1 6THI SCU2024ISCU 2024 04 Chair of Organizing Committee Associate Professor Sr Dr. Saipol Bari Abd Karim CQS FRISM MESSAGE FROM 16thRISM InternationalSurveying ConferenceforUndergraduates (ISCU)2024 THE CHAIR OF ORGANISING COMMITTEE It is a great pleasure for me to extend a warm welcome to all the participants of the 16th RISM International Surveying Conference for Undergraduates (ISCU) 2024. This year marks the 16th series of ISCU and we are honoured to organise this event with Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM) as the host, with the theme “Sustainable Digitalised World: Charting the Future of Surveying Professionals”. In this digitalised world, technology is used in a way that promotes environmental, social, and economic sustainability. The use of digitalized technology has revolutionised professional surveying practices across various industries, offering numerous benefits covering the aspects. This includes the surveying tools such as GPS receivers and laser scanners that provide high accuracy measurements and data. It also helps in streamlining data collection and processing workflows, reducing time and labour to complete the project. Achieving a sustainable digitalized world requires collaboration among governments, businesses, civil society, and individuals. It involves leveraging the transformative potential of digital technologies while ensuring that their deployment aligns with long-term environmental, social, and economic goals. I certainly hope that this conference will be able to explore the talent, and drive the innovation among our young surveyors, encapsulating the idea of planning and strategizing for the direction we wish to take, especially in the face of uncertainty or rapid change. Lastly, I would like to express my gratitude and appreciation to all members of the Organizing Committee, RISM Secretariat, Host University and all who were involved for their dedication and commitment to ensure the success of this 16th ISCU and made this event a joyful and memorable experience.
