Who is Liberty Savard and
What is LIBERTY SAVARD MINISTRIES?
Reverend Liberty S. Savard, President of Liberty Savard Ministries, Inc. (a
501(c)3 non-profit corporation) is an ordained minister with credentials from the
Evangelical Church Alliance (P.O. Box 9, Bradley, Illinois 60915).
Liberty Savard, born again since 1972, has served as a singles director, associate
pastor, speaker, and Bible teacher during the past twenty-nine years. She is the
author of Shattering Your Strongholds (1993 Bridge-Logos Pub.), Breaking the
Power (1997 Bridge-Logos Pub.), Producing the Promise (1999 Bridge-Logos
Pub.), and several mini-books and workbooks. With The Unsurrendered Soul
(2002 Bridge-Logos Pub.), Apples of Gold in Baskets of Silver (2003 Bridge-
Logos Pub.), and BEYOND Shattered Strongholds (2005 Bridge-Logos Pub.),
and the Binding and Loosing Prayer Manual (2009 LSS Publishing). She now
has 15 books in print around the world.
Liberty and this ministry believe the Scriptures are inspired of God, infallible,
and fully authoritative for Christian faith and conduct. Jesus Christ, the Son of
God, was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life on Earth, died on the cross in a
substitutionary work of redemption for mankind, rose again and now sits at the
right hand of the Father. Through Christ’s shed blood and renewal of the Holy
Ghost, justified by grace through faith, man becomes an heir of God with
absolute hope of eternal life. Liberty and this ministry believe that the gifts of the
Holy Spirit are in operation today.
Liberty teaches Christians how to cause their unsurrendered souls (old nature, old
man) to surrender to the will and purposes of God. She also teaches Christians
how to loose emotional baggage from their souls to create room within
themselves to receive all God has promised to them for today. This allows
believers to fulfill their destinies while walking in knowledge and power to bring
glory and honor to God the Father!
Liberty also teaches God’s people how to pray with the Keys of the Kingdom
(Matthew 16:19) to cause things on earth to come into alignment with God’s
already established will in heaven. This ministry is dedicated to training
Christians how to pray purely; how to pray without “want lists” and instruction
manuals for God (so He will know how best to answer their prayers!). Effective
prayers with pure motives declare that God’s will shall be done on Earth as He
has so set it in heaven because He knows better than anyone what is best for
everyone.

Your Year for Exciting Changes!
Mini Course
Welcome to Your Year for Exciting Changes! I recommend that you begin to
record your personal thoughts and feelings as you review the Reading
Assignments and work in this Mini Course Manual. Record these personal
thoughts on the back of these pages when you print them out.
1. Be sure to date your thoughts! You will find the personal thoughts and notes
you record to be a helpful base line or starting point (a comparison to
measure your personal growth by) as you begin to see changes in your life.
There are no spiritual yardsticks or thermometers at your local Bible
bookstore or in your church to show how you are doing in life. Your proof of
spiritual growth comes from seeing how you are currently walking in life’s
lessons and trials, compared to how you previously handled the same types
of lessons and trials.
2. This Your Year for Exciting Changes! manual is accompanied by selected,
revised, and updated excerpts from Shattering Your Strongholds, Breaking
the Power, Producing the Promise, and BEYOND Shattered Strongholds
which will enhance your learning experience.
Carefully read through your Reading Assignments for Your Year for Exciting
Changes! included in this manual to grasp the big picture of the subject being
presented BEFORE you begin to answer the questions on the next pages. This is
to help you begin to understand the concepts and principles.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
This Manual is not about your ability to fill in blanks!
It is to help you imprint
important point reinforcements upon your mind.
It is a proven fact that the more physical senses and actions used in your thought
processes while you are trying to learn something, the better you will retain what
you are learning. Going back after having read the Reading Assignments to
locate and then write down the important points being requested will help imprint
them in your memory.

Using the Keys of the Kingdom prayer principles will cause buried things in your
soul to rise to begin to rise to the surface of your understanding. This may create
some confusion and even anger in your thought processes. This is quite normal if
it happens to you; it happens because you may have never challenged your
unsurrendered soul before. A challenged unsurrendered soul’s reaction can be
quite startling to some people. This is why I repeat: This is quite normal!
Your soul has been trying to hide, bury, or accommodate its painful wounds,
unmet needs, and raggedy emotions for some time. When you step on a piece of
sharp stone or glass and it embeds itself in your foot, if you do not remove it, it
will keep working itself deeper and deeper into the tissue of your foot. Soon your
foot begins to build scar tissue over it. But the foreign object in your foot still
hurts, and you are now limping and favoring that foot.
Soon, you find that your whole body is accommodating that foot. Your back can
begin to slip out of place, your hips can begin to hurt, and you feel bad all over.
If you have an infection or foreign object festering in your body, trying to ignore
it, deny it, or hide it under clean bandages and fresh clothes is neither effective
nor productive. The infection or the foreign object needs to be uncovered, pried
out or scraped out if necessary, and the wound needs to be cleansed. Only then
can it begin to heal.
As you begin to pray with the binding and loosing prayers and continue to
regularly read the Word (both actions reinforce each other), you will find that
you suddenly can believe that God has something good waiting for you. You will
want to cooperate with God more than you ever have. You will want to do
whatever He tells you, instead of just thinking that you have to do it. It will be as
if your every want to will have spiritual hands and feet instead of just being
hopeful thoughts floating around in your head.
The more you understand where your struggles are coming from and what you
can do about them (or what you can stop doing that is contributing to them),
the easier it will be for you to begin to overcome them.

Glossary of Keys of the Kingdom Prayers/Unsurrendered Soul Terms
As you work your way through the different Reading Assignments and this
Manual, you will find yourself reading several different terms and some of them
may be new to you. Here is a list of these terms that you will read about, along
with other terms from your Reading Assignments. If you read and learn what
these terms mean, you will be familiar with them as you begin to participate in
this study:
BAGGAGE (IN THE SOUL – Baggage in your soul is made up of the wrong
ideas, wrong beliefs, wrong mind sets, old patterns of thinking, resentment,
bitterness, unforgiveness, fear, doubt, disbelief in God’s purposes for you, and
the residue and effects of your wrong agreements. Your unsurrendered soul
clings to these in order to validate its belief that you have been used and abused,
and you can’t possibly get over it. Therefore, you should be able to expect others
to treat you differently and to expect less from you.
BIND/TO BIND – to undergird, heal, hold, persuade, steady, cause fragmented
pieces to come back into one whole, and put self under obligation to something
or someone (original Hebrew and Greek meanings). Binding prayers stabilize
you, steady you, give you a spiritual safety harness and a spiritual seat belt tied to
Jesus when you pray them.
BODY – Your flesh, bones, sinews, muscles, and organs that relate to the
physical world and environment around you through your five physical senses of
taste, touch, smell, sight, and hearing.
CONSEQUENCES – Negative things in your life are often the consequences of
wrong choices you have made, while positive things that happen in your life are
often the consequences of right choices you have made. You cannot loose
negative consequences because they are facts; they exist. You can and should
determine that you will learn from them so you don’t have to go through them
again (and again and again).
Right choices will only be learned through practice. You cannot loose bad piano
playing and become a concert pianist—you have to practice playing the piano
again and again to become a good piano player. You can loose wrong patterns of
thinking and wrong beliefs about making choices, but you need to practice
making right choices.
EMOTIONS – The part of your soul that has the ability to feel joy, excitement,
hope, happiness, anger, sadness, fear, discouragement, etc. Feelings are
Your Year for Exciting Changes!
By Liberty Savard
Page 6
sensations that you are aware of that are outside of the sensations you experience
from your five physical senses (smell, touch, sight, hearing, and taste). Your
emotions have the ability to give you a sensation of joy, excitement, hope,
happiness, anger, sadness, fear, discouragement, etc. Emotions arise
spontaneously and are often triggered by a reaction to some kind of stimulus such
as thinking about a pleasant memory, receiving a gift, seeing a loved one, facing
danger, or feeling hopeless about solving a problem rather than through your own
conscious effort to feel them. Emotions are sometimes accompanied by changes
in the body such as elevated blood pressure, flushing of the face, sweating of the
palms, and/or a sense of euphoria.
FLESH – Used mostly to indicate the unsurrendered soul’s actions and
expressions, wrong words, wrong behaviors, and the wrong attitudes of the
unrenewed mind, the unhealed emotions, and the unsurrendered will.
GENERATIONAL-BONDAGE AND CULTURAL-BONDAGE
THINKING – Wrong patterns of thinking that have been formed from close
association with family members who were influenced in their wrong thinking
because of close association with their previous generation’s family members,
and so forth.
HEART – In the Bible, the original manuscripts’ word translated as heart in the
Old Testament was lebab 3824 (a, b) which is described in Gesenius’ Hebrew-
Chaldee Lexicon as the soul, life, the seat of the senses, affections, and emotions
of the mind. This is closely related to the Hebrew word leb 3820 described in
Strong’s as the feelings, the will, and even the intellect. In Thayer’s
Greek/English Lexicon the word translated as heart in the New Testament as
taken from the Greek word kardia means the soul or mind, the fountain and seat
of the thoughts, passions, desires, appetites, affections, purposes, and endeavors.
In different places in this study, you will read soul, heart, or soul/heart which are
all intended to describe the interrelated workings of the mind, will, and emotions.
KEYS OF THE KINGDOM – In Matthew 16:19, Jesus said, “I will give to you
the Keys of the Kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in
heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.” Praying in a
right manner (seeking God’s will in every issue) with the supernatural Keys of
binding and loosing causes things on earth to come into alignment with God’s
already-established will in heaven. These prayers are permanently effective only
when you bind and loose that which is according to God’s will.
LAYERS – The unsurrendered soul creates layers of certain intellectual and
emotional façades along with false personality traits to protect and hide its unmet
Your Year for Exciting Changes!
By Liberty Savard
Page 7
needs, unhealed hurts, and unresolved issues. This layering is the soul’s bottom-
line self-defense system against changes it does not want to make. These layers
are self-focused control issues, self-reliance, self-understanding, self-defense,
self-protection, etc. Their purpose is to cover and hide the soul’s pain and
neediness and old junky thinking just as a new hardwood floor might be laid
down to cover and hide a basement filled with toxic waste.
LOOSE/TO LOOSE – Means to untie, break up, destroy, dissolve, melt, put off,
wreck, crack to sunder by separation of the parts, shatter into minute fragments,
disrupt, lacerate, convulse with spasms, break forth, burst, rend, and tear up
(original Greek meanings). Loosing prayers shatter stronghold thinking, smash
and slash deception, allow you to perform self-surgery on your own soul, and
accomplish victories in the realm of spiritual warfare.
MIND, THE – The part of your soul that has the ability to think, form ideas,
make decisions and choices, and then rationalize and justify its thoughts and
beliefs about those choices.
MIRACLE – A supernatural, divine intervention in the natural realm of daily
life and daily circumstances.
RIGHT AGREEMENT – God has established the act of right agreement as an
immutable law that produces good consequences. Whenever you are in right
agreement with God or with another person in accordance with God’s Word, His
power is always released into your situation.
RIGHT ATTITUDES – The right attitudes you should have as a Christian are
the attitudes expressed by the fruit of the Spirit as listed in Galatians 5:22-26,
(NIV): Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness,
Gentleness, and Temperance (self-control).
“SALVATION” OF THE HUMAN SOUL – The surrender of the soul
(renewing of the mind, surrendering of the will, and healing of the emotions) that
we must all go through in order to walk in alignment with God’s will. These are
necessary elements of the transition of the old creature into the new creature in
Christ.
SALVATION OF THE HUMAN SPIRIT – The incredible transaction of
heaven that was made when you believed that Jesus Christ was crucified to shed
His blood in a final sacrifice for sin—once and for all—whereby He forgave your
sins and gave you a new life to live. Jesus Christ took your sins upon himself and
placed His righteousness upon you so you might be justified in the eyes of our

