Once upon a time, on a beautiful day, to be
specific July 4th, 1776. Benjamin franklin,
thomas jefferson,john hancock, john adams,
John penn, william hooper, stephen hopkins,
george walton, and many more, wrote a
document to declare independence for
America. It declares freedom for the new
thirteen american colonies that broke away
from great britain's rule. It was made so
that it could officially stop great britain to
rule the new thirteen colonies.

The colonists did this because they did
not like how the king was treating them, so
this was a way to fight against great
britain. The colonists thought that the king
was a tyrant, which means a cruel or
oppressive ruler. On july 4th, 1776, john
hancock was the first one to sign the
declaration of independence.

There are three branches that
make up the united states
government, they are the
legislative branch, executive
branch, and the judicial branch.
All three of these branches make
up our government.

Legislative Branch

The legislative branch is one of the branches
that make up our government. You can also
call this branch the congress. The congress is
made up of two parts, the house of
representatives, and the senate. This branch’s
job is to write up and to vote on laws. They
also have to power to declare war, confirming
presidential appointments for like the
supreme court and the cabinet, and
investigating power

Executive Branch

The executive branch is
another branch that makes up
the government. The president
is in charge of this branch. This
branch is responsible for
implementing, supporting, and
enforcing the laws. The
president enforces the laws
that the congress wrote up.

Judicial Branch

The judicial branch is the
third and final branch that
makes up our government.
This branch is made up of
judges and courts. This
branch has the power to
interpret the constitution,
review the laws, and to
decide the cases involving
state rights

The bill of rights are the
first ten amendments in
the united states
Constitution. The bill of
rights were to insure
freedoms and rights to
citizens of America

Amendments/Bill of Rights

The first Amendment-Freedom of religion, freedom of speech,
freedom of press, and the freedom of assembly
The second Amendment-The right to bear arms
The third Amendment-prevents government people from
placing troops in private homes
The fourth Amendment- Prevents government officials from
unreasonable searches of the property of U.S citizens
The fifth Amendment- The right to choose to testify or not
testify in court, if they feel that it will incriminate themselves

Amendments/Bill of Rights continued...

one's peers

The seventh Amendment- Provides that civil cases also be tried by
jury

The eighth Amendment- To outlaw excessive bail, excessive bail,
excessive fines, and cruel and unusual punishments

The Ninth amendment- People still have all the rights that are not
listed
