AFTERNOON ACTIVITY

 Sabino Canyon Tram Tour: Friday, January 8th, 12:00 PM

Sabino Canyon is not only a nature photographer’s dream it is also steeped in history. Twelve thousand years ago,
Columbian Mammoths roamed here. By 1,200 A.D., irrigation dams were built in the creek by Hohokam Indians. Tour
guides will accompany the group to Sabino Canyon, where we will board an open-air, outdoor motorized tram for a 45
minute narrated tour through this desert oasis. Along the 3.8 mile trail, the tram makes nine stops for visitors to take
in the panoramic views. Each stop also offers a variety of hiking trails ranging from easy to challenging. Following your
tram adventure you will be treated to a botanical walk, where you will learn about desert flora and fauna.
Lunch will be served in The Grill at Hacienda del sol Guest Ranch & Resort. It is an oasis in the beautiful Southwestern
Desert nestled in the foothills of the majestic Santa Catalina Mountains. Originally, opened in 1929 as a preparatory
school for girls and later became a “Dude” ranch. Hidden Courtyards with lawns and fountains, cactus gardens and
spectacular city and mountain views entice enchanted guests. The historic main building designed and built by Tuc-
son’s most famous architect, Josiah Joessler, includes a large foyer, library, meeting rooms and two floors of guest
suites. This building surrounds a beautiful courtyard with fountains and lush gardens’. The distinctive Spanish colonial
architectural design was inspired by the Santa Fe Architecture of the 18th and 19th centuries.