Page 8
Holy God. He created a blood-bought bridge for your spirit to become eternally
connected to the Spirit of your Creator.
SOUL – The area of your three-part being (body, soul, spirit) that is made up of
your mind, your will, and your emotions. Your soul is unique and very different
from other souls depending upon what experiences, memories, and mind sets
have been stored in it and how deeply it has tried to bury or deny them. Your
born-again spirit is connected to the Spirit of your Creator in the same manner as
everyone else’s, but the unsurrendered human soul is unique from person to
person.
SPIRIT, EVIL – A disembodied entity that operates in the spiritual realm at the
bidding of Satan.
SPIRIT, GOD’S – One-third of the Godhead which is the triune makeup of the
Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. God sent His Spirit to Earth to teach,
comfort, guide, and instruct all Christians after Christ ascended to heaven to sit at
the right hand of His Father.
SPIRIT, HUMAN – Your human spirit was an orphan when you were naturally
born into this world. It had no connection to its heavenly Father when you were
born because of the broken spirit-to-Spirit connection that Adam and Eve caused
when they sinned in the Garden of Eden. The Bible says that you must be born
again to have your spirit connected to and in communion with the Spirit of your
Creator.
STRONGHOLD THINKING – The logic, reasoning, arguments,
rationalization, justification, defensiveness, and denial that your soul uses to
defend its carnal positions and wrong beliefs, hide its neediness and pain, and
rationalize its wrong choices. Stronghold thinking is always involved when you
make excuses for not obeying God’s Word.
TRIPARTITE BEING – Man’s three-part makeup which consists of a body,
soul, and spirit.
UNHEALED HURTS – The second of the three sources of all the pain and
struggle within your soul. Unhealed hurts are birthed whenever you lose
something good that you had been given at one time which contributed to your
being intellectually and emotionally whole. For example, if you were always
raised to feel secure and then you were unexpectedly violated and traumatized,
you would lose your sense of security (causing a big hole in your soul). You
would have an unhealed hurt that only God could heal to make you whole.
Your Year for Exciting Changes!
By Liberty Savard
Page 9
UNMET NEEDS – The first of the three sources of all the pain and struggle
within your soul. Unmet needs were birthed in your soul when you did not get all
the psychological and emotional support you needed as a child to become whole.
For example, if you did not get the love you needed as a young child, you can
grow up with an urgent drive to keep seeking love, even in dangerously wrong
places. Lack of love when you were younger can cause an unmet need for love,
acceptance, and affirmation that no human, no possession, and no amount of
attention can ever meet. Only God can meet such a need and make you whole.
UNRESOLVED ISSUES – The third of the three sources of pain and struggle
within your soul is birthed when you do not know how to productively process
your unmet needs and unhealed hurts. Instead, they become issues and questions
that drive you to try to find out why such things happened to you. Your soul can
drive you to the point of blaming God for them which keeps you from turning to
Him to resolve them and make you whole.
WILL, GOD’S – God has already determined and set His will in heaven about
everything that is taking place and yet to take place. His will is perfect, and it is
not plural; He does not have a perfect will and a permissive will. You are either
in alignment with God’s will or you are not. You are positioned for great things
and miracles when are completely focused upon aligning your will with His.
WILL, HUMAN – That part of your soul that has the ability to enforce the
decisions and choices your mind makes. The strength of your will contributes to
stubbornness, tenacity, and the boldness or courage you will draw upon to push
right or wrong pursuits, depending upon how surrendered your soul is to God.
WORD CURSES – Harsh, cruel, unkind words spoken about you in agreement
with others, spoken directly to you, or even spoken by you about others. These
wrong words can cast doubt and misconceptions about you in the minds of
others, impacting how they react to you, what they think about you, and what
they tell others about you. You can also sin by causing people to think negatively
and incorrectly about others.
WRONG AGREEMENTS – Any time wrong agreements are spoken by you or
about you, the enemy shows up with his power. When wrong agreements are
passed on from generation to generation because of corporate, negative
emotional reactions to wide-scale injustices and persecution, territorial spirits
have a scriptural right to set up domains over the geographical area where these
wrong agreements are made.
Your Year for Exciting Changes!
By Liberty Savard
Page 10
WRONG BEHAVIORS – When the internal drives from the unhealed hurts,
unmet needs, and unresolved issues in your subconscious travel up through your
soul’s layers of self-defense, they emerge in your consciousness as emotional
reactions and symptoms (emotional pain, fear, anger, insecurity, distrust,
neediness, etc.). This distresses and causes your soul to seek old behaviors that
will push them back down into your subconscious in order to decrease its fear
and pain. A stressed soul does not distinguish between wrong and right behaviors
that may give it temporary relief. It will compel the body to repeat any past
behavior that has brought some form of relief.
WRONG BELIEFS – A belief is trust and confidence placed in something even
if you cannot prove it exists. Christians can place their confidence and trust in
right beliefs or in wrong beliefs. Sustained faith in a wrong belief can cause
stronghold thinking to deny what others say about the deception. Loosing wrong
beliefs temporarily displaces them, creating an empty space in your soul. Your
soul will soon move to reestablish them unless you fill that space with right
beliefs from the Word of God (i.e., His love for you, His promise to never leave
you, His plans and purposes for you to have a good life, etc.).
WRONG DESIRES – A strong feeling of wanting to have something or for
something to happen—a longing or craving for something or someone that is
believed will bring satisfaction or pleasure. A desire is neither right nor wrong in
itself; it is the object of the desire that turns it into something good or something
evil. Wrong desires and powerful soulish drives are usually connected to
covetousness, self-gratification, greed, self-indulgence, or carnal attempts to fill
the emptiness inside a soul.
WRONG IDEAS – Your ideas are the representation of your thoughts on a
given subject. The word idea is not used in the King James Bible; instead, the
closest words used are thoughts and imagination. Second Corinthians 10:4-5
speaks of casting down evil imaginations and every high thing that would raise
itself up between you and God so that you can bring every thought into captivity
to the obedience of Christ. When you pray and loose all wrong ideas from your
soul, you are casting them down.
WRONG PRAYERS – Prayers prayed by others or by you that include personal
judgment, critical expressions about others, requests for God to deal with others,
and instructions to God as to what He should do to straighten out other people.

Truth
Binding and Loosing—
Hope and a Future of Miracles!
Jesus said in Matthew 16:19 (KJV): “I will give unto thee the keys of the
kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in
heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.”
Nearly everyone has heard teachings on binding and loosing, depending upon
your church or denomination. Often that teaching is about the binding of the
devil or evil spirits and the loosing of the Holy Spirit or ministering spirits to
send forth help to someone or into some situation.
Do you know that there is no scriptural record of Jesus or any of His
disciples ever binding an evil spirit or a demon?
Do you know that there is no scriptural record of anyone other than God
ever dispatching the Holy Spirit or ministering angels to send help?
Jesus either rebuked the evil spirits or told them to go—to hit the road. Binding
an evil spirit might restrain that spirit’s power temporarily, but Jesus knew this
was not a resolution of the root problem. Jesus was more interested in driving
evil spirits out and away and then correcting the wrong beliefs in the people they
were bothering.
There is NO scriptural precedent for the teaching that we can dispatch the Holy
Spirit to go where we want Him to go, or to dispatch angels to go where we want
them to go. Even in the Garden of Gethsemane, Jesus said that His Father would
dispatch thousands of angels if He just asked Him to.
The original Greek words that are translated as bind in the New Testament mean:
• bind up
• heal
• hold
• steady
• knit
• fasten
• cause fragmented pieces to come back together into one whole
Your Year for Exciting Changes!
By Liberty Savard
Page 12
• tie
• wind around
• to obligate yourself
The most effective us of binding prayers is to stabilize yourself, to steady your
walk, to give you a spiritual safety harness, and to give you a spiritual seat belt to
Jesus.
The original Greek words that are used for loose in the New Testament mean:
• break up
• destroy
• dissolve
• melt
• put off
• wreck
• crack and separate the parts
• shatter into minute fragments
• disrupt
• lacerate
• convulse with spasms
• break forth
• burst
• rend
• tear up
Prayer warriors can get into those words!

The Rest of the Truth
To be a victorious overcomer, you need life-changing, meat-filled, scripturally-
proven, tried and tested, whole truth girded about your loins. This is not what you
believe because your spiritual friend, your favorite television evangelist, or
Liberty Savard tells you it is so. This kind of truth is truth because the Word of
God says it is so.
You can have all knowledge about the truth of the Word and still be undone if
you have not tried to act upon it. Wisdom comes from the experience of acting
upon the knowledge you have. In the original Greek text, one of the meanings for
truth is having nothing concealed. You have to handle and act upon truth to see
what may yet be concealed from your understanding of it.
When someone else opens up a new understanding for you, it remains a second-
hand revelation until you act upon it and experience it first hand. Then it
becomes your revelation truth. Second-hand revelation is usually accompanied
by second-hand faith, which can evaporate quicker than water on a hot griddle
when you are in real trouble.
The Key to Answered Prayer always ends up coming back to the truth that all
blessings, answers, and miracles are not based upon the pray you pray as much
they are based upon how much have you surrendered to God’s will. We generally
don’t even know the best prayers to pray anyway; in fact God already has
answers for questions and needs you have not even thought of yet. He also has
incredible answers for prayers you don’t even know how to pray yet.
Instead of trying to come up with what you think is the best prayer for the best
answer to your biggest needs and problems, you need to go to God as the One
who knows all the right answers because He knows the whole truth. He is the
One who is completely aware of the parts and pieces of our needs and problems
that we don’t have a clue about. We only see the surface of our problems. When
we are only looking for answers to what we are aware of, what a long, long
process we have to go through to stay out of the clutches of fear and worry.
Praying surface prayers about scary symptoms rather than praying right prayers
and making right choices to surrender the source of the problem to God keeps us
hanging on that proverbial rope with a knot tied in the end of it.
Too many Christians quit seeking when surface truth brings them some answers.
Learning surface truth will usually bring one-dimensional, single-layer truth
which requires little effort to understand and brings little growth. Learning whole
Your Year for Exciting Changes!
By Liberty Savard
Page 14
truth requires involvement and commitment to the truth. This kind of truth can
bring growing pains, but God always gives growth in stages we can handle.
Surface truth is like asking your teenager if he has quit pulling his sister’s hair.
He replies that he has and you have surface truth. A smart parent seeks more
layers of that truth and asks the teenager if he is doing anything else to bother his
sister. The whole truth is that he is pinching her, hiding her cell phone, and
making fun of her friends.
This study is about going beyond surface truth and looking for deeper, multi-
layered truth about why your life is not where you want it to be.
God has said to seek and you will find; so your command is to begin
seeking and to keep seeking. Those who continue to seek His full truth
will feel growing pains when their souls’ capacity begins to fill up. The
seeker’s soul starts being loaded up with knowledge and new
understanding from God. If your soul is extremely full of old “stuff,”
constantly being rerun through your mind like bad videos that will not go away,
you are going to feel the pressure and the crowding within yourself.
This is when you need to start cleaning out the corners of your soul to get ready
for the whole truth. The Bible says that when you KNOW the truth, it will set
you free. This means when you have sought the truth, tried the truth, worked with
the truth, and stepped out on the truth to do something you have never done
before. Then the truth is guaranteed to set you free.
A Horse, A Boat, and a Helicopter
Matthew 16:19: “I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you
bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be
loosed in heaven.”
This is a message about using the binding and loosing Keys of the Kingdom in
prayer to open up and clean out the clutter in your soul so you have room to
receive God’s whole truth for you. These are not patty-cake prayers; they are
powerful prayers that can shake you until you find that your old attitudes, wrong
beliefs, and wrong mindsets beginning to fall off like leaves September. You will
begin to feel new, to feel free, and to feel ready for your future.
These prayers are powerfully helpful for you and others in your prayers. They are
powerfully dangerous to your unsurrendered soul’s self-interests and status quo

