The closing of another academic year brings about a mix of emotions but the team at Bamboo Shoots has gone above and beyond to remind us all that we are Bearcats and how truly remarkable it is, that after so many years apart, we are finishing a school year together face to face. our magazine, you will experience the same sense of delight that we felt whilst putting it together for you. We extend our heartfelt appreciation to our dedicated and hardworking team, whose efforts have made this magazine possible. HELP US Help! People are cutting down too many trees and it is hurting the environment. It is bad for the animals, it is bad for the trees and it is bad for us. We are using too much paper and to make paper we need trees. However, the trees can not grow as quickly as we need them. The trees are too small to use or for animals to live in once we cut them down. Animals are losing their habitats! This is because of our need for paper. Recycle Try not to use disposable plastic Do not throw trash on the ground Did you know that Earth is changing? Many years ago there were more trees, fewer buildings and the water was clean. But, after people invented cars and factories to make life easier, the environment started to change. Now, the Earth is becoming damaged. We need to work together to save the Earth. There are simple things you can do to make a real difference: 1. 2. 3. Although these things seem small, if everyone did them, it would make a big difference and together, we would make the Earth cleaner. Doodle World is a Roblox game where you can collect pets that are made of paper. In Doodle World, you can fight trainers to become stronger and stronger. The aim is to turn into a master. When you are ready to go to the portal you will need to fight an NPC. If you lose against the NPC, you will lose your memory and have to create a new memory. However, the more you play, the stronger you become. There are Doodles that are common, uncommon, rare, epic, and legendary. Common doodles are not as good as uncommon doodles. Legendary doodles are the hardest to get. Big cats live in a variety of habitats ranging from savannas and tropical rainforests to mangrove swamps and forests. A tiger uses its stripes to camouflage and then pounce on their prey. Big Cats Sea animals are animals which live in the sea or ocean. Fish, sharks and octopuses are sea animals. Turtles can live without food for 2 months. Sea Animals There are more than a thousand species of birds! All birds have feathers and they are very useful for lots of different reasons such as keeping them balanced when they fly. So that they can fly out of danger. Birds All animals are different some are big, some are small whilst others are tall or short. Every animal has their own power and strength. All of the animals are Different
It is important to know that fashion is for both girls and boys. If you are a boy and you are reading this but the moment you see the word fashion you want to stop reading, think again because it is not all about girls. There are so many amazing menswear designers like Virgil Abloh and Tom Ford. Menswear is just as cool! FASHION 09 / IS IT JUST FOR GIRLS? Fashion is by far my favourite thing about humans. But it does not have to be only humans that enjoy fashion! Some people would love to have someone to play dress up with, that is where pets come in, especially dogs and cats. Have you ever seen a dog in a cute little dress or a cat in a small bow tie? With the help of amazing fashion designers, there could be a new runway for your adorable pets. By Vaanya Paul
KEEPER OF THE LOST CITIES If you love fantasy and you love Harry Potter, this book is for you! Keeper of the Lost Cities is a book about a 12- year-old girl called Sophie. In the book, she finds out she is not who she thinks she is! It is recommended for Harry Potter fans, however, even if you do not like Harry Potter you can book-taste it in the ES Library. There are 9 books in the series plus the 8.5 information book and a comic. The first book was written on October 2nd, 2012. If you are interested in magic or adventure, Harry Potter would be a good series for you. Harry Potter is one of my favorite, favorite books! When I first started reading Harry Potter, I did not enjoy it because i thought it was boring. But I did not give up, I kept reading and now, Harry Potter is my favorite book. The reason Harry Potter is my favourite is because I was really interested in the things that happened at Hogwarts. I always thought it would be so fun if my school was Hogwarts! Gelatissimo is great because the rich fruity flavours are delicious to have with friends on a hot summer day. They have flavours you may have never tried before, such as candy wonderland, green apple, no sugar vanilla, and many more mouth If you are a blink (a Blackpink fan) you must definitely have heard of Rose. In my opinion, Rose is the best singer in Blackpink. Rose has released a solo song called ‘On the Ground’. The official music video is amazing because of the amount of work that went into it such as the part where she is running in slow motion. Rose has such a good voice as well as being a pretty good dancer. Roseanne Park is definitely my idol. / 11 Gelatissimo is Great! By Sophie Duval-Hananogi watering flavours! And if that's not enough for you, they also have toppings such as gummy bears, chocolate chips, candy sprinkles, and they even chocolate straws!!! And if you are picky about sizes well lucky for you! I have most enjoyed meeting so many amazing students, families, and friends in my first year at ISM. JOSH JOHNSON GRADE 1 Having such a close knit community of students! We feel like a little classroom family and it is great to get to know each other so well. MEGAN SHANNON GRADE 2 What have you enjoyed most about your first year at ISM? The students! AN INTERVIEW WITH THE I decided to join the Eco Warriors for one of their Wednesday sessions. I wanted to join because I wanted to learn more about being eco friendly. ECO WARRIORS 14 / Me: What are you learning about today? Zari: Today, we are going on a scavenger hunt and biodiversity walk. Me: What are some of the plant based treats that you have made? Fei Fei: We have made chocolate banana coins and energy bars. Me: What have you most enjoyed about being an Eco Warrior? Ms Shea: I have enjoyed sharing my reasons for going plant based for Mother Earth. Romeo: I have enjoyed planting mongo seeds with our High School friends and I have enjoyed learning about the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals). By Toby Lilly

Why did you want to become an Elementary School principal? Mr.Campbell: I was a teacher at a school, when my principal asked me if I had ever been a leader. MS.MELINDA MS. MARIA What do you enjoy most about teaching and directing Children’s Musical Theater? Creating a team of performers. What's your favorite restaurant in Manila? Mango Tree. What is a typical day for you? I wake up at 6:00am and then I play with my children and eat breakfast. I then go to work. After work, I get home and play with my children some more. I finish the day watching television with Mr. Hopkins. Ms. Melinda has been working at ISM for 6 years. She works in the Elementary School as a counselor, where she has a nice cozy office. Ms. Melinda loves fuji apples and her favorite color is teal. Ms. Melinda is originally from Costa Rica but grew up in America. / 16 Ms Melinda was adopted at a young age because her biological mom was unable to take care of her. However, later in life Ms Melinda visited her mom and her mom was very happy to see her. Her mom hugged her very tightly. Ms. Melinda also has a dog named Noni. She made a funny drawing of her friends called a caricature when she was 16. Miss Valentina has a lucky key chain which she says helps her to be an artist. Miss Valentina became a teacher when she was 23 and has been teaching for seven years. She used her art to make a beautiful vase for her parents as a gift. Miss Valentina’s favorite colour is orange. / 18 Wild flower? No, Wildflour By Maddie and Stephanie Wildflour is a restaurant that serves many types of food such as salmon tartine, wild mushroom salad and mac n’ cheese. Grade 4 student Vaanya says: “The kimchi bacon rice is fantastic!” Not only does Wildflour offer a large variety of meals, they also sell an impressive range of drinks and pastries. Let’s not forget, they also serve ice cream! Overall we think it is a great restaurant but the food is not always as tasty as we would like. Even though it is fast service, sometimes the food is overcooked. We give Wildflour ⅘. Wii jump is a fun place to go. There are trampolines and water bottles and you can get Wii Jump socks too. I love Wii Jump because it is fun to go on the zipline. However, not every Wii Jump has a zipline. There is equipment where you fall backwards and you end up on the trampolines, which I really enjoy.
