Drama: Aeschylus

the Ancient Greeks took their entertainment very seriously and used drama as a way of investigating
the word they lived in and what it mean to be human. Three genres of drama were comedy, satyr, plays
and most importantly tragedy. Aeschylus was the father of tragedy he was known for Greek tragedy.
One of many quotes he had said was “Wisdom comes alone through suffering”.

Poetry: Homer lliad and the Odyssey

Homer was a legendary author for his two epic poems which are the central works on ancient Greece
literature. Ancient Greece literature was emphasis. Some people could only express themselves in
poetry.

History: Thucydides

History is important because without it we wouldn’t be able to know about they past.
Thucydides was a Athenian historic and general. His History of the Pelopennisian War
reccounts the 5th century BC

Sculpture: Phidias

Phidias was a greek sculpture, painter, and architect. His stature of Zeus at Olympia was one of the seven
wonders. The ancient Greeks took their inspiration from the human form. It became the basis
for Greek art and architecture as well as the driving force behind mythology and philosophy .

Architecture: Doric (Parthenon), Ionic, and Corinthian

There are three distinct orders in Ancient Greek architecture: Doric, Ionic, and Corinthian. These three
were adopted by the Romans, who modified their capitals. The Roman adoption of the Greek orders
took place in the 1st century BC. The architecture of ancient Greece is the architecture produced by the
Greek-speaking people (Hellenic people) whose culture flourished on the Greek mainland

Science: Archimedes

Archimedes of Syracuse was a Greek mathematician, physicist, engineer, inventor, and astronomer.

Science in Ancient Greece was based on logical thinking and mathematics

Mathematics: Euclid

Euclid of Megara, was a Greek mathematician, often referred to as the "founder of geometry" or the
"father of geometry" The mathematicians of ancient Greece made a hugely significant contribution to
world thought and all practical subjects which depend on that intellectual basis, from geometry to
engineering, astronomy to design

Philosophy: Aristotle

Aristotle was an ancient Greek philosopher and scientist born in the city of Stagira, Chalkidice, on the
northern periphery of Classical Greece. Philosophy was used to make sense out of the world in a non-
religious way. Ancient Greek philosophy arose in the 6th century BC and continued throughout the
Hellenistic period and the period in which Ancient Greece was part of the Roman Empire.
