NOVEMBER 2022—Edition

AND THE WIND DID HOWL…. AND THE WIND DID ROAR

Mother nature was being very facetious for the national Chairman’s official visit. The idea was to play the beautiful St Francis
Links on the Saturday to feel what the pros felt like the week before at the SA PGA. 40Km/h plus winds on the day meant we
had an experience that was very different to the pros the week before. Jeff Clause and the team at St Francis Links made
sure we were looked after in the usual 5 star fashion. It is always a treat and a privilege to play one of the very best courses
in the country.
Sunday was the South East challenge between the Eastern Cape and the Southern Cape, at the “Old Course”, St Francis Bay.
The wind had not run out of puff and the calm and experienced heads in the Eastern Cape Nomads got the team over the line.
A big pat on the back for everyone. A great win in those conditions.
Thanks to the boys from the Free State, Border and eSwatini for joining us. You can tell tales of gale force winds and how your
ball did things you never knew were possible. We hope to see you next year.
Our National Chairman had the good fortune of 2 visits in 2 months. Neill, it was a pleasure to meet you and thank you for your
hard work on behalf of all Nomads.

THE CAPTAINS CORNER

Greetings fellow Nomads,

Well well well.. so the wind stayed true, a proper South Easter weekend.
Just as well that the rain stayed away.

It was our National Chairman, Neill Malherbe’s official visit weekend as
well. He was very impressed with the two courses, as he had never
played either of them before. Thanks Neill for the fun and laughter over
the weekend. Memories will last forever.

My thanks to all EC Nomads for supporting the weekend festivities as well
as the visiting Nomads from Southern Cape, Border, Free Sate and Eswa-
tini. We had in the field, fellow captains namely, Peter Leibbrandt from
Southern Cape, Louis Lange from Free Sate and Ian Salt from Eswatini.
Thanks gents it was an honour having you all in St. Francis bay with us.

The Saturday was the game held at St. Francis Links in some rather fresh wind. All had fun and games. Thanks to all concerned at the Links for
your amazing hospitality. We will return again next November.

The monthly game was held at St. Francis Bay in the same testing wind. Once again, the hospitality from all concerned at the golf club was amazing.
Many thanks and you can also rest assured we will be back in March 2023.

Had the pleasure of playing with Peter against Neill and SFB captain Viv Jones, incidentally both left handers and relieving them of some cash.

Congratulations to all the winners on the day. Well played. Again thanks to all who competed.

We had the misfortune of the Samson system service provider’s hubs and as such had to revert to doing to do a manual prize sheet. MY THANKS TO
THE LADIES FOR DOING THIS AS SWIFTLY AS THE COULD. Thanks to the ladies on duty, Christell, Joanne and Kelsa. Much appreciated.

Wishing all those on the sick/injury list a speedy recovery. Gary Sampson, Alan Orchard, Burt Botha.

Please contact Chris Lessing for ALL clothing requirements. New shirts and jackets are available.

The Cheetah Nationals in Bloemfontein next year. We have 20 members going thus far. As I mentioned at prize giving, there will be a shortage of
participants, so if you wish to go, please contact Kobus Delport soonest.
Our next monthly game is on Sunday 4th December 2022 at Port Elizabeth Golf Club.

This being our annual Gold Cup event and prize giving, let us fill the field. Wishing you all well until we meet again next month.

PROSPECTIVE NOMADS

A few Nomads have left us for various reasons this year. However, we have a very healthy pipeline and the following gen-
tlemen are prospective Nomads and will be inducted in December and January. This is the part, like in a wedding where
you get to “Speak now, or forever hold your peace”.
Marc Wallace
Brendan Filander
Gavin Venter
Brea Stephenson

WELCOME TO NOMADS

November saw Rodger Purcell inducted as a Nomad. Welcome Rodger.
Rodger owns an LP gas supply business, so for those of you that use gas at home and for business, you know who to speak
to. I had the pleasure of playing with Rodger and he is a great addition to the Nomads.

DADDY WAUGHBUCKS—OUR LOCAL SPONSOR’S PAGE

Our Sponsors make prizes a reality. Thank you to each and every one of you.
As Nomads we should support our sponsors wherever we can. Please continue to do so.
If there are any Nomads interested in becoming a sponsor, please chat to me at a monthly game or send me a Whatsapp. We
can structure it to suit your needs.

THE BIG GUNS — OUR NATIONAL SPONSOR’S PAGE

Gimme gimme...?
A "gimme" can best be defined as an agreement between two golfers... neither of whom
can putt very well.

ALMOST THE END...

The year 2022 is almost at an end. Global crises, economic turmoil, silicon chip shortages, LIV Golf, and Januz Walus gets
parole . Did I leave out load shedding? What else can they throw at us?

Through all of this we have maintained our Nomadic purpose and now we only have 1 game left before we close for the festive
season.

The Gold Cup and the Gary player knockout finals are the culmination of the season’s competitions. Best of luck to those
Nomads that have qualified. For the rest of us, let’s enjoy the game and wish each other a merry Christmas and prosperous
new year.

See you at the Hill….