Page 15
and to the works of the enemy that he tries to send upon your life and the lives of
your loved ones. They will position you right in the middle of the will of God,
aligning you with paths that lead right into your destiny.
The Keys to Answered Prayer always end up coming back to this: Do you really
want God’s will? Or, do you have a preconceived idea about what your answer
should be and that is what you are praying for? Have you prayed for what you
thought you needed and then doggedly stood on your faith until you either got
mad at God or gave up? Sometimes our stands of faith are nothing more than
attempts at spiritual blackmail to get what we really want from God. The old
God’s Word says ... and I’m standing in faith for it until I get it! type of stand.
Perhaps you need to ask yourself if your prayers are simply a form of trying to
get God on board with your plans. Is your most focused time spent with God just
to lay out your needs and desires and hopes?
We all allow, even embrace, things in our life that pander to our souls with things
like movies, television, and shopping instead of strengthening our relationship
with God. Think for a moment about someone who ignored you twenty-three
hours and fifty minutes of the day, but became kind and gracious and
complimentary when they showed up wanting something.
God probably does not measure whether He answers our prayers by how much
attention we pay to Him, but He does respond to those who are eager to spend
time with Him, to read about Him, and to share about Him. He also wants to have
our ear when it is time to help us understand how we are asking for the wrong
things, struggling with the wrong timing, or desiring something that will take
even more of our attention and time away from Him.
What about genuine emergency-oriented crises where we truly do need Him to
intervene in our life circumstances? There is a very interesting little story that has
been around for years, but it is quite appropriate here. A man of strong Christian
faith, John, was warned by horseback rider galloping up to his house shouting
that the river was rising and a flood was coming. The rider offered to let John
ride with him to safety. John said, “I’m a Christian and my God will take care of
me. No thanks, I’ll wait here for His answer.” The water of the river began to
flow into the little valley where his home sat.
A small motorboat came by and the man piloting it called out, “John, there is a
flood coming. Jump into my boat and we’ll head for safety!”
John said, “I’m a Christian and my God will take care of me. No thanks, I’ll wait
here for His answer.” The water continued to rise and John had to hurry up to his

Page 16
second floor to get on the roof. A helicopter flew over his head and the pilot
shouted down, “Get in the basket and we’ll carry you to the top of that cliff
where you will be safe!”
John said, “I’m a Christian and my God will save me. No thanks, I’ll just wait to
see what He is going to do.” The helicopter flew off as the water continued to
rise around John’s house, even around John’s feet on the roof. Finally the flood
swept him away and he drowned. When he arrived in heaven, John was upset.
The first thing he wanted to do was ask God why He hadn’t saved him. “Lord, I
believed in you. I told everyone that you were going to take care of me. I kept
waiting for your answer.”
God replied, “John, I did answer you. I sent you a horse, a boat, and a
helicopter. What more did you want?”
How often has it seemed to you that God was ignoring your prayers, just like
John felt God had ignored him in this story? Your answer may well have come
but it didn’t fit your pre-conceived ideas of what God would or should do. There
are times when answers come, but they are so different from what we expect that
we reject them, saying, “My God wouldn’t do that,” or “My God would never
ask me to do that.” Unless you are deep into working on surrendering your entire
life to God’s will, your soul will always struggle with what God wants to show
you and give you. So, in spite of the prayers you pray or the decisions you make,
your God will still be doing whatever He knows is the best for you to guide back
into the good path He has planned for you.
Perhaps a neighbor is suing you over an issue that started small but grew into a
complication that seemed unreasonable to you. You began to pray for God to
resolve the issue (even though you had not asked His help or advice about the
situation previously). God sends you a horse, only it appears in the form of a
Scripture speaking of loving your neighbor. But you are still waiting for God to
send your answer!
God sends you a motor boat, only it appears in the form of someone speaking to
you about forgiving others. You think, “That certainly isn’t the case of what
needs to be done here!” and you are still waiting for God to send your answer.
God sends you a helicopter, but you are too busy hiring an attorney to countersue
your neighbor. The flood arrives in the form of a verdict in favor of your
neighbor and you are astounded as to why God didn’t answer your prayers. He
sent you a horse, a motor boat, and a helicopter, but your soul’s predetermined
plans kept you from seeing them.

About You and Your Soul
You are a three-part being consisting of:
1. Your spirit
2. Your soul
3. Your body
Your spirit is that part of you that connects with the Spirit of your Creator
supernaturally. Your body is your earth suit that walks around doing things in the
natural realm. Your soul is made up of three parts that consist of:
1. Your mind
2. Your will
3. Your emotions
All babies are born with spirits that are dead to (not linked together with) God’s
Spirit. Adam and Eve caused that problem for us by their disobedience in the
Garden. That is why all people have to be born again to receive that Spirit-to-
spirit connection between man or woman and God. This is what Jesus
accomplished for you on the Cross—He purchased your right to enter into that
connection with His Father’s Spirit.
When you (as a born-again Christian) receive a message of inspiration or
instruction from God, His Spirit speaks into your born-again spirit which then
passes His message on to your soul (your mind, will, and emotions). If your soul
is cluttered up and clogged up by old memories, painfully negative thoughts, and
emotional baggage, God’s words of inspiration, guidance, and love cannot pass
through your soul and into your awareness.
As you clean the old clutter out your soul, God’s messages can begin to pass
from His Spirit to your born-again spirit and right on through to your soul’s
consciousness. Your mind then consciously thinks about what it is hearing, your
emotions check out how they feel about it, and your will is set and ready to act
upon it as soon as your mind says, “This is good. Do it!” If all systems are GO,
then this command is call-forwarded to your body in the natural realm.
Your thoughts perk up, your emotions give a little leap of excitement, your face
lights up, your body feels energized, and you get up off the couch and take your
new understanding and direction from God out into the world. You act upon it,
you share it, and you bless others with it. When every part of you is operating
like this in perfect cooperation with your Father, the miracles flow, answered

prayer and blessings tumble into your life, and you walk in your destiny
purposes.
Your faith resides in your soul, which might give you a clue as to why your faith
has such a struggle to grow sometimes. When your soul is filled with old things
from your past that you have never known how to release, your faith has to try to
grow right in the middle of the toxic waste of your soul’s junk! According to the
original Greek language of the New Testament Scriptures, faith IS your trust and
confidence in the goodness, power, wisdom, and love of God directed towards
you.
God really does want to pour His goodness, power, wisdom, and love out on you;
there are just times when He cannot because He doesn’t really have your
attention focused where it needs to be. Have you ever thought about how God
may let some things happen to you to reveal your own wrong attitudes, reactions,
and self-focus because He could not get you to listen to Him any other way?
Ouch, but true enough! God really is more interested in the development of your
character and the surrender of your soul than He is in making your day go just the
way you want it to.
Pray this prayer and tell God that you are sorry for your impatience, your self-
focus, and your attitudes. Thank Him for the horses, the boats, and the
helicopters, and then work on loosing your preconceived ideas and
misconceptions about what He should do for you. Tell Him that you really do
what to trust Him completely and you are trying! This is how you get your
prayers answered in new and exciting ways.
Lord, I am so sorry I often miss every part of the answers that you send to me. I
get it stuck in my mind that your answer should be A or B, but the best answer is
really C and I don’t recognize it when it shows up. Forgive me for my
impatience, my self- focus, and my attitudes about what you should do for me. I
bind my spirit, soul, and body to you. I loose all doubt and disbelief and I ask you
to come into my soul and heal it from its lack of trust. I do want to truth you. I’m
trying. I love you and I thank you for the Keys of the Kingdom that I am now
learning to use in my prayers. I praise you, Lord. Amen
How Do You Learn to Trust?
You begin to learn to trust when you begin recognizing that there are some
people who never let you down. You learn to have confidence when people or
things are always just what they appear to be. You recognize this happening in
Your Year for Exciting Changes!

