An issue all about PLAYTIME
Fitz
This is Fitz, my old friend.
He needed a little fixing up.
I fluffed his matted fur.
I stitched his open seam.
I mended his broken heart.
Now he is ready
to be your friend.
Mine?
Yours.
Sharing is difficult for small children. Being a
recipient is a good first step in learning to share.
Fitz is a special hand-me-down. Why did he need
fixing up? Does your child have a favorite “lovey”?
Give it a hug and a kiss.

And other toys in my toy box.
And though I can have fun with these
I’d rather play on Daddy’s knees.
We give our children lots of
things to show our love. Over
time, though, what a child
will cherish most is a loving
adult’s undivided attention.

After your child finds these objects in the picture, look
for the books. Then look around your home for your
child’s own favorite books. Read one together.

STORY Sweete
Home
I built a house, but not from stone,
not from bricks or wood.
No one lives inside this place,
but it sure does look good!
A cookie roof and candy doors
and frosting-covered walls
make this house a yummy place—
the sweetest home of all.
Even tots can help make a sweet house! In advance, use frosting to glue graham
crackers into a cube. Next day, let your child squeeze trimmings from small tubes
of icing. Add sprinkles, raisins, or other safe treats to decorate.
