Planning tips for Bolivia:

• Climate: Bolivia is divided into 3 climatic zones: the Altiplano;
the valleys among the spurs of the mountains; and the tropics, or
Yungas Lowlands. From Dec.-Feb. high rainfall in the Salt Flat
region makes travel not recommended. La Paz is situated on the
Altiplano, a high windswept plateau that covers 16% of the
country. Weather can vary, even within one day.

• Language: Spanish.
• Time Zone: 1 hour ahead of US Eastern Standard Time.
• Currency: Boliviano.
• Entry Requirements for US Citizens: A passport and visa are

required as well as documents showing onward travel. We strongly
recommend obtaining your visa prior to departure, though it can
be purchased locally if necessary.
• Immunizations: Yellow Fever immunization is strongly
recommended for travelers to the Amazon basin and may be
required for entry from certain countries.
