Bulverde Lions Club

Who We Are

In 1917, Melvin Jones, a 38-year-old Chicago business leader, asked a
simple and world-changing question – what if people put their talents to
work improving their communities. Almost 100 years later, Lions Clubs
International is the world's largest service club organization, with 1.35
million members in more than 46,000 clubs and countless stories of Lions
acting on the same simple idea: let's improve our communities. Lions are members of the worlds
largest and most active service club organization in 206 countries carrying out the Lion's motto -
"We Serve."

The Bulverde Lions Club was founded in 1969 and is classified by the Internal Revenue Service as
a 501(c) (4) - Civic league and Social Welfare Organization. All funds raised by the Bulverde
Lions Clubs from the general public are used for charitable purposes, and administrative costs
are kept strictly separate and paid for by members. Funds raised by the club go toward projects
that benefit the local community. The Bulverde Lions Club Foundation also operates as a charity
that qualifies as tax-exempt under Section 501(c) (3) that provides scholarships and funding for
medical assistance. The following is a list of some of the ways that we are able to provide
assistance:

 Scholarships to local High School Graduates
 Vision Testing for area children and adults
 St Jude’s Ranch for Children
 Equipment funding for the local Volunteer Fire and EMS Departments
 Cub Scout Pack & Boy Scout Troop #548
 The Comal County Junior Livestock Show
 The Texas Lions Camp for Physically Challenged Children
 The Texas Lions Eye Bank
 The Bulverde Community Center
 Anhalt Hall
 Children’s Advocacy Group of New Braunfels
 Bulverde/Spring Branch Activity Center

The Bulverde Lions Club participates in a wide variety of service projects that meet the
international goals of Lions Clubs International as well as the needs of the local community
through its network of dedicated and selfless volunteer members within the club. Contact one of
our members if you would like to join the Bulverde Lions Club, meetings are conducted on a
bimonthly basis. The Bulverde Lions Club works actively throughout the year in planning and
conducting their Annual Wild Game Dinner at Anhalt Hall in Spring Branch, Texas. The Annual
Wild Game Dinner serves delicious exotic food and hosts live and silent auctions consisting of
dove hunts, fishing trips, premium guns and many other assorted fishing and hunting items. We
are a small chapter of Lion’s doing big things within our community since 1969!

We care, and demonstrate that caring through service to
Our Community and to our Nation – LIONS!

Welcome to the 40th Annual

Bulverde Lions Club Wild Game Dinner

A note from our Club President…
Welcome to the Bulverde Lion’s Club 40th Annual Wild Game Dinner. On behalf of the

members of the Bulverde Lions Club, I’d like to thank you for joining us for this exciting event. We
truly appreciate your support of this event and hope you have a great time!

The Bulverde Lion’s Club Wild Game Dinner is our signature event each year. The proceeds
of this event are used for charitable purposes and also fund the Bulverde Lions Foundation. The
purpose of our foundation is to provide scholarships to local high school students and to provide
funding for medical assistance for those who need it.

I am proud to serve with all of these hard working men who work throughout the year to put
this fantastic event together. We also have many volunteers who come out to help us set up and serve
on this night. It truly is a team effort to make an event of this size come off as well as it does! On
behalf of our club I’d like to express our sincere appreciation for all their hard work.

The dinner would not be possible without the local businesses and individuals that have made
contributions to tonight’s event. These local businesses support our cause which supports our
community. I encourage everyone to show their appreciation by using the services of these
merchants, outfitters and companies whenever possible. Most of all, we could not do this without
your support.

The Lions Club is made up of individuals who are called and willing to serve. As such, we
are always looking for new members to join the International Lions Club Organization. The
Bulverde Lions Club invites you to attend one of our meetings. We meet the second and fourth
Thursday of each month at 7:00 p.m., at the Bulverde Community Center on E. Ammann Rd. If you
have any questions please ask one of our members.

Again, thank you for joining us for our Annual Wild Game Dinner and helping make this
event the success it is. I hope you enjoy the great food, sensational auction items and fantastic
prizes!

Best regards,

Geoffrey W Young
President, Bulverde Lions Club

The Bulverde Lions Club dedicates the 2016 Wild Game Dinner to the memory of our
friend and longtime volunteer, Clifford Henry. Cliff worked many years as a volunteer
selling raffle tickets and setting up the venue. He shared the core values of our Club
and always greeted our patrons with a smile on his face and a kind word. In addition,
Cliff was a retired San Antonio Police Officer who served on the force for 33 years.