Page 19
your thoughts and your emotions. If your damaged emotions, distorted thought
patterns, and unmet needs have convinced you to feel betrayed and ignored by
God, can you see how that affects your confidence in believing that His goodness
will flow towards you?
If you are angry with God, can you see how that affects your confidence in
believing that His power will flow towards you? If you have somehow mixed
your feelings for God with your negative feelings about those who have taken
advantage of your love, can you see how that affects your trust and confidence in
His love for you?
Many hurting people have souls filled with a strong sense of having been unfairly
treated, which results in ugly feelings of unforgiveness towards others. Thee ugly
feelings are deep within your soul, requiring you to voluntarily decide to clean
them out. There are many ways to do this, some taking years. The Keys of the
Kingdom binding and loosing prayers help you cooperate with throwing the junk
so that God’s divine help can cleanse, repair, and heal these areas.
All Christians want to believe and have faith when they pray for God to help
them, but many times they just give up when nothing seems to change. How
many times have you prayed and asked God to fix your pain and chase away
your fear, and you felt nothing except that your faith felt like mush? The Holy
Spirit is the great Comforter and Teacher, but He will not shove His way into
your soul to begin throwing out the toxic waste and then starting to clean up,
renew, and heal your mind and your emotions. He waits for your invitation and
your cooperation.
God cannot pour miracle answers into a soulish mixture of doubt, fear, and
anger! Still, He desires for you to invite Him into your deepest, darkest areas. He
wants you to believe in Him and to be willing to cooperate with Him so His
Spirit can begin to cleanse and heal you. This study is about learning how to
cooperate with God as His Spirit mends your broken heart and gives you the best
possible answers that will give you great freedom and joy.
We often forget to think about how we are actually thinking. That is sort of
expecting that the fox has to notify you if any holes and weaknesses pop up in the
hen house. It is to the fox’s benefit to keep you from knowing of these
weaknesses so that he can take advantage of them. It is also to your
unsurrendered soul’s advantage to keep you from thinking about or recognizing
the wrong thoughts you are thinking.
Your Year for Exciting Changes!
By Liberty Savard
Page 20
I spoke with a friend in the ministry a few months ago, a friend who was very
tired, discouraged, and struggling. She said, “I just have to believe that I cannot
believe anything my mind or emotions are trying to tell me right now.”
Amen! When you are tired or discouraged, your soul sometimes goes into
overdrive to convince you that every negative thought or emotion it puts forth is
true. “It’s true, it’s all true! You’re not going to make it; you’re failing on every
front. Listen to me. You aren’t going to make it, you’ve never had a chance, and
no one cares!” At the first sign of fatigue or weakness on your part, your soul
recognizes that it as the best possible time to attack your spiritual beliefs, your
hopes and dreams, and your relationship with God.
I have had people tell me that they don’t have any problems with their thought
life because they just take authority over their thoughts and emotions.
Unfortunately, this does not work. Your soul may try to deceive you into
thinking that it is subject to your decision to take authority over it—which it does
by backing off on the wrong thoughts and emotions temporarily. All the while,
your soul is planning to come at you another way.
Just Take Authority Over It?
The part of you that would allow you to take authority over anything is your will,
and your will interacts closely with your thoughts and emotions. Rarely (if ever!)
will your soul stand up against itself or the rest of The Committee (the
unrenewed mind, the unsurrendered will, and the unhealed emotions); and therein
lies the key to understanding why the Keys of the Kingdom prayer principles can
be so valuable to you! The prayer principles using the binding and loosing keys
allow you force your soul to give up its wrong thoughts and its wrong emotional
reactions and responses.
What does it mean when you say you are going to take authority over something,
perhaps your own thought life? In order to exercise any kind of authority, there
must be a source ready, willing, and able to back up any delegated secondary
agent of that authority with an adequate reserve of power.
Your desire to take authority over your feelings and thoughts is admirable, but
you would have to fight yourself to do so. That is an internal civil war that you
can’t win. Your soul’s will power will not stand up (for any length of time)
against the combined force of a negative mind and negative emotions determined
to express themselves. Your will cannot control your inner thoughts and your
Your Year for Exciting Changes!
By Liberty Savard
Page 21
emotions for very long. The only answer to changing negative thoughts is that
you need to change how you think.
The description above of a source with an adequate reserve of power certainly
fits our God. But you need to understand exactly what God will back up
according to your spoken words and beliefs. You can try to take authority over an
empty gas tank all day long, and your car still won’t run. You can try to take
authority over a stack of bills all day long and they still won’t be paid at the end
of the day. Christians can speak with the authority of Christ only when it furthers
His plans and purposes—not when you just wish to get yourself out of something
unpleasant or out of the consequences of your own wrong choices.
About Praying Amiss
People who are in a great deal of pain and fear and bitterness almost always pray
amiss. They pray for things that would bring more hurt and grief if God sent such
answers to them. Even if they are praying for things that God knows He wants to
give them at some future point, the toxic mixture of their souls’ wrong thoughts
and negative feelings could cause them to misinterpret and even misuse and
abuse the answers if they came before they were prepared to receive them. You
would not able to handle and properly use powerful answers when you are mired
down in the bad consequences of your wrong choices.
You are the one who is still choosing to make wrong choices today. Wrong
choices others made for you are in the past and should be forgiven. You do not
have to allow your mind to keep recycling the effects of wrong choices other
people made for you (as a child, as an employee, as an abused spouse, etc.).
When people fall short of being perfect in raising children or even in the way
they treat others, it is because they were raised by people who fell short of being
perfect. And those people were raised by people who fell short of being perfect!
At some point you have to recognize that trying to find someone to blame for
shortcomings in how you were raised is going to take you on a forever trip clear
back to the Garden of Eden. There is a better way to think about this!
Nowhere in the Bible can you read that God will use His power to override and
change your thought life. But He has given you the Keys of the Kingdom which
allow you to pray with all of their supernatural power (power is another word for
authority) to clear wrong beliefs, wrong thought patterns, and wrong attitudes out
of your soul. This makes room within your soul (mind, will, and emotions) to
allow God’s love to flow into you and take root within your inner being.
Your Year for Exciting Changes!
By Liberty Savard
Page 22
God has instituted prayer is to build a relationship with you and to give you that
point of agreement with Him. He does not want to answer prayers prayed amiss
that will lead you into temptation or sorrow. He wants to have communion with
you. Many people have been taught that prayers are what you say to God to get
what you want, preferably without having to worry about whether God agrees or
not.
Effective prayer is not praying loudly enough, praying every ten minutes,
nagging God, or sobbing pitifully while you pray. Effective praying means that
all of your prayers are focused on getting every square inch of your soul into
alignment with God’s great and wonderful plans for your life. It means getting
yourself into a position to let go of all of your old stuff and making room to
receive answers, healings, blessings, and miracles so that you can break out into
your destiny plans with Him!
About Old Mind Sets
Every believer comes to Christ with certain old mind sets of misinformation
rooted in wounds. When scabby old mind sets are buried in your soul, you will
often be tempted to mishandle God’s Word. A mind set is a habitual, fixed
(sometimes frozen and rigid!) mental attitude or disposition that predetermines
how you will respond to and interpret situations in exactly the same way every
time.
If you have often been lied to, you will suspect everyone because you expect
others to lie to you. If you have had a very bad experience with a dog, you will
react to all dogs as being dangerous. If those you have tried to love have
mistreated you, you will decide that love is nothing you want.
You will also have a tendency to shift these same mind sets and wrong
perceptions onto how you feel about God. Inside you is a picture of God formed
by:
• What you have read
• What you have been taught
• Your interpretations of your personal experiences
• Your memories of and your feelings about your past
Your Year for Exciting Changes!
By Liberty Savard
Page 23
You can tell everyone, God included, that you love Him, and still have a wrong
mind set about how He feels about you. This is not an unusual attitude in people
who have come out of difficult relationships. We often transfer our feelings about
our difficult relationships to our picture of God. Saying you love God is not as
powerful as being so willing to show your love to Him that you will do anything
He asks you to do—either His commands in the Bible or what He speaks to you
in your times of prayer and communion with Him. Action really does speak
louder than most words.
Understanding His Word and experiencing His love and power
should be the determining factor in forming your picture of God.
Do You Know Who You Really Are?
Old mind sets can strongly affect your image of yourself. Your self-image is
made of what you think about your life in the following areas:
• How smart you think you are, which can be badly damaged by other peoples’
opinions and expectations of you.
• How honest and rational you believe your feelings are, which can be badly
damaged by other peoples’ putdowns and teasing.
• How you feel about your ability to respond to problems, situations, and other
people, which can be distorted because of past mistakes you have made and
the criticism you have received over them.
• How you feel about your ability to trust and to love, which we all know can
be really messed up!
Let’s focus on something that we all need to learn right now.
If you think or feel something negative about yourself,
that is coming from your old mind sets and/or from the devil.
You need to retrain your mind’s and your emotions’ perception of your self-
image as being the image of someone who is becoming aware that he or she is
loved, valuable, and infinitely precious to the King of Kings. Using the binding
and loosing prayers will definitely help here, but more about that later.
The closest thing to your being able to take authority over yourself is when you
choose to both receive and to cooperate with the Fruit of the Spirit. The fruit of
self-control (or temperance which means to choose to practice self-restraint)
helps you to recognize and want to loose (eliminate) wrong patterns of thinking.
Your Year for Exciting Changes!
By Liberty Savard
Page 24
Allowing your soul to keep recycling its wrong patterns of thinking will keep you
from wanting to bind your mind to the mind of Christ to hear His right thoughts.
You need to focus on the results of cooperating with the Fruit of the Spirit (which
will be covered in a later Mini Course). Keeping focused means you choose to
not allow any worldly, soulish, or demonic distractions to interfere with whatever
results you are expecting.
What are worldly, soulish, and demonic distractions? Attempts of others, your
soul, and the enemy to convince you that you do not really want or will never
attain what you are hoping to have. You keep these distractions from interfering
by staying focused on your spiritual goal or goals, by binding your will to God’s
will, and by loosing any worldly, soulish, or demonic distractions that would
interfere with God’s plans and purposes to bless, prosper, and give you fantastic
opportunities that will fulfill you and give you great joy.
Successful athletes exercise self-control as they are training because they have a
clearly defined purpose or goal. Having a clearly defined purpose or goal for
your Christian walk and destiny helps you to focus on thinking right thoughts.
Not having any self-control and making wrong choices have a lot to do with not
having a clear goal in your mind.
As Paul wrote his letter to the Philippians from jail, he said in Chapter 2:10 (The
Message) that whoever had thrown him in jail had not shut him up. They had
only given him a new pulpit to preach from! That is an incredible way to think
about something that would floor some of today’s Christians. Paul knew what his
goal and his purpose were. If you were suddenly wrongfully thrown into jail,
could you see that as an opportunity to have the opportunity of a jail ministry
right down where the rubber meets the road?
“I can hardly wait to continue on my course. I don’t expect to be embarrassed
in the least. On the contrary, everything happening to me in this jail only serves
to make Christ more accurately known, regardless of whether I live or die.
They didn’t shut me up; they gave me a pulpit!”
Paul is such an excellent role model for the right way to think about everything in
this life all the way to your death, which is also your graduation to being present
with the Lord in heaven. Paul’s goal for living or dying is quite amazing. He did
not worry about what he had not yet done in his life or what he still wanted to be
able to see and do if he was to suddenly die. Instead he said the following
(Philippians 1:22-25, The Message) as he thought about what his life was like:
Your Year for Exciting Changes!
By Liberty Savard
Page 25
“As long as I’m alive in this body, there is good work for me to do. If I had to
choose right now, I hardly know which I’d choose. Hard choice! The desire to
break camp here and be with Christ is powerful. Some days I can think of
nothing better. But most days, because of what you are going through, I am
sure that it’s better for me to stick it out here.”
His thoughts about staying alive and finishing his work were focused on what
would be better for those he would be influencing as long as he was with them.
He decided they needed the message and the love he would share with them more
than he needed to be with Christ in heaven. That is right thinking to the max! Ask
yourself if you could choose to live or die today, what would truly most affect
your thinking about making this choice?
Do You Have a Goal?
What goals do you have for your Christian destiny? Is your goal just to tie a knot
in the rope you desperately clinging to and hang on until the Rapture? What
excuses pop into your thinking for not having a clear cut goal for your destiny
and for your relationship with God? Here’s an important goal for you right here:
CHANGING THE WAY YOU THINK. Changing how you think is also a key
factor to enhancing the life you are currently living, not just the final goal of
getting to heaven.
Having a godly goal for right now makes it is easier for you to make right
decisions every day because you can line up any choice you face with the
parameters of the goal you have set.
In the natural realm, for instance, suppose one of your immediate goals is to fit
into your old Navy uniform for a special honor ceremony at your church. This
pre-set goal helps you focus on getting up and jogging in the morning. If one of
your immediate goals is to find a way to volunteer in orphanages in Mexico for
the summer, that pre-set goal can help you can focus on choosing whether or not
you should sign up for that expensive luxury cruise to Italy this year. Having a
real goal helps you think right thoughts which helps you make right choices
which helps you achieve your goal.
So what reasonable, actual, attainable spiritual goals have you pre-set in your
mind? If one of them is get up early and read the Bible every morning, you are
going to have to change how you think about crawling out of the bed earlier than
usual. If one of your pre-set goals is that you want to take a missionary trip, then
you need to start thinking about learning some of the language, learning

