1. // INTRODUCTION

OF RICE COOKER

● A commercial Rice Cooker is a compact
countertop appliance designed to cook large
quantities of rice with the minimum amount of
supervision. Consisting of a non-stick inner
bowl, thermostat control and heating element,
the rice cooker is incredibly simple to use,
yet a massively valuable asset for businesses
which require bulk quantities of rice on a
daily basis.

● The first rice cooker was introduced in Japan
by Toshiba in 1955. Due to its huge popularity,
other companies soon joined the market, adding
innovations that expanded the abilities and
features available.

// HOW DOES RICE COOKER WORK?

First, the cooker heats up
the water until it reaches
212°F or 100°C and starts
to boil. Once it starts to
boil, it can’t get any
hotter. When the water is

gone and is absorbed by the
rice, the temperature
begins to rise and the rice
cooker notices this. Then
the machine turns off the
cooking and goes into keep
warm mode. 5

// USES

PTFE has applications in a

huge range of industrial

sectors, including automotive,

chemical, electronic,

aerospace and medical.

// USES

10

// INNOVATIONS
// PTFE SHEET AND FILM

PTFE has such a high melting point

for a polymer,, it is commonly used to
produce sheets and films for further

applications. Sheets and thin films of

PTFE are used mainly in the
packaging sector. In the packaging of

chemical equipment, pharmaceuticals

and cosmetic products, a chemically
inert material such as PTFE is worth

the extra cost in comparison to other

commodity packaging materials.

11

// INNOVATIONSOATING
// INDUSTRIAL C

The most frequent application of PTFE globally is in

industrial coatings. It has a very low friction

coefficient and high-temperature resistance, making
it perfect for demanding conditions. Interestingly,

PTFE lubricant is used in the construction of
igniters for rocket propellants, and to coat certain

types of bullets to reduce wear on the inside of the
barrel. Other uses include coatings for hoses

subjected to corrosive environments and low-
friction coatings on windshield wipers and hair

straighteners. Teflon coatings and non-stick wear
are used on kitchenware to prevent food from

sticking to pots and pans.

12

// INNOVATIONS
// PTFE POWDER

Fine PTFE powder can be paste

extruded into useful shapes such

as tapes, wires and tubes. These

are mostly used for the insulation

of wires and cables, tubing, pipe

liners and films. PTFE powder can

also be used as a powder coating

for some materials, offering a

more aesthetic finish.

7. // CONCLUSION

The fact of the matter is that most rice
cookers have PTFE coating, and PTFE can be
dangerous to our health.

Even with careful use and cleaning, PTFE can
still scratch and release harmful chemicals
into our food as the appliance as it ages.
It’s better to choose a safe alternative that
we don’t have to worry about every single
time we’re preparing our food.

Consider our product suggestions and make the
right choice. Be sure to compare all the
available options so that we can choose the
best product for our cooking needs.
