One of the country’s leading and award-winning journalists, Props on Set: Rustan’s Home
Korina Sanchez-Roxas fronts our April issue as she speaks
about being a mother for the fi rst time
ith the national elections fast approaching, candidates are
everywhere, rigorously campaigning for a favourable majority
vote with their platforms. Standing beside them are their equally
busy spouses who, in full support, vouch for their loved one
wherever and whenever possible. Case in point: top journalist Korina
Sanchez-Roxas, who has dropped her current news jobs to avoid bias
and to support her husband, senatorial bet Mar Roxas.
Decked in a classic little black dress and sunglasses, a stylish Korina walked into
the studio and greeted our team. She looked more fi t than ever, with a toned body
thanks to her Belo family, and radiant—probably brought about by the upcoming
arrival of her twin babies to the home she shares with Mar.
She came prepared and ready with her own ideas, reasonably excited to become
a fi rst-time mum. She was even shopping during the shoot and was repeatedly
asking our set designer Justine Arcega-Bumanlag where she got the cute items
from our nursery set (all from Rustan’s Home). Korina gamely posed for the
camera and enthusiastically talked about her soon-to-be motherhood status.

Tech maven Myla Villanueva takes on the helm of the Parish
Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting
Best known as the CEO behind leading tech infrastructure fi rm MDI which recently celebrated
its 30th anniversary, and hailed as Entrepreneur of the Year at the 2015 Philippine Tatler Ball,
Myla Villanueva is certainly no stranger to challenges. She now faces what may be her biggest
challenge as chair of the Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV).
Villanueva has been involved with the PPCRV since 2009 when she reached out to then-
chairperson Henrietta de Villa, regarding the country’s fi rst automated elections. Villanueva said of this
encounter, “I expressed that it had changed the dynamics of poll-watching, and that some poll watchers
may project conclusions of cheating onto machines touched or manipulated albeit even regularly.”
We wish her all the best as she leads the council in its mandate to conduct voter education, parallel
counting of votes, and poll watching in voting precincts next month.

Lasting Love
THE PINEDAS’ 50TH
WEDDING ANNIVERSARY
Amongst 350 family members and close
friends, Jesus “Susing” and Maritess Pineda
celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
Maritess, a pillar of Philippine art and
culture, requested her female guests to
come in formal Filipiniana as she herself
wore a Patis Tesoro number made out of
50-year-old material given by her mother.
Renewing their vows at the St Michael
Church in Bonifacio Global City, the couple
acknowledged that their marriage worked
because of their closeness with the Lord,
daily prayer, and unconditional love for
each other. Offi ciating the Mass were priests
who were all part of the couple’s life’s
journey: Fr Dennis Paez, Fr Jess Malit, and
Fr Gerard de Vera. They later entertained
their guests at the nearby Marquis Events
Place, complete with entertainment from
singer Lara Maique. In lieu of gifts, Susing
and Maritess asked for donations to the Jesus
erge and M Pineda, Jnr Ateneo Scholarship Fund.
