Modul ini berisikan tentang informasi tentang notice.. Diharapkan modul ini
dapat memberikan informasi kepada kita semua tentang notice.

Notice adalah – Pengertian, Tujuan, Contoh, dan Latihan Soal
Notice adalah – Pengertian, Tujuan, Contoh, dan Latihan Soal

Pengertian Notice
 Notice: adalah salah satu jenis short functional text yang berisi sebuah
informasi singkat dan sederhana yang berbentuk tulisan atau simbol untuk
memberikan intruksi atau peringatan kepada publik, biasanya bebentuk
rambu-rambu.
Sedangkan bentuk lain dari Notice ada beberapa diantaranya
adalah warning dan caution.
 Warning: adalah sebuah teks yang berisi informasi berupa peringatan
yang ditunjukkan kepada orang banyak. Biasanya berhubungan dengan
hal yang berbahaya (dangerous). Dan jika dihiraukan akibatnya bisa fatal.
 Caution: teks ini hampir sama/ mirip dengan warning yaitu sama-sama
memperingatkan tentang sesutu akan tetapi untuk caution tingkatanya

lebih rendah jika dibandingkan warning. Karena akibat yang timbulkan
tidak sefatal warning

Tujuan Notice
Ada beberapa tujuan dari Notice, yaitu:

 To give an instruction / to instruct people to….
 To give information / to inform people to….
 To give direction
 To ask people to….
 To advice/to suggest / to recommend people to….
 To remind people to….
 To warn / to give warning
 To ban / to forbid / to prohibit people to…

1. Kalimat Perintah
Contoh:

 Keep the grass. (Pelihara rumput itu)
 Please check your bag before you leave this room. (dimohon cek kembali

tas anda sebelum meninggalkan ruangan ini)
 Turn off selullar phone. (matikan Hp)

2. Kalimat Larangan
Contoh:

 Don’t swim. (Dilarang berenang)
 Don’t smoke. (Dilarang mrokok)
 Don’t disturb. (Jangan diganggu)

3. Berbentuk Rambu-rambu
Contoh:

 Turn Left. (Belok kiri)
 Stop. (Berhenti)
 Turn right. (Belok kanan)

Dari penjelasan dan beberapa contoh diatas bisa disimpulkan bahwa Notice/
Caution/ Warning mempunyai berbagai tujuan:
1. Notice

 Memberikan sebuah petunjuk.
 Memberikan arahan.

2. Caution

 Memberikan peringatan kepada publik untu tidak melakukan sesuatu atau
menghindari sesuatu.

3. Warning

 Memberikan peringatan tentang suatu bahaya kepda publik.
 Memberikan arahan.

 Keep silent. (Harap Diam.)
 Be Carefull. (Hati-hati.)
 Please keep the window opened. (Biarkan jendela itu terbuka.)
 Staff only. (Khusus Pegawai.)
 Teacher room. (Ruang Guru.)
 Use the hand dryer. (Gunakan Pengering tangan.)
 Don’t feed the animal. (Jangan beri makanan binatang itu.)
 Please shut down the computer if you finished. (Dimohon matikan

komputer jika sudah selesai.)
 Keep the room clean. (Jaga kebersihan ruangan.)
 Don’t be Noise. (Jangan gaduh.)

Notice merupakan jenis teks yang berisikan sebuah himbauan, saran, ajakan,
maupun larangan namun tidak menimbulkan konsekuensi yang berbahaya apabila
dilanggar.

Tujuan Notice (communicative purposes)
Notice mempunyai tujuan antara lain:
a. To give instruction/to instruct people (untuk memberi petunjuk).
b. To give direction (untuk memberi arahan).
c. To ask people to… (untuk meminta orang supaya…..)
d. To give advice/to suggest/to recommend people to…… (untuk menganjurkan
orang supaya……)
e. To remind people to…: (Untuk mengingatkan seseorang supaya….)
f. To warn/to give warning (untuk memberi peringatan)
g. To ban/to forbid/to prohibit people to... (untuk melarang orang untuk….)
Jenis Jenis Notice
a. Notice yang berupa arahan atau petunjuk.
Notice ini bisa berupa kalimat perintah, ajakan, nasihat, arahan, atau petunjuk.
Bisa juga berupa gambar/sign/tanda tertentu. Jika notice tersebut berupa arahan,
berikut beberapa kata yang sering digunakan:
• can/may : boleh
• must/have to : harus
• should : hendaknya, seyogyanya

• allowed/permitted/let : diperbolehkan
• suggested/recommended : dianjurkan
• asked/hoped : diminta/diharapkan
Perhatikan contoh-contoh berikut:

Contoh-contoh notice berupa simbol
b. Notice yang berupa larangan.
Notice ini berupa kalimat larangan, (No, Don’t, Never), atau berupa
gambar/tanda/sign yang diberi tanda garis miring atau tanda silang(cross).
Misalnya : Don’t be noisy, No parking, never speak up.
Jika notice tersebut berupa larangan, berikut beberapa kata yang sering
digunakan:
• can’t/may not/must not : tidak boleh
• forbidden/banned/prohibited : dilarang
• not allowed/not permitted : tidak diperbolehkan
• not suggested/not recommended : tidak dianjurkan

c. Jenis Notice berdasarkan fungsinya
1) Command
Command merupakan notice yang fungsinya untuk memberikan perintah agar
pembaca melakukan sesuatu.
contoh :

2) Caution
Caution merupakan notice yang fungsinya agar pembaca memberi perhatian atau
berhati-hati terhadap sesuatu

KEEP OF THE GRASS

Contoh notice di atas menghimbau pada pengunjung untuk tidak melewati
rerumputan, dan apabila tetap melewatinya pengunjung tidak akan mengalami
sesuatu yang membahayakan dirinya atau orang lain, namun konsekuensinya
rumput akan menjadi rusak.

Contoh notice diatas menghimbau pada pengunjung untuk menggunakan
pengering tangan elektrik setelah mencuci tangan, dan apabila tidak
menggunakanya pengunjung tidak akan mengalami sesuatu yang membahayakan
dirinya atau orang lain.

A. Warning
Warning adalah teks yang berisikan peringatan untuk melakukan sesuatu hal
sesuai petunjuk atau larangan untuk melakukan sesuatu, dan apabila tidak
diindahkan akan menimbulkan bahaya baik bagi diri sendiri ataupun orang lain.

Dari contoh text caution di atas jelas merupakan sebuah peringatan bagi siapapun
untuk tidak menyentuh atau memegang benda yang ada tanda tersebut, dan
apabila dilanggar maka akan menimbulkan bencana atau

BEWARE OF WILD DOGS

Contoh text caution diatas juga sangat jelas merupakan sebuah peringatan bagi
siapapun untuk tidak memaksa masuk, karena apabila dilanggar maka orang yang
masuk akan berhadapan dengan anjing–anjing yang galak atau buas
(membahayakan diri sendiri).

Warning merupakan notice yang fungsinya untuk memperingatkan pembaca
terhadap suatu kondisi yang membahayakan.

4. Makna Notice
Pelajarilah beberapa contoh Notice dan maknanya berikut ini.
• Keep The Door Closed!
Biarkan pintu tetap tertutup! Maksudnya adalah Anda diberi informasi untuk
menjaga agar pintu tetap tertutup. Apabila Anda membuka pintu, diharapkan
Anda menutupnya kembali.
• Chemical Storage! (Bahan kimia!)
Maksud dari notice di atas adalah Anda dilarang membawa makanan atau
minuman karena tempat tersebut merupakan tempat menyimpan bahan bahan
kimia. Dengan adanya tanda seperti itu diharapkan ketika masuk Anda tidak
membawa makanan atau minuman agar tidak keracunan.
• Do Not Throw Trash in the Toilet
Jangan buang sampah di toilet. Maksud dari tanda ini adalah Anda tidak
diperbolehkan untuk membuang sampah di dalam toilet. Hal ini dimaksudkan
agar anda menjaga kebersihan toilet. Biasanya Anda bisa menemui tanda ini di
toilet umum.
• Your Activities are monitored by CCTV
Aktivitas anda diawasi oleh kamera CCTV. Maksud dari tulisan ini adalah Anda
diperingatkan agar tidak melakukan tindakan mencurigakan di ruangan tersebut.
Tanda ini juga memberikan peringatan agar kita tidak melakukan
pencurian di dalam ruangan tersebut karena semua kegiatan didalam
ruangan tersebut dimonitor atau direkam dengan kamera CCTV.
• No Gun Allowed Here
Senjata dilarang berada disini. Maksud dari notice tersebut adalah Anda
diperingatkan untuk tidak membawa senjata api dan sebagainya. Tanda ini
biasanya bisa Anda temukan ditempat pertemuan resmi dan sebagainya.
• No Hunting!
Dilarang Berburu. Maksud dari tanda ini adalah Anda tidak diperbolehkan
memburu satwa di daerah tersebut. Biasanya tulisan ini dapat ditemukan di

