Well, that was quick. 2022 was both forgettable and unforgettable. A the beginning of the year we still wore masks. It seems like a distant memory now and hopefully it never returns. We had over 200 days of load shedding in 2022 and the light at the end of tunnel is still off. We South Africans are a resilient bunch and through all of the politics, Ukraine war, global oil,gas and electronic component shortages, we soldiered bravely on and made our contribution as Nomads to those less fortunate. I would like to thank Howard for asking me to take on the PRO work. It is harder than I thought but it is rewarding. I look forward to raising our profile in the coming years and working with all of you to make the lives of those less fortunate a little better. To all the monthly winners, Gary Player winners and Gold Cup winners, very well done. Nomads rewards consistency and you gents led the way. 2023 will be another challenging year on the power front but golf and good cheer will keep our sprits up. All the best Gentlemen, and in the words of Yoda; “May the course be with you!” Rob Falkner DID SOMEONE SAY DECEMBER….. THE AUBERGINE CHRONICLE December 2022—Edition
THE AUBERGINE CHRONICLE 2022…..SOME HIGHLIGHTS
THE CAPTAINS CORNER Captains Corner December 2022 Greetings fellow Nomads, Firstly my thanks to all who participated in our double header at PEGC. The monthly game and the final round for our annual competitions. The weather was threatening to upset our day but thankfully it was intermittent rain and we all completed our round. I had the pleasure of playing with PEGC President, Craig Risseeuw as my partner along with Colin Battle and Kobus Radmeyer who were the victors by 1 shot. Thanks to Dennis Jones for donating the boerewors and rolls. The funds raised were for AMT coffers. Many thanks DJ. Congratulations to all the winners on the day. Well played. Again thanks to all who competed. My thanks to the ladies, namely, Christell, JoAnne and Kelsea for a job well done. We are needing more assistance at the tables and if you know of anyone that would like to assist PLEASE contact Christell. Wishing all those on the sick/injury list a speedy recovery. Gary Sampson, Alan Orchard, Burt Botha & Maree Bester. Please contact Chris Lessing for ALL clothing requirements. New shirts and jackets are available. Sincere congratulation to all those winners during Gold Cup prize giving. You all deserved the recognition. PROSPECTIVE NOMADS A few Nomads have left us for various reasons this year. Page 21 DADDY WAUGHBUCKS—OUR LOCAL SPONSOR’S PAGE Our Sponsors make prizes a reality. Thank you to each and every one of you. As Nomads we should support our sponsors wherever we can. Please continue to do so. If there are any Nomads interested in becoming a sponsor, please chat to me at a monthly game or send me a Whatsapp. We can structure it to suit your needs.

In closing, I would like to welcome all the new Nomads. You have become part of an amazing fraternity of golfers and charitable gentlemen. As you can see from the pages of this edition, there are a myriad of competitions and prizes that can be won. We will be exploring the various competitions every month, so that you can have an understanding of how they work. What is most true about all the advice I ever received is that “You get out what you put in!”. Get involved, participate in the away tours, volunteer for Golforama duty and enjoy the monthly games and meeting fellow Nomads. To the ladies that do the admin, thank you. We simply don’t understand the amount of work that goes into registrations and prize giving. Have a wonderful and prosperous 2023. See you all at Wedgewood…... ALMOST THE END...