By Liberty Savard
Page 26
something about the culture, and how to set up a budget to help you finance your
trip. If one of your goals is to show love to others in a more tangible way, then
find a place where you can especially show love to people others prefer to ignore.
While these are not necessarily goals you will act upon every day, every single
action you take to move towards these goals will enhance your daily life and your
relationships.
Bind your will to God’s will and timing for your goal or goals, and then loose
any worldly, soulish, or demonic distractions and reactions that would cause you
to think you can’t attain the goal. If God tells you this is not His goal for you in
the time frame you were expecting, then He will help you understand that He has
a better goal for you for right now. God loves to help you and support and
provide for you to attain good, godly goals that line up with His will for your life.
He may just not do it in your understanding of His timing.
Our ministry once received a very large donation from someone who said they
had wanted to give a sizable donation to our ministry seven years earlier, but God
had said not yet. This person invested the money and waited on God’s further
directives. This person had a goal that was submitted to God for His timing and
His direction. Seven years later God told this person to sell and release the
invested funds to our ministry, funds which had quadrupled by that time! God’s
way is always the best way.
This person’s integrity and willingness to be in God’s will however long it took
to bear fruit is remarkable! This person could have gone ahead and given us the
donation seven years earlier. Or because of the incredible growth of the funds,
that person could have decided to hold back part of the funds and just bless us
with the rest. However, because of integrity and obedience to God’s directives,
when the goal of donating to the ministry was eventually achieved, it was
achieved four times greater than that person originally intended!
About Changing How You Think
You finally see a goal for your life that you are sure is from God. Then He says
wait or even harder, He says nothing. So you pray and hope and wait. If you do
not know how to release the negative thoughts that can come from having to wait
with no response from God, they can get pretty out of control some times. So
what do you do with them? First of all, remember that you cannot take authority
or speak control over your thoughts! You must focus on changing the way you
think which requires some form of action.
Your Year for Exciting Changes!
By Liberty Savard
Page 27
God will not control your negative thoughts and emotional reactions for
you!
The Keys of the Kingdom binding and loosing prayers can help you dislodge
wrong thoughts that arise in you mind, wrong thoughts that can keep your answer
and His supernatural help from showing up. Reading the Word of God can then
help you plant new patterns of thinking in the area you have just cleared out of
your soul. As you read the Word while praying the binding and loosing prayers,
you will begin to see things in a new way of knowing how to choose what to do
and then choosing to do it!
You can actually have two pictures of God
• What you should believe about Him.
• What you actually do believe about Him.
What you have learned about God has had to filter down through the beliefs—
right and wrong—that already existed in your mind. Christians, lay people, and
spiritual leadership do not always understand this fact. Many in church leadership
assume scripturally correct teaching will automatically clear up any wrong ideas
someone might have about God. Theoretically, good teaching on trust, love and
faith should enable anyone to trust and love God with complete faith. And it
usually will—eventually.
The problem is, no one can tell you how long eventually might be.
Scripturally correct truth cannot always penetrate
a soul filled with self-defenses and self-protective mechanisms.
But He’s God! Can’t He just zap us with the truth? Yes, God can sovereignly
impart revelation knowledge any time He wants to. However, His work of
renewal takes place within the framework of our minds, wills, emotions,
memories, experiences, and beliefs, which can be pretty damaged and distorted.
Some people just say, “Lord, take away my bad memories. Please make me
forget my bad experiences. Please give me right beliefs. Lord, change how I do
this...help me stop that….” Your heavenly Father does NOT change, bypass, or
override your bad memories; He does not take away the residue of bad
experiences if your soul is clinging to them; and He does not set right your wrong
beliefs if your soul insists upon rerunning them.
Your Year for Exciting Changes!

Page 28
He just keeps offering His love and truth until you finally become
willing to exchange our old beliefs and old ideas for them.
About Unrenewed Minds
A Christian can be born again and still have an unrenewed mind, a mind filled
with rigid mind sets formed from wrong sources. This is a mind that can and
often will distort spiritual truth. The Christian’s mind is not automatically
renewed at the point of new birth. This is why the mind needs to undergo a
continuing process of washing in the Word.
Romans 12:2 (Amplified): “Do not be conformed to this world (this age),
[fashioned after and adapted to its external, superficial customs], but be
transformed (changed) by the [entire] renewal of your mind [by its new ideals
and its new attitude], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what is the good
and acceptable and perfect will of God, even the thing which is good and
acceptable and perfect [in His sight for you].”
Most minds come into the state of salvation stubbornly filled with old attitudes,
wrong patterns of thinking, and some pretty strange ideas. Many of these old
ideas and attitudes are protected by self-erected strongholds in the mind. The key
to receiving renewal as fast as possible is to tear down the strongholds protecting
those wrong mindsets.
Some Christians never accomplish this. Instead, they spend their entire lives
trying to interweave their unrenewed ideas about God into His truth.
For instance, some believers never get past believing that God accepts them
when they are good and angrily turns away and ignores them when they fail. Too
many in the Church today see themselves in terms of their pasts, their unhappy
upbringing, their shattered marriages, their lost jobs, their lack of money, etc.
They do not see themselves in terms of their potential in Christ, which is how
God always sees them.
The Bible clearly states, in the tenth chapter of Romans, that when we have
confessed with our mouths that Jesus is Lord and we believe in our hearts that
God raised Him from the dead, then we are saved. God’s Word also states that
when we are saved, we are new creatures; new creatures are free of the guilt and
punishment for past sins.
Your Year for Exciting Changes!
By Liberty Savard
Page 29
This is God’s will; but your mind, will, and emotions have to choose to come
into agreement with God’s will in heaven. God will not force you to do so, but
He will help you do it once you decide that this what you want.
“It is God Who is all the while effectually at work in you—energizing and
creating in you the power and desire—both to will and to work for His good
pleasure and satisfaction and delight” (Philippians 2:13, Amplified).
It is amazing how many people allow their souls to distract them from identifying
their wrong thought patterns for so long that they don’t even notice when their
thoughts head down the wrong road. Dear people, faithful in church and always
ready to give, can shout amen and agree enthusiastically with everything the
speaker is saying. Then these same people can get up and walk out after Sunday
church, go to lunch with other Christians, and join right in with gossiping and
criticizing the pastor.
If this describes you and you have real friends who care, they should lovingly
point this out to you. If you would insist that you are fine and you love the pastor
and you can’t believe your friend just said that to you, you are in trouble. If you
say you only wish the pastor could see what he is not doing right and then start
doing it, it is you who are in trouble. If you say that you really weren’t aware you
were doing that, so it wasn’t intentional and that doesn’t count, you are in
trouble. I saw a funny cartoon recently of a lady ignorantly walking out of a
public bathroom with her dress caught up in the back of her panty hose. The
caption said: Ignorance of the fact does not change the fact!
You need to settle a goal in your mind and think about it. If you have the goal of
truly being who God wants you to be, you will be able to admit that you may
have a problem with your thought life. You will be able to admit you may have a
problem with the words of your mouth. You may also be able to admit that you
don’t always welcome correction even when it is made in love. This is not easy
for anyone, and without a goal in mind, your soul can find dozens of ways to
rationalize and justify the wrong words you have spoken out of the wrong
thoughts of your heart (soul).
If you truly set a goal of making right choices and thinking right thoughts, you
can ask the Holy Spirit to help you. Bind your will to God’s will and bind your
mind to the mind of Christ. Then remember to be faithful in refilling your mind
with the reading of the Word.

Here’s the Pattern
God is not asking you to find all of your own weaknesses and failings and correct
them all by yourself. God is asking you to be willing to be aware of your
shortcomings (as He or one of His special agents point them out to you) and then
to want to do something about them. You cannot make yourself be kind or
patient or gentle by commanding yourself to become these things, but His grace
will work in you as you follow this pattern:
1. Pray with the Keys of the Kingdom, binding your will to God’s will and
loosing all wrong beliefs and attitudes from your soul to make room to
receive God’s grace and His fruit
2. Take action on what He tells you and reveals to you
3. Practice (take action) what you learn from reading the Word
4. Enjoy the fruit of the experience you gain through doing this and share
it with others
Every thought pattern and word spoken will bear fruit of some kind. Kind
thought patterns and words will bear the fruit of kindness, blessing, joy, peace,
and love. Evil or cruel thought patterns and words will bear the fruit of death,
ruin, and calamity. The choice is yours. The help you need to make the right
choice comes from Him, and it will be freely given to the one who sets his or her
goal as wanting to be able to change the wrong thinking in their souls.
Discover Your Purpose
in God’s Kingdom
Our God is a very personal God. He loves you intensely, having made you with a
unique potential to bring joy and pleasure to Him in a way no other human being
can. He wants to give you good things, He wants to use you in special ways, and
He wants to show you off.
You need to lighten your load (interpretation: get rid of your old baggage) to be
ready for such a great adventure. You need let the Holy Spirit turn some of the
Scripture you should be reading every day into backstage passes to see the real
workings behind the experiences that will become wisdom and understanding to
you.

Page 31
Reading the Bible fifty times does not guarantee spiritual wisdom and
understanding unless you turn what you read into experience and then apply it to
your relationship with Him. John records Jesus’ strong words to the Jews in:
John 39-40 (The Message): “You have your heads in your Bibles constantly
because you think you’ll find eternal life there. But you miss the forest for the
trees. These Scriptures are all about me! And here I am, standing right before
you, and you aren’t willing to receive from me the life you say you want.”
Receiving from Jesus can be a tricky thing when your soul is still trying to
maintain its control over your life. Your mind is like a computer that is
constantly gathering information from the world through the incoming e-mails of
your senses. Your mind receives or rejects this input according to what it has
already been pre-programmed to receive. It then analyzes what it decides it will
accept to arrive at various conclusions. These conclusions are strongly influenced
by what your senses perceive as truth.
Unfortunately, your senses can be completely deceived—
as anyone knows who has ever watched a magician or a ventriloquist.
Your emotions are like powerful, God-given spices to brighten up and flavor
your life. These emotional spices add delicious flavor at times, or they can
overpower and ruin everything when poured out in huge amounts. Just imagine
the difference in an apple pie made with half a teaspoon of the cinnamon and
nutmeg compared to an apple pie made with a bucket of cinnamon and nutmeg.
Once your mind is filled with the input of your physical senses (taste, touch,
smell, sight, hearing) and the flavoring of your emotions (running all the way
from mild interest to full blazing fireworks), you mind informs your will what
kind of action is appropriate—fight, flight, fidget, or file for later.
Sometimes your mind authorizes a reaction quite the opposite
of what your born-again spirit would advise.
So, you have made some mistakes. We have all made mistakes. It has also been
said that if you are not making any mistakes, then you are not really trying hard
enough to get out there into the thick of your future! Regardless of what anyone
tells you, the truth is this—God’s plan and purposes for you are NOT diminished
because you messed up in the past, or because you messed up this morning.
Now that’s a miracle!
Your Year for Exciting Changes!

