PURPOSE OF THE
TEAM

1. Provide emotional and

moral support to console

the victims' families:

- Show the families that they were not alone
in this tragedy
- met the victims' families at home
- performed funeral prayers & rituals for the
victims
- visited the injured victims in hospital
- some of the injured victims are critical,
while others are in a coma and others still
are disabled for life we pray that the death
toll doesn't rise
- families of the injured victims also need
support
- some of these families are not permanent
citizens of New Zealand and they need help
in this regard

2. Establish a network to
continue long term support for

victims' families

IFAM, CAI, ICNA Relief Canada and Helping Hand USA in
collaboration with Masjid Al Noor (NZ) have formed an
organisation, Christchurch Family Support, with the aim to
help to support the NZ victims’ families.

1. Trauma Centre
- Establishment of a Trauma Centre in Christchurch
- The Center will host psychiatrists and counsellors from
USA, Canada and Australia
- The aim of the Trauma Centre is to provide counselling
for the victims’ families
- This is an urgent need, we will had the Mental health
care professionals there in next 2-3 days

2. Long term Needs
- Assess the victims’ family needs on an individual basis
- Provide ongoing long tern support for the families
- Some of the family members of the victims’ are not New
Zealand citizens or permanent residents, they need help
in this process
- Financial support for the families
- Funds needed to support this process

City's atmosphere

The city of Christchurch was
consoling every tourist and the New
Zealanders alike.

It was a calm atmosphere

The moment we were identified as
the people attending the funerals,
the whole city welcomed us with
open arms and they were apologetic
and passed on their condolences

We were treated as a family
