“This ex-RSL Art Union Prize home had a beachy,
contemporary feel, but was tired and outdated on the inside.
In particular, the many brown finishes seemed to make the
space smaller and there was plenty of room for improvement
in functionality. The homeowners decided to renovate the
entire home and saved the kitchen until last. They opted for a
Hamptons-style design to complement the home’s beachside
location, which followed the original kitchen and pantry’s
footprint. The kitchen was designed to be a space in which
family and friends could gather for meals and conversation.
The gorgeous engineered stone island with feature legs
includes a breakfast bar for casual meals. It was placed right
next to the bifold doors which lead to the spectacular outdoor
area, complete with ocean views — perfect for outdoor
gatherings on warm nights. The glass display units in the
kitchen and pantry were included for additional easy-to-access
storage. Tremendous attention to detail was involved in
designing this exquisite kitchen. Everything was considered
in great depth, from the decorative features on the island and
mantle to the stone benchtop and matching splashback and

“This kitchen is part of a large renovation of an older house on
Sydney's North Shore. The homeowner wanted to combine the
aesthetic of a classic English kitchen from her heritage with an
Australian beach feel, drawing on the location of the house. The
designer worked with the homeowner on a number of dif erent
designs before settling on this as their final choice. The kitchen
opens up onto a beautiful deck with water views, which houses
a custom-built barbecue with a stone benchtop surround, just
outside for easy use. The main design considerations were giving
the homeowner a stunning kitchen for entertaining and sharing
with her family, while also being a very practical and useable
space for a family of five. The design includes a lovely butler’s
pantry that allows for all the preparation to take place away from
the main kitchen, especially with its oven and microwave stack,
