University Collaboration Following the successful collaboration amongst stakeholders and beneficiaries in this mandate, UTHM also plan to formalise partnerships with other universities from Indonesia and Lao PDR that participated in this mandate so that they can continue to transfer knowledge and advocate for the adoption of WTE technologies in local communities in their respective countries. They intend to commence the partnership with a WTE forum/seminar. Such collaboration allows the continued learning from each others accomplishments and challenges and creates a SWM and WTE adoption network across South East Asia. Such a network can continue to grow with other universities, further benefiting and enhancing WTE adoption. Figure 13 UTHM and UNRIKA representatives at the Benowo, Surabaya WTE Facility Site Visit
GHD | Cowater International Inc | 12557967 | Knowledge Transfer on the Application of Waste to Energy Technologies 44 In Partnership with: As can be observed, there are multiple positive story of change cases from this mandate. To conclude, refer below the testimonial from the UTHM beneficiary on the mandate experience. Dr. Seow Ta Wee, UTHM, Centre of Sustainable Infrastructure and Environmental Management: “The mandate was a very positive experience and provided learnings on many areas of solid waste management and waste to energy. It was great to achieve insights into the technical, environmental, and social components of WTE through the training and then see some of this theory in practice with the site visits. From the training and the site visits, many avenues of further training and networking has been established with further site visits at the Bukit Tagar Sanitary Landfill being explored, and relationships being strengthened with universities in other locations and jurisdictions. Overall, we are very grateful for the mandate and the opportunity it has provided for our team members and fellow beneficiaries in Malaysia. We hope to continue the momentum and continue to gain from the executed mandate.