Page 32
If you are not willing to receive God’s grace and mercy for restoration and
wholeness, this is the only thing that can truly diminish your present, your future,
and your relationships with the Lord and others. Taste of His help and His love,
and then work with Him to keep moving forward.
Know Your Enemy,
Just Don’t Stress About Him
Both your unsurrendered soul and Satan will battle you any time you try to
pursue God’s plans for your future. Satan is always waging some kind of battle to
prevent you from doing that. You are not just some faceless, no-name, little
Christian to Satan. He knows your name, your phone number, your website
address, your e-mail address, your street address, your fears, your worst
memories, and your strongholds; he customizes his attacks upon you accordingly.
However, the One in you who is greater, happens to be the One
who chose your name, your phone number, your e-mail address,
and your street address today before you were ever born!
Satan also knows that your fear and your stronghold thinking are his only edge
over your life, and he has been using your wrong patterns of thinking to access
and attack you for years. You have probably believed you have been protecting
yourself by the stronghold thinking and its defenses that your soul has built, but
you have actually been cooperating with Satan’s plans against you. Let’s address
the strongholds here.
About Stronghold Thinking
What is stronghold thinking? Second Corinthians 10:3-5 (NIV) tells us this:
“For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The
weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they
have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every
pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive
every thought to make it obedient to Christ.”
The original Greek word for stronghold basically means to protect something by
holding it safely. It also means the logic and the arguments and reasoning we will
Your Year for Exciting Changes!
By Liberty Savard
Page 33
use to defend and protect what we believe, hence the term stronghold thinking.
We engage in stronghold thinking to protect and defend what we have chosen to
believe about ourselves, about others, and about God—especially when we are
completely wrong.
If you have believed and bought into a lie, your soul will fight as hard as it can to
protect that wrong belief. The lie might be that you are unloved, unwanted,
unnecessary, unsuccessful, unworthy, or any of those other ugly un-words. The
lie might be that you can never be happy because your father left you, your
mother didn’t want you, you have been through a painful divorce (or two or three
of them), you have had too many broken relationships, or you have had great
losses.
If you have decided your particular lie must be true, your soul will immediately
engage stronghold thinking to defend your right to believe that lie. Your soul will
reinforce its stronghold thinking whenever it feels something or someone is
threatening to upset the lie. Repeated attempts by those around you to convince
you of the lie will be perceived by your soul as attacks. That will cause your soul
to build its protective walls of wrong thinking thicker and higher.
Stronghold thinking is comprised of your soul’s logic, reasoning, arguments,
justification, defensiveness, and denial about what it believes and will spit back
out word for word whenever it feels challenged. Stronghold thinking is the
structure of the mind traps that your soul uses to convince you that your cheating
mate really does love you, that your abusive and alcoholic friend really is a good
Christian, that you are too dumb to succeed in anything important, that you will
never get out of debt, or that everyone around you thinks you are inferior to them
(just for example).
Two of Satan’s most important weapons are deception and fear, and he is quite
brilliant at using them against you. He uses both of them to attack the following
vulnerabilities in your soul:
• unmet needs
• unresolved issues
• unhealed hurts
• bad memories
• pain
• anger
• bitterness
• unforgiveness
• hidden sins
Your Year for Exciting Changes!
By Liberty Savard
Page 34
• and more
He will trick you by circumstances and situations that reinforce your hurt and
fear of having these areas exposed. Your soul equates exposure of its secrets and
its pain with great danger. Yet it will do just about anything, even placing you
into or convincing you to remain in dangerous relationships to make you feel
better about yourself. Whatever good feelings this brings always end up being
temporary and unsatisfactory.
Satan has kept very good records of your life. He and his demonic pals know
exactly how to use their storehouse of information to bring about predictable
responses in you. Don’t buy into the flippant remarks or ignorant songs that
portray Satan as stupid or as being “under your feet.” Satan is still far smarter
than you or me or anyone else here on earth, and every time we put one foot over
the line, he’ll prove it to you.
As a believer, you are protected by the blood of Jesus Christ, but stronghold
thinking in your mind will allow Satan to pull off the demonic equivalent of
“drive by” shootings at your soul. His bullets are more lies, deceptions, fear
tactics, and other attacks that cause you anger, humiliation, and embarrassment.
This, in turn, causes you to engage in more stronghold thinking—nasty cycle.
He cannot read your mind, but he is aware of everything that has ever happened
to you. He knows how to use that knowledge to force you to react and respond
exactly as he wants you to. The answer is to loose the stronghold thinking from
your mind by loosing the erroneous logic, the faulty reasoning, the invalid
arguments, the wrong rationalizations and justifications of your actions, the
defensiveness, and the denial from your soul.
Stronghold thinking put in place by your soul to protect itself
from being re-traumatized also keeps God’s truth and His help out.
An evangelist once said, “We’ve all been used and abused in the past, but that’s
not our problem. The problem is this—what are we going to do about it now?”
Far too many Christians are living under fear of their past traumas. The only real
power those past traumas have over you today is in your memory, which resides
in your soul.
As you learn how to pray effectively and to force your soul to give up that which
is toxic to your today, you will open yourself up to miracle healing for both your
today and your tomorrows.

Two Kinds of Binding
One thing that has confused believers is that there are actually two sides to
binding, a negative side and a positive side. There is a side of binding which
imprisons and chains and ties something up, and there is a wonderful, helpful
side of binding which holds and heals and “ties you to” God.
Today’s understanding of the use of the word bind generally means to restrict,
shackle, or to tie up. The use of the word bind in Matthew 16:19, 18:18 has a
positive meaning: to tie to. That is very exciting! So many people see only the tie
up side of binding that produces a mental image of chaining something so it
cannot hurt them. It took a word picture of a parent binding a baby to his or her
body to help me express the positive tie to side of binding.
Think about the parents who used to bind babies to their bodies with cloth baby-
wraps back in the sixties. When that little one was bound to the parent, wherever
the parent went, the baby went. The baby had a distinct personality and thoughts
of its own, but it was bound to and experiencing the more mature will of the
parent. If the parent went into sunshine and warmth, the baby went into sunshine
and warmth. If the parent came into the presence of a sweet scent or a pleasant
sound, the baby smelled that same sweet scent and heard the same sound. When
the parent avoided dangerous situations, the baby avoided danger.
Essentially, the baby became as one with the parent even though it was still an
individual. Since the things of God are constant and you and I can be all wobbly
at times, it makes sense to bind yourself to the steadfast things of God.
In praying with these Keys, you begin by binding your will to the will of God. As
you work with this simplest form of binding, you will begin to feel a gentle
steadying throughout your day. Bound to His will, you will begin to feel more
secure in walking through your day. In doing this, you are aligning yourself with
the words of Christ as He prayed, “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your
name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is heaven” (Matthew
6:9-10, NIV). You will be choosing to line up with God’s will as you do this.
Jesus said in Matthew 16:19 that whatever I bound on earth, it would be bound in
heaven as well (if it was in accordance with the work He had left for me to do). I
later realized that whatever Jesus had left for me to do was already bound to and
part of the Father’s will in heaven. These prayers allowed me to tie myself to the
Father’s will so that I might draw upon all of His power, resources, and love to
complete what Jesus left for me to do.

The Keys of the Kingdom prayers allow me to be the point of agreement on
Earth with whatever God has determined His will should accomplish. When I
The binding prayers do not mean that God has pray right prayers agreeing
to agree with everything I pray. that His will in heaven
needs to be manifested in
lives and circumstances on Earth, God sees that it is done. Praying this way
brings about the manifestation of what God wants. However, the Keys of the
Kingdom prayer principles will not get you what you think you need unless is the
same thing the Father knows you need to walk out your destiny purposes.
These prayer Keys allow you to come into agreement with God regarding your
life and the lives of others without needing details or having to make judgment
calls so you can pray. Some unsurrendered souls do not believe this is a good
thing, but I find it a great comfort to know that I don’t have to ferret out and
analyze all of the details of a situation to pray very effectively for everyone
involved.
When you pray for others to cause things in their lives to agree with what the
Father has already established in heaven, the Father always does what is best for
everyone.
It is a strange thing to my mind, but the Sovereign God over everything that
exists in every realm has chosen to involve us in the playing out of His will here
on Earth. He looks for someone to agree that He knows what is best for every
person in every circumstance. I wonder if He doesn’t walk up and down the edge
of heaven sometimes saying, “Why won’t someone agree that I not only know
what is best, but I know exactly how to bring it to pass in those lives?”
Begin to bind yourself to an understanding of the truth of God. Deception rarely
comes at you in pure black; more often than not, it comes in shades of off white
and pale grey. Off-white deception can be misinterpreted by your physical senses
and your mind. You need more than your brain to recognize Satan’s tricks. To
tap into that “more” requires you to start offloading (loosing) some of the
existing deception in your soul.
As I began to do this, I had a new awareness of missing pieces in situations. It
took time, but I was focusing in bit by bit on what the Holy Spirit wanted to show
me. I even got glimpses of new spiritual insight from the Holy Spirit with regard
to other peoples’ hidden agendas and motivations. I began to sense facades
people had erected to cover up hurt or feelings of inadequacy. I was learning to
be more sensitive to them, instead of just reacting to their words and walls.

A Strengthened and Steadied Mind
Often silenced by a very dominant, alcoholic father, I began at a very young age
to allow my mind to rewrite difficult situations with sharp put downs and biting
comebacks from me. I began to imagine conversations that would devastate (at
least in my mind) other people who were being mean to me. These words were
meant to exist only inside my mind.
This was a bad practice of mine as I was growing up, rehearsing my hurts and
then getting even in my mind. I would find the words sometimes spilling out of
my mouth when I was under pressure, just as if someone had stepped on a tube of
toothpaste on a hard floor. This did not stop after I became a Christian!
Knowing that I really needed to take my thoughts captive to Jesus, I began to
bind my mind to the mind of Christ. I knew the Word said in Philippians 2:5
(KJV), “Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus,” and in First
Corinthians 2:16, “But we have the mind of Christ.” I hoped that binding my
mind to the mind of Christ would help me either shut up or line up with Second
Corinthians 10:5 (KJV):
“Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the
knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of
Christ.”
It began to work! As I concentrated on binding my mind to the mind of Christ,
the old, wrong patterns of thinking would back off, even if they did not go away.
That came when I learned how to use the loosing key in my prayers.
I realized from that point on that binding my mind to Christ’s mind was a
powerful Key in situations where I did not know what was happening. This was
also a valuable means of dealing with situations where I did not know how to
meet either the revealed or the hidden expectations of others.
I also found I was recognizing truth and getting understanding in many situations
that I simply would not have known in the natural. I knew something incredible
was beginning to happen in my life.

