a blank
canvas in a whole new light.
