About the Author

Karen Niehaus was born on January 23rd, 1999, in Dallas, Texas. Karen has graduated
high school at Richland College with her associates degree, and is now working towards
her bachelor’s in Early Childhood Special Education at Brigham Young University in
Rexburg, Idaho. During Karen’s free
time, she enjoys spending time with her
friends and family, playing volleyball,
going on road trips, painting, and playing
musical instruments. Along with these
free-time activities, for as long as she can
remember, Karen has always had a strong
passion to become a teacher for
elementary school students, and is
currently working to fulfil that goal.
Karen hopes to become a first or second
grade teacher for a school in her home
town in Texas. Karen’s biggest goal within her future career is to be loving to children,
as well as being as intentional and thoughtful as possible with the curriculum that she
provides her future students with. She is working towards being the best teacher she can
possibly be to the students that will be in her classroom, and she is extremely motivated
in her college classes through that. She is devoted to learning in school in order to help
her future students learn in the best way possible. She decided to write the article,

Effective Ways to Teach Through Technology Based Games, because technology is

becoming such a big part of the world’s everyday life. Karen wanted to be able to

enlighten future teachers, current teachers, and caregivers of children of the many

different ways you can effectively educate a child in a fun, new, intentional, and exciting

way through technology. She is excited to share this information to parents, teachers,

and future teachers, like herself, in order to bring in a fun, fresh, and advanced learning

experience into the home and classrooms all across the United States.

Abstract
As the world advances in technology, daily tasks, and even our educational
system is changing in drastic ways. Technology is becoming more a part of our lives,
and it will only continue to advance as the years go by. It is important to keep an open
mind as we adapt and transform to the ways of technology, especially while teaching the
younger generation of children. Denying that it is important to teach children with
technology is not only going to hinder their development as they will grow up to be
completely unaware of how the world works around them, but it is neglecting the fact
that children are going to be growing up in a world of technology, and they will be lost
and confused within the only world they know. There are many different websites and
technology based games that will support the growing knowledge of children within a
classroom while keeping them in tune with how technology functions. While it also is
important for a child’s developmental growth to be aware of new technology and be able
to be savvy with it, technology actually does have classroom management benefits. By
using technology, lessons can have a new and exciting feel to the children. While
children are being taught different lessons through technology, children are more likely
to continue to be engaged. The way you introduce and teach a lesson has a profound
effect on how the child will learn or what the child will get out of what you are
attempting to have them learn. Using technology in the classroom in a variety of
different ways will cause for the child’s attention to be grabbed, and for that attention to
be retained for the lesson. It is important to keep all of these aspects in mind and to also
be intentional when planning different activities. (307 words).
