2 Answer all the questions All diagrams are not drawn to scale. 1. A sum of money is to be shared among 3 children : Alex, Joseph and Timothy. Alex received $96, Joseph received two-thirds of Alex’s share and Timothy received twice Joseph’s share. Calculate (a) the total sum of money [2m] (b) the ratio of Alex’s share to Joseph’s share [1m] (c) the ratio of Alex’s share to Joseph’s share to Timothy’s share. [2m] 2. Wayne bought 3 bottles of wine at $12.50 per bottle, 5 packets of flour at $3.50 per packet and 3 trays of eggs at $2.80 per tray. The GST taxed is 7%. (a) Calculate his total bill, inclusive of GST, correct to 2 decimal places. [3m] (b) If the GST taxed is increased to 10%, calculate the percentage increase in his total bill, correct to 3significant figures. [3m] 3. The bar graph shows the weight of Mary and Jane over a period of 5 months. Use the bar graph to answer the following questions. (a) What is Mary’s weight in April? [1m] (b) What is the difference in weight between Mary and Jane in January? [1m]


3 (c) Calculate the average rate of Mary’s weight loss per month. [2m] (d) If Mary’s ideal weight is 46 , can she reach her ideal weight by October? Explain your answer, supported by calculations. [2m] 4. In the diagram below, PQR is a straight line and TQ is the angle bisector of ∠PQS. Find the values of (a) [2m] (b) [2m] (c) [2m] 5. The figure shows a diagram of a building. The top part is a triangle. The bottom part is a trapezium. These two parts are joined by a rectangle and two semicircles in the middle. The perpendicular height of the triangle and trapezium is 12 and 19 respectively. Take = 3.14. (a) Calculate the perimeter of the figure. 4 6. The diagram shows the distance-time graphs of the journey of Alice, from Ipoh to Taiping, and Sharon, from Taiping to Ipoh. (a) How long did it take for Alice to reach Taiping from Ipoh if she set off at 1000? [1m] (b) How many times did Alice stop for the entire journey after she set off at 1000? [1m] (c) State the time for which they were at the same distance away from Taiping. [1m] (d) Calculate Sharon’s average speed for the entire journey. [2m] (e) What was Alice’s speed for the journey from 1330 to 1400? [2m]


5 7. A toy puzzle block looks like the diagram below. The block is made up of a cuboid and two cylinders as protrusions. All protrusions have a thickness of 0.5 . Take = 3.142. (a) Calculate (i) the volume of the cuboid, [2m] (ii) the volume of 2 cylinders, [2m] (iii) the total volume of the puzzle block. [2m] (b) Calculate the total surface area of the puzzle block.
