Serving the local communities of the northern Catskill mountain region
through creative placemaking for five years and counting...
2017 Year in Review
2017 has been a wildly fun and successful year the Prattsville Art Center (PAC). We launched
many new initiatives, and provided free art, music, and cultural programs that brought over
3,000 people together from across the mountaintop. H ere are some highlights…
HEADED FOR THE HILLS FESTIVAL
& PRATTSVILLE MUSIC CLUB
Our 2nd annual music festival provided
three days of local craft vendors and
incredible performances, from rock & roll to
jazz & tap to folk, featuring local musicians
and traditionally underrepresented voices.
We continue providing free live music and
community dinners nearly every week
through the Prattsville Music Club,
produced with Rad Femme Records (run by
local musician and Gilboa-Conesville
Central School graduate, Maggie Uhalde).
NEXT GENERATION ART & MUSIC CLASSES
With generous funding from Greene County Council on the Arts, we were able to pay local artists & artists in residence to
provide the community with free art and music classes that stir up the imagination and activate creative expression. Our
personalized and engaging courses serve people of all ages and experience levels.

ARTISTS IN RESIDENCE / GALLERY EXHIBITIONS
We hosted 12 artists in residence at PAC this year, from musicians to visual artists, and featured the work of 34
artists in our five gallery exhibitions this year, most of whom are local to the Catskill Mountain region.
NEW FREE MART, LIBRARY, AND FILM & DISCUSSION SERIES
With generously donated books, wood, and labor, we are establishing a public library in Prattsville, where we are
hosting reading groups, craft workshops, film and discussion series, and a new radio show! We also host a monthly
Free Mart & Skill Share (every third Sunday), where people can drop off and/or find quality used goods (for free!)
and also pick up new practical skills, from sewing to harvesting medicinal herbs to basic home repair.
E(ART)H CLUB
E(ART)H Club is a community gardening &
permaculture program that is helping us
protect our local environment and teach
practical skills to people of all ages about
sustainable living. Big thanks to our partner,
Mossy Stone Farms, and the many places that
hosted field trips for us!

Vision for the 2018 Season
Expand Free Art, Music, and Cultural Programs
2018 will see a new round of N ext Generation classes & workshops that respond to the desires of our
community members and support local teaching artists; the continuation of weekly live performances
and H eaded for the Hills Festival; and new exhibitions & artist residencies (including Damien Davis!).
Restored Public Outdoor Gathering Space
Local artists Draga Susanj and Matt Bua will be transforming the
backyard of PAC. Susanj will lead the Place Makers Space, a
community-engaged, immersive art project that will revive t he
backyard for communal gatherings, events, sculpture shows, and
a sanctuary garden for solitude and creation. Thanks to the
National Endowment on the Arts, Bua will collaborate with the
Place Makers project to build the Prankster People’s Museum - a
coyote-head shaped building featuring local art and history!
PAC Radio!
We are thrilled to be partnering with Wave Farm (radio WGXC), located in Acra, to host an FM radio
broadcast live from Prattsville every week, featuring community storytelling and youth radio
programs, as well as broadcasts of our live music and reading events! Tune in! Fridays 3-5pm.
Sustaining a Year-Round Artist Residency Program
The artists who live in our space are the lifeblood of the PAC community, creating inspiring art,
designing and teaching classes and programs for the community, cooking community meals, hosting
open hours, and more. Our desire is to stay active through the winter months, when our community is
in particular need of a place to gather and create together.
Renovating our Physical Space & Launching the PAC MakerSpace
PAC has been the recipient of many amazing donated art supplies, as well as equipment such as
sewing machines, a pottery kiln, publishing and zine-making supplies, and more. It’s incredible - and
we’re running out of space! So we are raising funds / soliciting donations to finish renovating our
historic main street building from flood-damage that occurred during Hurricane Irene in 2011.
As we renovate and expand our space, we will build shelving, organize supplies, expand studio spaces,
and launch a store so that artist members can create art while accessing the resources needed to
sustain their economic livelihood. Become a PAC Artist Member at www.prattsvilleart.org/support-us.

2018 Season Resource Drive
We need your help to realize our vision for the Art Center.
The Art Center prides itself on providing quality free programs and classes
at minimal cost. Our budget is extremely frugal. Many center staff volunteer their labor
(including our Executive Director), and we seek donated goods and resources wherever
possible. The funding we do receive allows us to cover our base operating costs, offer free
community meals, purchase art supplies, and pay local staff, interns, artists, and musicians.
Meeting our annual budget depends on the generous donations of
community members like you. L ast year, nearly 25% of our budget was met through
small individual donations. Every dollar given makes a huge difference, helping us to attract
larger grants and ensure our long-term sustainability. Here’s how you can help:
★ MAKE A TAX-DEDUCTIBLE DONATION:
Any amount helps! Champion and Patron gifts (from
businesses or individuals) will be recognized on our
website, during events, and at our fall Benefit Event.
$200: C ommunity Arts Champion
$500: C ommunity Arts Patron
Donations can be made online at
www.prattsvilleart.org/support-us
Checks can be mailed to: Prattsville Art Project
PO Box 400, Prattsville, NY 12468.
★ BECOME A PAC MEMBER: For just $3 per month, or
4 volunteer days per year, you can become a supporting member of the Prattsville Art Center,
giving you access to unique perks (including membership to the PAC MakerSpace and free
access to the Headed for the Hills Festival, returning this summer!) Visit
www.prattsvilleart.org/support-us to sign-up.
★ VOLUNTEER/DONATE IN-KIND RESOURCES: Fr om construction supplies and art material,
to bedding and kitchen wares, there are many resources we are grateful to receive. We also
deeply value volunteers who contribute to our space. For more information on how to get
involved, email Phoebe Potter, PAC’s Associate Director, at p [email protected]

WHO WE ARE
The Prattsville Art Center & Residency (PAC) was founded in 2011 as a creative placemaking project
designed to help anchor the recovery of Main Street after the devastating flooding from Hurricane
Irene. We are located in a historic building that was saved through support from ArtPlace America, NY
State, and the local community. Our mission is to build community hope, strength, and togetherness
through accessible creative outlets, while serving as an incubator for outsider art and expression.
Since opening, we have been offering an ever-growing offerings of art programs and free classes to
people from across the region. We are the first community center of its kind in the town, offering free
dance, painting, and music classes, live music performances and art exhibitions, health and social
services, a public library and community garden, computers & wi-fi, cafe, and a creative space where
anyone is invited to find and develop their inner artist.
Through our artist in residency program, we house talented artists throughout the year who desire to
collaborate with the local community. We hosted 12 artists this year, all of whom taught classes,
hosted open hours, cooked community meals, and encouraged people at PAC to develop their own
artistic abilities. Our local youth often speak about how much they miss our residents once they leave.
As part of our creative placemaking mission, we are committed to creating local jobs and supporting
local businesses - our Associate Director, Music Coordinator, and Facilities Manager all grew up on the
mountaintop, we hire local student interns every summer, and we always aim to buy local.