Dealing With Evil Spirits
You will not find any scriptural reference to Jesus or any of His disciples
instructing us to name, speak to, or bind evil spirits. Yet this is what we are
hearing or seeing on Christian television and in many of our church pulpits today.
Jesus and His disciples did not bind evil spirits; instead, they rebuked them as
unclean or foul and commanded them to leave.
If Jesus and His disciples did not name, speak to, or bind evil spirits,
why are so many Christians doing it?
I always feel frustrated when so many come up to me at meetings or e-mail me
that there are people in their lives or involved with their mates or their children or
giving them a hard time in their jobs, and they insist that the offending people are
using witchcraft. The devil certainly can be pressuring some of the bad attitudes,
self-agendas, and temptations involving these other people, but they are people
with damaged souls. These prayers are so helpful when you want to deal
positively with people with damaged souls!
There are better ways to deal with evil spirits. One of the reasons it is so
important to get the toxic waste out your soul is so you will be able to receive
and operate in the gifts of the Spirit (found in 1 Corinthians 12). One of these
gifts is the discerning of spirits. Regardless of your natural abilities, you are not
always able to tell the difference between a manifestation of the Holy Spirit, an
evil spirit, or a very clever human soul. We can all be deceived by things that
seem to be very spiritual when they actually have a very clever human soul or a
demonic spirit behind them.
Natural intellect is all you have going for you if you do not have the spiritual gift
of discerning of spirits operating in your life. Your brain, regardless of what your
IQ is, is just not up to the challenge of discerning soulish and supernatural
manifestations.
This can cause you to blame things on Satan or one of his evil spirits when it
really is your own soul and others’ souls operating in difficult situations. I have
seen people blame (I have done it myself in the past) Satan for a work of the
Holy Spirit when God’s Spirit is actually withstanding them because they are
about to make a terrible mistake. I am sure that God’s grace has kept untold
numbers of Christians from becoming toast in doing this.

Page 39
Evil spirits do exist, working through human souls to accomplish their goals, and
they do have the ability to wreak great havoc in human lives. You can bind them
if you want to, but you will just find yourself continuing to bind spirit after spirit
if the real problem is not dealt with.
Rather than battling the same influences over and over, consider how an evil
spirit attacks a person in the first place. Wrong attitudes, patterns of thinking,
areas of wounding and vulnerability, and wrong beliefs embedded in the soul
provide opportunities for further spiritual harassment. Ephesians 4:26-27
(Amplified):
“When angry, do not sin; do not ever let your wrath (your exasperation, your
fury or indignation) last until the sun goes down. Leave no [such] room or
foothold for the devil [give no opportunity to him].”
By adding the principles of binding and loosing to your prayer life, you will find
yourself better equipped to operate in the gift of discerning of spirits to know if
individual spirits are coming against you or another person. Or, you will know if
an ugly outburst from a devious or an angry human soul is in operation. You will
also begin to recognize unusual works of the Holy Spirit that others might not
recognize. You will be able to hear the Spirit of God speak to you about how to
deal with each situation.
I do not believe Christians can be demon possessed. Their born-again spirits are
connected to the Spirit of our Creator. But I definitely believe that stronghold
thinking that is protecting lies and deception and unforgiveness create
opportunities for evil spirits to torment peoples’ souls and bodies.
The permanent answer to this type of situation is not deliverance. If it was, you
wouldn’t find deliverance services every week or every month in the same
churches. The permanent answer is to stabilize yourself and others with binding
and loosing prayers while loosing the works of the enemy from yourself and
from them. The final blow is to loose (which also means to destroy as in 1 John
3:8) the works of the enemy from them. I am so grateful that the Word assures us
that this is exactly what Jesus came to earth to do: destroy the works of the
enemy.
Here is how you should pray in this situation:
Father, I bind my will to your will. I bind my mind to your mind, Jesus, and I
bind my emotions to your healing balance, Holy Spirit. I loose and destroy
deception, confusion, the effects and influences of wrong agreements, and wrong

patterns of thinking from myself. I want to be able to receive understanding from
you Father so that I can discern what is really behind this situation. I bind the
other people who are involved in this situation to your will and purposes. I loose
the works of the enemy from everyone who is involved. Be glorified in this, Lord.
Thank you, Amen.

Loosing
When the intent of your prayers is to see things on earth brought into alignment
with the Father’s plans in heaven and you are enthusiastically getting rid of the
toxic stuff in your soul at the same time, you will get results every time!
When you speak the word loose in your prayers, you are enacting a powerful
slashing, smashing, and stripping kind of action. When you pray with the loosing
Key, you are enacting:
• Shattering stronghold thinking
• Smashing and slashing deception
• Self-surgery
• Spiritual warfare
In the original Greek manuscripts, the word loose (together with its root words)
means to crush, smash, destroy, dissolve, crack to sunder by separation of the
parts, shatter into minute fragments, disrupt, lacerate, convulse with spasms,
break forth, burst, and tear apart whatever does not belong in your mind, will,
and emotions—or in the souls of those in your prayers.
Praying to loose and shatter stronghold thinking means that you can bring the
supernatural power of these Keys of the Kingdom words against your soul’s
deception and denial. Praying to loose and dissolve deception lodged in your soul
brings supernatural power against the lies your soul has bought into and moved
into—exposing them to the Son. The word picture to remember here is think
about when you have turned over an old board out in a field and all those pale
ugly crawly things freak out when the sun hits them.
Without this powerful prayer Key, it might take months or even years for truth to
break through your soul’s defense mechanisms to dislodge the lies that have been
embraced by your soul. Loosing deception exposes it, allowing you to replace it
with truth. Praying with the loosing Key makes room for truth to move in and
take up residence. Loosing wrong things is not the end of the process—the final
step is the beginning of moving right things into your soul to occupy the space
created by your prayers.
Binding yourself to the truth and loosing the protective stronghold thinking
around all self-deception being harbored in your soul is not pain free. You will be
confronted by many things you have not wanted to accept in your soul such as
attitudes and anger about the consequences of wrong choices you have made.

Page 42
Dealing With Memories That Deceive
I have worked hard at being an over-achiever most of my adult life. Yet I always
struggled with memories of failures and a sense of inadequacy that would rise up
in my face whenever I began to really get somewhere. I would become
overwhelmed with the feeling that everything in my life was about to collapse
around me like a house of cards. So my usual response to this was to make
everything collapse by myself so that I would not be anyone else’s victim.
Since my prayers had never seemed to stop these feelings, I concluded that my
beliefs about the memories must be right. I did not understand that I had erected
such high walls of protection about my soul’s lies about those memories that the
Holy Spirit could not get any truth through to them. Circumstances continued to
come, which I am sure Satan helped to set up, which always triggered the
reinforcing of these wrong beliefs.
As you use the Key of loosing in prayer, bad memories can be stripped of the
garbage and baggage they are so encumbered with. As this happens, those
memories become covered by a stable and fixed trust that God will make them
okay. Psalm 91:1 (Amplified) tells us this:
“He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall remain stable and
fixed under the shadow of the Almighty [Whose power no foe can withstand].”
As you loose and tear down your soul’s defense mechanisms and wrong beliefs,
you will finally be able to stop your soul from keeping old painful memories on
artificial life support. You will be able to let the Holy Spirit neutralize their
power to bring any more pain and shame. Holy amnesia is not the answer. If you
were able to erase or blot out your past, how would you ever know what He had
done for you and where He had brought you out of? How would you ever be able
to tell others of God’s goodness to heal and restore?
Your memories exist. They are permanently imprinted in the cells of your brain.
That’s the way the brain works. But a negative past and its memories only
positive function is to be that part of your life that you have learned from and
overcome. A negative past can become a reference point to show the magnitude
of what God has done for you so you can give others hope that He will do it for
them.
You may have temporarily blocked out certain memories or blocks of time from
your past, but Satan knows every painful thing that ever happened to you. He is
always ready to reactivate the pain of those experiences whenever he gets a
Your Year for Exciting Changes!
By Liberty Savard
Page 43
chance. While it is true memories can be blocked by trauma or severe denial,
they can also suddenly resurface when triggered by certain circumstances.
Bind your mind to the mind of Christ. Then begin to loose the effects and
influences that your bad memories keep tormenting you with again and again.
Loose wrong ideas, wrong beliefs, and any deception associated with your
memories. Repent and loose wrong patterns of thinking that you have had about
anyone who is associated with the memories. As you loose and surrender these
things, you are cooperating with God’s healing power being able to move into
your soul to deactivate those memories and file them in the archives of your soul.
Believing and daily reading of the Word are both important reinforcements to
your Keys of the Kingdom prayers—focusing on believing that God will be there
with the healing and freedom you desperately want. Pray with these Keys for
God’s will to be done in every situation; then fix your face like a flint on God’s
goodness, wisdom, and power towards you—His child.
Father, I bind my will to your will. I bind my mind to your mind, Jesus. I bind my
raggedy emotions to your healing balance and comfort, Holy Spirit. I bind my
feet to the paths you have always ordained for me to walk. I will not add critical
words or judgmental attitudes or requests for revenge to any of the Keys of the
Kingdom prayers that I pray. I want only to pray to see your pure will manifested
here on Earth.
I loose, smash, crush, and destroy my soul’s wrong patterns of thinking, wrong
beliefs, wrong attitudes, the effects and influence of wrong agreements I have
made or that have been made about me, words curses spoken about me and
wrong prayers prayed about me, and the works of the enemy that he would try to
bring against me. Thank you, Jesus, for leaving me these Keys to cause the
Father’s will to be manifested here on Earth.
Pray these prayers, read the Word of God every day, and focus on believing that
God’s promises and the Keys of the Kingdom prayers will do what you believe
they will do to get you closer to God without all of your baggage. Jesus would
not have left these Keys of the Kingdom for you if they weren’t going to work.
Surrendering Your Old Nature
Our old natures have been shaped by what our souls have accumulated and held
onto over our lifetimes—everything ever said about us, taken from us, or done to
us has had a part in this shaping and the wrong behaviors that we have learned to
Your Year for Exciting Changes!
By Liberty Savard
Page 44
use to try to cope with all this stuff. New Christians usually work to try to give up
their wrong behaviors but they don’t have a clue as to how to give up the stuff
that their wrong behaviors are trying to override. Here are some of the wrong
behaviors they focus upon:
• Drinking
• Smoking
• Cursing
• Gambling
• Drugs
• Fornication
There is something to be said for the self-discipline and will power that refuses to
give in to the temptation of using these wrong behaviors. However, when giving
up wrong behaviors has been accomplished only through tongue-biting, teeth-
gritting, sheer will power—what do you do when your will falters?
Anyone’s will can fall into confusion and weakness at one time or another,
depending upon the pressure and stress one may be trying to withstand. No
matter what wrong behavior you have overcome by sheer will power, your soul
and the enemy of your soul are both always looking for a way to pressure or
tempt you into returning to that behavior. This is true because of the temporary
satisfaction and relief that wrong behavior may have provided for you at some
other time.
The old nature continues to generate wrong drives and desires even though the
external behaviors they once produced seem to have been crucified—but
suddenly they surface once again. This is a source of real distress and heartache
for many who long to be free from old ways, yet continue to fight them week
after week, month after month.
This distress can produce even more wrong behaviors that may seem to
temporarily bring relief. This is sort of like taking a pain pill for a needle sticking
in your eye. Any feeling of relief from the pain pill gradually ebbs away, and you
are still left with the needle in your eye!
Consider some of the things involved in the sources of the strongholds that are
built by our souls.

