INVITING ALL GENERATIONS INTO A GROWING LIFE WITH JESUS CHRIST
The Gathering
CALL TO WORSHIP Deuteronomy 31:6, †CEB
Be strong! Be fearless! Don’t be afraid and don’t be scared by your enemies, because
the Lord your God is the one who marches with you. He won’t let you down, and he
won’t abandon you.
OPENING SONG
Hymn 69 I, the Lord of Sea and Sky (Here I Am, Lord)
I, the Lord of sea and sky,
I have heard my people cry.
All who dwell in dark and sin
my hand will save.
I, who made the stars of night,
I will make their darkness bright.
Who will bear my light to them?
Whom shall I send?
Refrain:
Here I am, Lord.
Is it I, Lord?
I have heard you calling in the night.
I will go, Lord, if you lead me.
I will hold your people in my heart.
I, the Lord of snow and rain,
I have borne my people’s pain.
I have wept for love of them.
They turn away.
I will break their hearts of stone,
give them hearts for love alone.
I will speak my word to them.
Whom shall I send?
[Refrain]
I, the Lord of wind and flame,
I will tend the poor and lame.
I will set a feast for them.
My hand will save.
Finest bread I will provide
till their hearts be satisfied.
I will give my life to them.
Whom shall I send?
[Refrain]
The Confession
CALL TO CONFESSION Pastor Stephen Kellough
PRAYER OF CONFESSION
God of all generations,
we confess that we have sinned against you and against one another.
Our lives have not fully reflected your vision of a beloved community.
Forgive us when we allow fear to overtake our thoughts and decisions.
Empower our faith in Jesus,
who has overcome the world and in whose name we pray.
Please continue in silent prayer for confession of personal matters.
DECLARATION OF GOD’S PARDON
The Word
WORD IN SONG Lover of My Soul
by Jonathan Caleb McReynolds
Their human bones are as fragile as mine
I have my flaws but they have the same kind
I was ashamed ‘cause I couldn’t see
That grace says that they’re in the same boat as me
And What I lack You are full of
And where I’m broken You are whole
And what I’m doubting You are sure of
So I’ll trust the lover the lover of my soul
So I’m not afraid of the arrows by day
Nor the darkness that comes when the sun rolls away
Lord You know that my strength never lasts
But You make up for ev’ry weakness I have
What I confess You will cover
And what I let go You’ll control
Lord my hope is in no other
I’ll trust the lover the lover of my soul

Prayer of Thanksgiving
Lord’s Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name.
Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
