DIRECTORS’ NOTE
Thank you for joining us tonight for a show that has been
thirteen years in the making – at last, Miami Arts Charter School is
presenting its first ever live musical theatre production! So many
people were involved in making this production a reality that we had to
create a separate page in our program just to thank them.
Chicago is one of the most beloved and iconic musicals of all
time, and when it came time to pick this year’s theatre season, we knew
this show would be the perfect way to welcome back live theatre to the
MAC stage. And though it is not an easy show to pull off, we are beyond
thrilled with the outcome. We hope you enjoy watching the show as
much as we enjoyed putting it together.
As you will see shortly, we invested heavily into the production
and made sure that the show reflected the caliber of our students and
the level that MAC Theatre always strives to achieve. And though our
expectations and demands of our students are always high, we are first
and foremost teachers, and our job is to create an environment where
our students feel safe and supported to pursue their artistic endeavors,
whether it’s as actors, singers, dancers, or designers. Regardless of
what happens tonight, our job as directors was a success because of
the dedication of our students. The pride they took as performers
and crew members in their work will be evident from the moment the
curtain opens.
This is without question the most ambitious production our
program has put on in our thirteen year history, and tonight, we are
thrilled to celebrate not just the hard work of our current students, but
of the legacy of our program – tonight has been made possible by every
student who has come through this program and the impact they have
made in making MAC Theatre the program it is today.
So we ask you to sit back and enjoy the show! It is wonderful
to be back, live, in front of so many members of our school and local
community. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to share our work
with you!
