Music is a fantastically powerful and influential art form.
Many of us have experienced music’s ability to affect
our mood or emotions, but have you ever wondered
what playing a musical instrument can do for our health
and wellbeing?

From the age of just one, children who participate
in musical activities which focus on percussion and
melody exhibit refined early communication skills, and
display greater emotional stability than children who did
not engage in musical activity [1].

Older children also benefit significantly from playing
music and participating in music classes.

A 2011 study found pre-school aged children’s verbal, cognitive and spatial skills significantly improved due
to their engagement in music classes when compared to children their own age who were not involved in
such music programs [2].

In addition to its value in aiding childhood development, music is also a wonderful emotional regulator; no
matter your age.

Studies have shown music can reliably generate the
physical responses associated with happiness, sadness
and fear. For example, up-tempo music in a major key
generally results in the listener experiencing the physical
changes associated with pleasure [3].

Research has found that singing as part of a group is
beneficial in building empathy, trust and relationships
with other people through the release of a hormone
called Oxytocin.

Musical group performance also reduces your sensitivity
to pain, and can help regulate mood thanks to the
release of the anti-stress hormone, Cortisol [4].

As we age, it is just as important to keep our mind
healthy, as well as our body. For example, music
instrument therapy has been used successfully in
rehabilitation for stroke sufferers as well as assisting
patients in regaining spatial awareness [5].

Research shows that exercising the brain helps slow
cognitive aging, and helps prevent Alzheimer’s [6]; and
nothing exercises and transforms the brain quite like
playing a musical instrument [7]!

While learning a musical instrument may take a little
longer later in life, the benefits are unequivocally worth
the effort.

At Timberidge we are guitar players just like you, and just like you, we are
passionate about guitars.

Timberidge is a solely Australian owned brand. All the guitars you see
in this brochure have been created with Australian players in mind.
Many of the models and features have come about by talking and
listening to various players around the country.
Timber needs to move and vibrate naturally. Correctly built
and well-braced guitars allow the real tonal quality of the
timber to be heard. Our bracing patterns are designed to let
the wood do just that.
Timeridge use specially designed laminated neck blocks,
which provide extra stability and minimises fret board
movement over time.
We boast a wide variety of body shapes including Acoustic
Basses, TS-Mini Short Scale Acoustics and Mini Travellers.

Some models now incorporate the new ‘game-changing’ range

To complement the fine instruments in the Timberidge Classic range we have incorporated the
new ‘game-changing’ Supernatural pickup & pre-amp system.
The Supernatural pickup is designed and manufactured by famed Australian guitar maker, pickup
designer and instrument manufacturing icon Brad Clark, to produce the most authentic amplified
acoustic guitar tone possible. Brad was instrumental in the early days of Maton’s acoustic pickup
development, ushering in a new era of influential pickups made famous by artists such as Tommy
Emmanuel.
In 2001, Brad opened a manufacturing facility in Melbourne, Australia (Cole Clark), once again
revolutionising pickup and guitar design.
Now residing in China, Brad specialises in the design and manufacture of a new generation
of pickup systems so advanced that they render the old standards obsolete: The Brad Clark
Supernatural Pickup.
Timberidge is proud to include the Supernatural pickups across the entire Timberidge Classic range, allowing
