Primary Research -
Questionnaire
Primary Research - Summary
• My questionnaire is a source of primary research, as it is self made. I
had to create a questionnaire to gather information on my audience.
These questions helped me form and improve my film. It also gave me
a good idea as to what groups my main audience falls under so I can
cater the film more towards them.
Secondary Research - Articles
For my film, I looked at real life stories to use as influence. I found links
to articles which helped me as I then had information gathered for me
to reference at any time. I also used characters from different media as
reference, using encyclopaedia websites as a way to get the
information and influences needed.
Quantitative Data
For a Game Development project, we had to come up with an idea for
a DLC for a video game of our choice. I decided to choose Mario 64 and
make a questionnaire to get an idea of what people like in a Mario
game. These questions helped me develop my ideas as I got a sense of
how many people enjoyed a certain type of game. The questionnaire
also helped me find out what people didn’t want.
Qualitative Data - Questionnaire
For the Game Development questionnaire, I also wanted to gather
detailed answers, as to see what people would like from a DLC. I asked
people what they would want to see in an expansion and the answer
were varied, which was good as I could add a decent amount of new
content, but also take into consideration what mechanics people liked.
Market Research - Presentation
Above is my market research. For this
task, we had to present our script to the
other members of the class. This is a
good example of market research as I
looked into all the films with a similar
style/plot, and saw what kind of
audiences they had, then looked at
my own film and adapted it for that
audience.
Production Research - Pre-Production
• Above is some of the pre-production work that was done for our
group. We had to complete these before we started filming. We
researched where we could go, and where we were allowed to film. We
also researched who we would have to contact to get permission to film,
as well as the risks of the locations.
