Summer Learning for ALL

Education Equity Rationale in Support of Summer Learning Opportunities

● Achievement and proficiency declines up to one month’s worth of school year
learning

● Achievement gap is enlarged and even more so in areas of STEM

● More pronounced at the secondary levels (middle and high schools) and
within high-poverty/high-minority communities

Education Equity Rationale in Support of Summer Learning Opportunities
● Learning loss = the Achievement Gap2

● Comprehensive review of benchmark and diagnostic student data to identify learning

loss/achievement gap areas

● Learning loss programming will be built out over a minimum of two school year

calendars beginning with summer 2020-2021 planning

● Regular school year and extended programming will focus on learning loss recovery

and acceleration for all students