Wrong Attitudes
We have spent our whole lives acquiring various attitudes, some good and some
quite destructive to ourselves and others. The only right attitudes we should seek
to acquire as Christians are attitudes expressed by the nine fruit of the Spirit as
listed in Galatians 5:22 (NIV):
• Love
• Joy
• Peace
• Patience
• Kindness
• Goodness
• Faithfulness
• Gentleness
• Self-control
We can begin to bear these gifts of the Spirit by binding our wills to the will of
God and our minds to the mind of Christ. We should then loose all wrong
thinking and wrong attitudes out of our souls to make room for the fruit of the
Spirit to grow in our souls. Some of the most obvious wrong attitudes include
self-centeredness, unforgiveness, bitterness, negativity, meanness, unforgiveness
and impatience. Begin by loosing all wrong attitudes in general.
Wrong Patterns of Thinking
A pattern is described in some dictionaries as being similar to a mold. Regardless
of what you pour into a strong pattern or mold—liquid gold, molten metal, wet
cement, ice cream, or gelatin—the end result will come out shaped exactly the
same way every time. When a mind set (a rigid pattern of thinking) gets locked
into place because of an association with an emotionally negative experience you
have had, any thoughts coming out of that pattern will have the same emotional
reactions each time.
If you, as a child, were repeatedly told you were stupid, ugly, worthless, or a
failure, you probably developed patterns of wrong thinking about yourself. Those
patterns left in place have the power to mold all future input you receive into a
negative reinforcement of these lies. Your silly soul will accept that such harsh
words, word curses in effect, are true; it will fight any conflicting viewpoint that
others try to share.

Some other wrong patterns of thinking include self-hatred, a sense of personal
worthlessness, self-deception, and self-destructiveness. Any pattern of thinking
that cannot be verified with Christ-like thinking in the Word of God will always
bring defeat. It is difficult for the Holy Spirit to renew and restore a mind filled
with logic, reasoning, rationalization, and defensiveness defending its negative
mindsets and old patterns of thinking.
Things do happen and have happened to everyone that are definitely not right and
not good. Such things are facts and you cannot loose facts—but the wrong
patterns of thinking, wrong behaviors, and the stronghold thinking that were
birthed by those facts can be loosed. You can change those.
You begin with the stabilizing of your mind, will, and emotions through binding
prayers. It is important to always approach using the binding and loosing as a
linked action. Then you begin loosing the old, moldy residue of wrong thinking,
stronghold thinking, and bad attitudes your soul has about your experiences.
Wrong Ideas
Your ideas are birthed out of your thoughts on a given subject. In 2 Corinthians
10:4-5 (KJV), we read this:
“For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the
pulling down of strong holds; casting down imaginations, and every high thing
that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity
every thought to the obedience of Christ.”
The word imaginations, as used here in the King James Version of the Bible,
means thoughts and ideas. When we pray and loose all wrong ideas and wrong
patterns of thinking in our souls, we are shattering, smashing, and dissolving
proud, lofty, and high pretensions that set themselves up to oppose our further
knowledge of God. This is a powerful way to strip these things out of our old
natures to make room to grow in our understanding of God.
Wrong Desires
Webster defines desire as a conscious impulse toward an object or experience
that promises enjoyment or satisfaction when it is attained. Desire can be a right
longing for something good. A wrong desire can be for something that is desired
because of covetousness, for self-gratification, or self-indulgence. Wrong desires

generally come from an inner drive to satisfy an unmet need that has been in your
life for a long time, even from childhood.
You can’t loose an unmet need, but you can loose the wrong desires that come
out of it and the stronghold thinking that defends that wrong desire’s right to
exist. This will help you to cooperate with receiving God’s mercy, grace, and
healing to meet the need.
An unmet need in a soul is a fact, and you cannot loose a fact. But you can
dissolve, melt, and destroy all of the deception, denial, and garbage that have
been layered all over that unmet need. You can loose the stronghold thinking
protecting those layers. You alone can make the choice to do this and expose
your deepest needs to the only One who can ever meet them.
Wrong desires have the potential to escalate into forceful, destructive drives that
aggressively demand fulfillment. Wrong desires bring about the destruction of
marriages and wrong desires bring about wrong marriages. Wrong desires are the
root of much of the grief and sorrow in this world, including pornography,
adultery, stealing, and substance abuse to mention only a few.
Wrong Beliefs
A belief is the mental acceptance of something that appears to be deserving of
trust. Christians’ right beliefs fortify and strengthen their faith which is the
substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. But even a
Christian’s mind, if it has not been stripped of stronghold thinking, can place
great confidence and trust in wrong beliefs, turning them into a distorted
perception of truth.
Loosing wrong beliefs does not mean they will automatically disappear, but they
will no longer be able to hide from you or deceive you. They will be exposed and
you will be able to see them for what they are—then you can choose to reject
them.
Wrong Behaviors and Habits
A behavior is anything an organism or being does involving action and response
to stimulation. A habit is birthed when a behavior is repeated so often that it
becomes involuntary, fixed, even compulsive.

So many Christians want to stop wrong behaviors still in their lives, but they
cannot seem to overcome them. Some want to stop eating improperly, some want
to stop drinking, some want to stop smoking.
One behavior modification technique from the past was to put a strong rubber
band around your wrist and every time you wanted to indulge in the wrong
behavior, you were told to sharply snap the rubber band against your wrist. You
were to do this hard enough that it would really sting. Negative motivation will
never bring about good behavior! It will only modify the bad behavior. Behavior
modification can seem to make the outward behavior disappear. Because the
underlying reason for the behavior will still exist, the behavior will just manifest
itself under a different disorder.
Those who work with behavior modification are sometimes willing to accept a
seemingly less destructive, modified behavior as a trade off for the original one.
This never addresses the source causing the behavior. This is a temporary
solution. The better solution is to uncover the source and cooperate with God in
dealing with it. Binding and loosing prayers make this possible.
Stress, pain, and guilt can each stimulate a response of wrong behavior such as
substance abuse or overindulging in food. Fear of being controlled can stimulate
a response of manipulatively controlling others first. Unmet needs can stimulate
the response of compulsive behavior. Negative responses of anger, cruelty,
sarcasm, and mockery can become habitual form of behavioral responses.
As you loose the wrong thinking that drives you to indulge in wrong behaviors,
bind your reactions to the will of God. He will work with you, and His mercy and
grace will be extended to you and to those around you if you struggle with the
outworking of loosing certain things. But know this: God’s understanding and
mercy will never excuse or cover over these sins and the deliberate stronghold
thinking. They must be destroyed or they will help Satan destroy you.
I usually only bind myself to the known things of God found within His Word—
His will, the mind of Christ, the healing and balancing power of the Holy Spirit
for my emotions, the truth of His Word, His paths that I’ve always been ordained
to walk in, and the work of the Cross in my life. This has never failed to bring
strength and answers.
I do bind myself to God’s timing which has relieved a great deal of stress from
my concern over schedules and time frames. This does not, however, nor do any
of the other binding prayers relieve you of your own responsibilities. I still have
to try to be a good steward of my time. But if I am, and something unexpected

gets all up in my way, I don’t fall apart like I used to anymore. This has saved me
a lot of stress and premature grey hairs and wrinkles that I was getting in airports
when planes were late or cancelled.
Binding myself to all these things puts me
on the front lines of His will and His purposes,
where I leave the details strictly to Him.
I have found that His plans will contain all the excitement and thrills you can
handle once you truly turn over the reins to Him! I just use the Keys of the
Kingdom prayer principles of binding and loosing to align myself His will, and
then I fasten my seat belt for the ride.
After several years of praying this way, I have had exciting opportunities open up
after loosing wrong ideas and beliefs about my future. Many years ago, my
parents kept telling me to forget about being in the ministry and being a writer
and that I should either get married again or get a “real job.” This put some
serious dampness on my possibility thinking! But, through experiences of
binding and loosing and the understanding this opened up for me, I have given all
my possibilities in God the green light.
Over time, I have been privileged to follow people who are still moving in this
understanding since I first began to share it back in 1985 or so. When you are
able to communicate with a certain amount of excitement, it is not that unusual to
find enthusiastic people who show indications of having received what you
shared with them. This is not the true test of a new understanding. The true test of
a new understanding is whether the hearer is still rejoicing, growing, and moving
in the truth several years later. We hear from people all the time who have been
rejoicing and growing in their understanding of using the Keys of the Kingdom
for years.
I hope you will be in contact with Liberty Savard Ministries in the future, telling
us what exciting things and miracles have been coming your way. I also hope
that you will be telling us that you are getting free and you are getting on the road
with God’s will and His purposes and you are loving it!!!!!

READING ASSIGNMENTS Important Point Reinforcements
Searching for the answers in your reading assignments and writing them
here is not to just test your ability to fill in the blanks! When reading about
things that can cause your soul to have to make changes it doesn’t want to make,
it will try to influence you to slide over certain concepts and facts that you have
just read. This section of the Mini Course Manual is to cause you to first read the
assignment, then reread it a second time and locate the important points
requested, and write them down. This forces your soul to spend more time on
actual facts than it usually would.
Completing the assigned reading and then writing down answers to the following
questions increases the likelihood that you will hold onto what you need to
remember. What you remember will help you overcome your soul’s resistance to
God’s intervention in your life and help you keep surrendering to God’s great
plans and purposes for your life.

√ Jesus said, “I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and
whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever
thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven” (Matthew 16:19, KJV).
Christ’s giving of these Keys in the first part of this verse represents the giving of
permission, authority, and ability to enter into the kingdom of heaven to transact
spiritual business. The remainder of the verse tells the believer how to transact
that spiritual business.
Jesus left us Kingdom Keys that show us how to stabilize and steady ourselves as
we loose and release our thoughts of weaknesses, neediness, and pain to Him. As
we pray with these Keys, our souls can be flushed free of anything that the world
or the devil could hook into spiritually or soulishly trap or imprison us with.
