1.0 History of the Firm

A T GOH ARCHITECT (Board of Architect Malaysia, Practice Registration no.: SP/G 45) is an
architectural consultancy practice in Malaysia established in year 2011. It is a sole
proprietorship practice with it principal, Ar. Dr. Goh Ai Tee (Board of Architect Malaysia
Professional Architect Registration no.: A/G 45, since 2004). A T GOH ARCHITECT believes
a successful building work resulting from continuation in research for particular subject of
study and with constant improvement in the ways of conduct, dedicated teamwork which
include active collaboration with Clients, Stakeholders, Consultants and Contractors.
Great sensitivity in design, research, management and maintenance of buildings has shaped
A T GOH ARCHITECT to become more design oriented and management firm overtime. The
firm provides wide range of architectural consultancy services in Malaysia.
Ar. Dr. GOH has special interest on ‘Housing’ and ‘Heritage’.
She obtained her PhD in year 2010 from University of Liverpool titled ‘Potential of courtyard
housing as solution for creating family housing in urban area in the UK’. While, her MSc
research study in year 2007 focusing on if high rise low-cost flats solution for creating urban
housing of no so well-do-to in Malaysia. Upon returning to Malaysia, she has involved in
various housing maintenance and management projects with aim to develop greater
understanding on housing issues in Malaysia. Since year 2019, she has developed various
type of experimental low-rise high density housing to test out the density, design, size, and
spatial quality with aim to create a high-density low-rise affordable urban family housing for
Malaysia.
The quality of space, inner environment and spatial arrangement in court type buildings in
Malaysia has led to her research on the Chinese Shop House typology, Oldest Chinese
Temple in Johor and Blue Mansion in Penang during her under graduate study. She has
participated in community led heritage conservation project in Fez, Morocco in year 2009,
then assisting in 3D modelling for 5 historical public baths in MENA cities in year 2010.
Between 2011 and 2013, she works on Heritage Rehabilitation Projects in Saudi Arabia, and
participated in community building workshops in Penang. In year 2015, she attended the
workshop on Safeguarding Outstanding Universal Values in Penang. After joining ICOMOS
Malaysia in year 2015, she has been actively participating in the ICOMOS ISC SBH study
tours. In year 2020, She starts to explore the possibility to create a sustaining solution for
management and maintenance of heritage school development in Malaysia, thus take lead to
Heritage School Rehabilitation Program as one of the ICOMOS Malaysia EP Program.
