Sal ly & Carl What a beautiful day filled with love, joy and laughter. Memories are certainly made of this! HOW DID YOUR LOVE STORY BEGIN? WHY DID YOU CHOOSE BALBIRNIE AS YOUR WEDDING VENUE? My husband and I met on holiday in Zakinthos 7 years ago! I was on a girls holiday with my maid of honour Rachel and other best friend, Lynn. We decided it was going to work, so did long distance for 3 years before he moved up from London to Fife, Scotland before the COVID-19 pandemic. We bought a house in May 2022 and then we got engaged at our favourite walk, at The Hermitage in Dunkeld a few months later in November. We had a few reasons we chose Balbirnie, My husband has a big Irish/English family and we had a lot of needs including accommodation, disability access, and dietary requirements. I also really wanted to include our family dogs Lucy, Lilly, Monty and Alfie in the wedding. Balbirnie were able to meet our needs and offer solutions to everything we asked. Nothing was too much trouble. I also thought the wedding planners were incredibly helpful at getting back to you quickly with any questions you had. I like to be really organised and having them scoop up any queries or worries, really helped take the stress out! They offered lots of great packages which meant we could include everything we needed. Plus it is just such a beautiful place to go! WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO FUTURE COUPLES PLANNING THEIR DAY? Always ask if something can be done! In this day and age, weddings come in all shapes and sizes. From going to wedding fares and talkng to the wedding planners at Balbirnie, you can almost do it any way that suits! I am so glad that weddings today can be as modernised as you’d like it! My bridesmaids Rachel and Jenna did a speech, Carl and I got to drive a golf buggy into the woods to get some beautiful photos of our favourite places we walk our dog and I really wanted a very Scottish wedding so asked if traditional Scottish Cranachan can be part of our dessert. Which Balbirnie delivered. If you have a vision, share it!

PLEASE TELL USABOUT YOUR SPECIAL TOUCHES FOR YOUR GORGEOUS DAY Florist: GillyTree studio Cake: Tingtastic cake Studio Favours: Personalised bath bombs from Soap Candy and a donation to greyhound rescue fife (GRF) DJ: Fife wedding entertainment My dress & veil: Amy King Bridal Kirkcaldy Shoes: Quiz and Converse Kilts: Balgonie Kilts Bridesmaid dresses: Amy King Bridal Photographer &Videographer: Lifetime Photography Hair: Janet Adamson hairdressing Makeup: Stacey Whittaker Celebrant: Andrew D Scott Piper: MacInnes Bagpipes We included our dogs on the cake, I am still in such disbelief at how beautiful my cake was! We also had a pre-wedding meal for all the hotel guests the evening before which our photographer, Rachel was able to attend. It gave guests the chance to mingle and say hello, get family photographs and it also gave Carl and I the chance to see everyone before the chaos! My dad had also very sadly suddenly died in the process of planning our wedding. Balbirnie we’re very helpful in giving us ideas on how to include him throughout the day, which involved his picture, along with other loved ones who had passed on the mantelpiece, a seat at the ceremony, and a toast to him in a speech from my brother, Elliot, at the wedding breakfast. Forever flowers also retained some flowers from my dad’s funeral which was tied around my bouquet. Also, my mum has spent the last year painting little stones for place settings during the meal! They were a lovely little souvenir for everyone to take home! My bridesmaids Rachel, Jenna and Catherine for their stationery, they did all the table plans, table signs, confetti, welcome mirror and save the dates! All were such high standards. We also had lots of wee surprises throughout such as a crisp wall at the evening made by my husband and an audio guestbook for guests to record messages and a 360 degree photo booth! Fun all round! We also had a dog walker, Peter Stark, from ‘rock n stroll dog walking’ who was there all day looking after our dogs!

Memories are made of this!