Hutan Lindung yang berisi dengan hewan hewan yang hampir punah.
Sehingga Anda dilarang untuk memburu hewan hewan yang tinggal di hutan
tersebut.
• No Alcoholic Beverages!
Dilarang membawa minuman keras. Maksud dari tanda ini adalah Anda tidak
diperbolehkan untuk membawa minuman keras ke dalam daerah atau tempat
tersebut. Hal dimaksudkan karena mungkin tempat tersebut merupakan
tempat pendidikan atau tempat umum.
• Drive Slow. Children at Play.
Pelan-pelan, banyak anak bermain. Maksud dari tanda ini adalah Anda
diperingatkan untuk pelan pelan dalam mengendarai kendaraan Anda karena
memasuki kawasan anak anak bermain. Dengan adanya tanda ini diharapkan
anda bisa mengurangi kecepatan Anda.
• Hot Surface. Do not Touch.
Permukaan panas, jangan disentuh. Maksud dari tanda ini adalah Anda
diperingatkan untuk tidak menyentuh permukaan dari suatu barang karena
permukaan benda tersebut panas. Bisa jadi ketika anda menyentuh benda
tersebut anda akan terluka.
Struktur Bacaan (Generic Structure) dan Ciri Kebahasaan (linguistic
feature)
• Generic structure pada semua short functional text pada umumnya sama, yaitu;
1. Attention gather (optional)
2. Information
3. Closure (optional)
• Ciri Kebahasaan pada teks Notice adalah penggunaan Imperative sentences,
yaitu kalimat perintah yang diawali dengan verb/kata kerja
Contoh kata kerja Imperative:
• Run!
• Get Out!
• Listen!

Soal yang biasanya muncul dalam notice/caution:
1. Function/purpose of the text ( fungsi / tujuan text ):

– What is the purpose of the notice?
Functions of the notice:
To give instruction/to instruct people: untuk memberi petunjuk.
To give direction: untuk memberi arahan.
To ask people to…: untuk meminta orang supaya…..
To advice/to suggest/to recommend people to..: untuk menganjurkan orang
supaya……
To remaind people to…: Untuk mengingatkan seseorang supaya….
To warn/to give warning; untuk memberi peringatan
To ban/to forbid/to prohibit people to..: untuk melarang orang untuk….
Meaning: arti/makna notice tersebut
– What does the notice mean?
– The notice means……
Notice/caution menurut maknanya pada dasarnya dibagi menjadi dua jenis:
Notice yang berupa arahan atau petunjuk.
Notice ini bisa berupa kalimat perintah, ajakan, nasehat, arahan atau petunjuk.
Bisa juga berupa gambar/sign/tanda tertentu.
Seperti: Be silent. SLIPPERY ROAD, BE CAREFUL
Contoh notice arahan yang berupa gambar
Notice yang berupa larangan.
Notice ini berupa kalimat larangan, (No, Don’t, Never), atau berupa
gambar/tanda/sign yang diberi tanda garis miring atau tanda silang (crossing).
Misalnya : Don’t be noisy, No parking, never speak up.
Contoh notice larangan yang berupa gambar.
Meaning of the notice:
a. Jika notice tersebut berupa arahan, maka maknanya akan identik dengan
kalimat-kalimat yang mengandung makna:
( hafalkan kosa kata berikut)

b. Jika notice tersebut berupa larangan, maka maknanya akan identik dengan

kalimat-kalimat yang mengandung makna:

– forbidden/banned/prohibited
– not allowed/not permitted : tidak diperbolehkan
– not suggested/not recommended : tidak dianjurkan

Notice tersebut biasanya terdapat dimana.

STRATEGI MENJAWAB SOAL NOTICE TEXT

Notice ialah peringatan untuk melakukan atau tidak
melakukan suatu perbuatan di tempat-tempat umum. Salah satu bentuk notice
adalah caution, yaitu peringatan akan adanya bahaya atau resiko yang
ditimbulkan jika sebuah peringatan dilanggar.
Notice dapat dinyatakan antara lain dengan:
A. Perintah
1.Positive Command
Dibentuk dengan langsung menggunakan Kata Kerja Dasar
Digunakan untuk memerintahkan seseorang melakukan suatu perbuatan.
Contoh
Enter this room = Masuk ruangan ini
Keep off the grass = Jauhi rumput
2. Should = seharusnya
Contoh
You should wash your hands = Kau seharusnya menyuci kedua tanganmu
You should visit the doctor in the evening = Kau seharusnya mengunjungi dokter
di petang hari

3. must/ have to = harus
Contoh
You must turn left = Kau harus belok kiri
You must stand in a queue = Kau harus berdiri antre
4. May/allowed = boleh
Contoh
You may come in/You are allowed to come in = Anda boleh masuk
4. Only = khusus/hanya

B. Larangan
1.Negative Command
Dibentuk dengan: Do not/Don’t + Kata Kerja Dasar
Digunakan untuk melarang seseorang melakukan suatu perbuatn.

Do not throw the rubbish here = Jangan membuang sampah di sini
2. Dengan: No+V-ing/Kata Benda
Contoh:
No smoking = Dilarang merokok
No more than three tickets = Tidak/Dilarang lebih dari tiga tiket
3. Dengan Kata-kata:
Nobody/No one = tak seorang pun
Prohibitd/forbidden = dilarang
May bot/Not allowed = tidak diperbolehkan/diizinkan
Must not/mustn’t = dilarang
