The Confession

CALL TO CONFESSION Pastor Greg Anderson

PRAYER OF CONFESSION

Holy God, hear our prayer:
For the mending of our hearts, torn apart by our unkindness;
For the healing of our souls, troubled by the despair around us;
For the forgiveness we seek for the sin we have allowed to persist;
For the reconciliation of the world, whose division condemns us;
We pray for the courage to admit our fault,
The strength to amend our actions,
And the hope that your grace awaits us.
Through Christ we pray.

Please continue in silent prayer for confession of personal matters.

D ECLARATION OF GOD’S PARDON
Leader: Friends, believe the good news of the gospel.
People: In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven.

CHURCH LIFE

May 1, 2022

The Heart of the Church – Part 2

9:00 and 10:30 a.m.
Why do people go to church? Over the past few years, our rhythms and routines

for attending church have been interrupted. As many people reengage in the
church, this series shows what the scriptures say about why we need a
church family. During the series, Pastor Kellen will uncover the
irreplaceable benefits you receive by being part of a church family.
Ephesians 3:20-21, 5:25-27; Matthew 16:13-20
Livestream at 10:30

firstpreswheaton.org/livestream
Communion This Morning – Communion elements will be provided to those

worshipping in person. In preparation for receiving communion at home, we encourage
you to gather your favorite bread and a small cup of juice in advance of the 10:30 a.m.
livestream start time. In the event that you are unable to collect your own elements, just
participate as you are able.

Church Family,

Grace and peace to you during this Eastertide. In this season of renewal, I want to share some
great news. We recently hired two new staff people for important roles at First Pres Wheaton.

Stacey Chvatal has been hired as the Director of Kids Ministry. She will bring vibrant energy and
wonderful ideas to grow the kids ministry and help families with young children become more
connected in the life of the church. Stacey has been part of the Kids Ministry Team for several
years now. She has grown up at First Pres, is married to Johnny, and has three children at home.

Melissa Coyne has been hired as the next Director of the First Pres Preschool. She has worked
as a preschool teacher for eight years and served as Assistant Director over the past year.
Melissa also grew up at First Pres, is married to Bryan, and has two daughters.

Please join me in congratulating Stacey and Melissa as we welcome them to our staff team.
I’m grateful to the HR Committee and Kids Ministry Team for helping with this process.

As we look ahead, on Sunday, May 22 we will also celebrate Chandra Gravit’s 20 years of
ministry during worship, and I hope you will attend. We give immense thanks to God for her
two decades of service to our church. If you would like to make a donation to First Pres
Preschool/Kids Ministry in Chandra’s honor, funds collected will be used for church playground
enhancements. Donations may be made at firstpreswheaton.org/onlinegiving and selecting the
“Chandra Gravit Appreciation” fund or by mailing in a check putting her name in the memo.

Thank you for your prayers and support of our congregation.

Blessings,
Pastor Kellen
