What does a typical day involve?
HANNAH BURFITT which is one of the things I love about it!
There isn’t really a typical day in my role,
I might be travelling to one of our regional
State Foster Care Project/Support coordinator shelters to do some staff training, working
with one of our wonderful rescue partners, or
organising enrichment plans for dogs that are
going up for adoption.
What is your favourite part of your job
and why?
Seeing the animals being adopted to
wonderful homes after working hard to
rehabilitate them.
What is the hardest part of your job
and why?
Sometimes the hardest part can be not
taking them all home! I have a small herd
of rescue livestock and am a regular foster
carer, so I’m lucky to share my home with
these animals.
What advice would you off er TGs
who dream of a career working
with animals?
There are so many ways to get involved that
help animals, so fi nding what you’re good at
and aiming to use those skills in your career
is a great start. If direct animal contact is for
you, be prepared to get dirty sometimes!
