Target 4: Discuss the properties of high fire glazes and glaze sculpture.

Introduce how to make a teapot…. One part of this piece must be made on the potter’s wheel
Target(s) to Meet Learning Objective #4
Target 1: Discuss uses of a teapot, different components needed to make the teapot functional.
Discuss the various historical and cultural traditions.
Target 2: Show a set of digital student work discussing the positive and negative aspects of some of
the pieces.
Target 3: Demonstrate how to make a teapot using different techniques… review how to use the
potter’s wheel.
Target 4: Have students research and draw out their pieces. Have them describe how they are to
construct their work.
Target 5: Demonstrate and discuss how to glaze their piece.
Target 6: Critique pieces with demonstrating the work’s ability to be functional and have a tea
party.

Have students learn how to use a slump mold and work with large pieces.
Target(s) to Meet Learning Objective #5
Target 1: Students will watch a set of digital slides which portrays student work.
Target 2: Demonstrate how to use a slump or hump mold.
Target 3: Have students design a project that can use used to hold food items.
Target 4: Remind students of how to handle large work and not leave clay draped over plaster
molds.
Target 5: Discuss needs for type of surfaces needed when wanting the piece to come in contact
with food.
Target 6: Glaze pieces with the correct type of clay they used.

Learning Objective #6
Students will create a project that uses positive and negative space, analogous colors, has added and
subtractive properties with textures.
Target(s) to Meet Learning Objective #6
Target 1: Show students examples of a lantern shape.
Target 2: Demonstrate how to wrap clay around a cylinder shape to begin the form. Show how to
remove cylinder and maintain shape. Remind students to allow the clay to stiffen. They can work
on their ongoing project.
Target 3: Allow students time to create positive and negative spaces, add and remove clay as
needed.
Target 4: Glaze with low fire glazes.

Create a printmaking plate and prepare the room for end of the semester.
Target(s) to Meet Learning Objective #7
Target 1: Show students a set of slides of student work and have them create a design for their
own piece.
Target 2: Etch image into plate and prepare to fire.
Target 3: Demonstrate how to print plate with printer’s ink a several surfaces.
Target 4: Print edition.
Target 5: Collect all work and take home.
Target 6: Clean out cubby and do assigned chore to prepare the room for the end of the semester.
