We were delighted to welcome The Queens Nursing Institute Scotland to beautiful Balbirnie this month. The Queens Nursing Institute is a charitable organisation that supports, develops and inspires Scotland’s community nurses and midwives. They ran development workshops all week and it was a pleasure to have them with us. They also planted a tree at the front of the hotel, which we look forward to watch it bloom and grow. To find out more about the wonderful work that they do or to support them, pop over to their website

Troy Davidson Meet our Banqueting Supervisor! How long have you worked at Balbirnie? I joined the team at Balbirnie in April 2022 (nearly a full year ago!) during our busiest wedding year with a grand total of 193 weddings. I have spent my time working so many amazing weddings and special events, ensuring my team and I make every single one as special as the next! As Banqueting supervisor what is the favourite part of your job role? It's a simple one for me, seeing so many family and friends come together to celebrate some of the most important moments in life! I've met so many wonderful people, from brides, grooms, family members, friends and suppliers who time and time again make the day that extra bit special. And for all that I have to thank the amazing team we have here, who without, we wouldn't be able to do what we do so well. What would you recommend to future couples to incorporate into their big day? One of my favourites is when couples use our photo wall which is situated in our Ballroom Foyer. The leaf background with our neon 'memories are made of this' sign will make any photo pop! (It is even better if you bring props). Have you seen new and upcoming trends for weddings this year? There are so many! One that I rather enjoy is 'Sparkler Shots' on the iconic front steps of our 1777 Georgian House. It can be hard to find small moments to spend with your nearest and dearest, these photos just add that small moment to remember the importance of having them close for years to come.

Jade has made a truly wonderful input to our front of house brigade and provides wonderful service for guests enjoying our SEVEN course tasting menu in the Orangery restaurant. She has received so many lovely comments about her bubbly personality, it's been wonderful to see! A massive congratulations to Jade, who has received a bottle of Champagne, our SEVEN course tasting menu for two, which also includes cocktails on arrival and a bottle of wine with her meal. So very well deserved! Congratulations to our employee of the month for March is Jade Murray!
The Wedding of Hannah & David How did your love story begin? We first met through mutual friends at a flat party while studying at The University of Glasgow. Following this, David asked me on a date to Hillhead Bookclub, a bar in the West End of Glasgow. We had a great laugh over some strawberry Mojitos and instantly clicked. It wasn't long before we went on more dates around the West End and the rest is history! Why did you choose Balbirnie House as your venue? We had a tour of Balbirnie House and immediately knew that it was the perfect venue. The building is beautiful and well kept, the staff are extremely attentive (knowing everything there is to know about weddings) and we took great comfort in being able to host the full wedding day in one location. A couple of added bonuses were the inhouse catering and the ability for guests to stay overnight, making the planning a little easier. Balbirnie House also provided an excellent wedding planner (Leah Kinnes) and an amazing MC (Angela Ferguson) to keep us right on the day!
Do you have any top tips for future couples? Control the controllables. Book high quality suppliers that know the venue months in advance, get to know them personally and in the run up to the wedding give them a detailed breakdown of the day. Most importantly, focus on the atmosphere and then no matter what happens, everyone will be happy. Guest Thanks Excellent stay Well, what can I say… would highly recommend Balbirnie house hotel. The hotel is absolutely gorgeous from the grounds and throughout the house itself. We stayed in the pearl suite and it was absolutely beautiful, everything was of the highest standard, the decor was just gorgeous, the bed was so comfortable and it was so peaceful which made for a great nights sleep. We ate in the bistro, the food was brilliant, great menu with lots of choice. We were greeted with a warm welcome which continued throughout our stay, the staff were fabulous, thank you so much for a wonderful stay,we will definitely be back.. Tracey x . Balbirnie Experience Myself and my partner stayed on the experience deal. What a great experience! Rooms are gorgeous, bright and comfortable. Clean and well looked after property. The Building itself is absolutely gorgeous and the interior had such a modern, yet traditional style! Cream tea on arrival in lounge area was the perfect start. SEVEN in the evening was to die for and wine flight topped this perfectly. Sian x Balbirnie House Wow! On arrival to Balbirnie we were greeted at reception by a lovely female (so sorry, wish I asked your name). Super helpful with information about the hotel and grounds. We were directing to our bedroom. Although on the upper level the room was beautiful with lot's of daylight and modern features. Coffee machine in room has great selections. Mattress super comfy! Best night sleep. Once checked in and settled we went to the Bar which looked like a library. Again amazing features. The bar team were super helpful in recommending cocktails and specific gins. All garnished beautifully with grapefruit and rosemary. Our dinner was in the Bistro. Lovely traditional tasty dishes. House wine also very tasty and well priced. Fantastic bar list with lots of choice and a mixture of pricing depending on what you are looking for. Breakfast the next day had lots of selection and the coffee was delicious. Perfect measures in smaller cups but very easy to ask for more when needed. Overall the experience was fantastic and we are already planning our next trip! Tip - On arrival we asked if their were lifts to the rooms and in specific areas there are not. Please do make it known to the team in advance if you cannot manage stairs as this could be difficult for others. Sophie x
