What is compound sentence?
Compound sentence is a sentence or phrase that has two or more
independent clauses joined by a conjunction such as for, and, nor,
but, or, yet, so. (FANBOYS)

Example 1: For
Savings means you will have more money. (simple sentence)
You will get profits. (simple sentence)

Savings means you will have more money for you will get profits.
(compound sentence)

Example 2: And
Ali likes to play football. (simple sentence)
Munir likes to play football. (simple sentence)

Ali and Munir like to play football. (compound sentence)

Example 3: Nor
They were not wearing raincoats. (simple sentence)
They were carrying umbrellas . (simple sentence)

They were not wearing raincoats nor were they carrying
umbrellas . (compound sentence)

Example 4: But
Amran likes to read storybooks. (simple sentence)
Lee likes to draw beautiful pictures. (simple sentence)

Amran likes to read storybooks but Lee likes to draw beautiful
pictures. (compound sentence)

Example 5: Or
Do you want some tea? (simple sentence)
Do you want a cup of coffee? (simple sentence)

Do you want some tea or a cup of coffee? (compound sentence)

Example 6: Yet
She didn’t want to see a doctor. (simple sentence)
She went anyway. (simple sentence)

She didn’t want to see a doctor yet she went anyway. (compound
sentence)

Example 5: So
I am very hungry. (simple sentence)
I eat a burger. (simple sentence)

I am very hungry so I eat a burger. (compound sentence)
