Morning Gents

Sitting on the plane on our way to Botswana for their
Nationals, I cannot stop thinking of just how
privileges I am to represent the Eastern Cape
Nomads at this event. I thank all EC Nomads for this privilege.

Sunday we played Belmont. Apart from a bit of rain, it was a great day for
Golf.

As always we had high points and low points.

The low point again was self-discipline of some of our members. We are
getting to the point where disciplinary actions will be coming in to play.

Gentlemen, we all know that you are welcome to our traditional whisky and
milk before the game but please let's not make it three or five! We are put in
our JVC in a difficult position. He only gets allocated 3 bottles of whisky for
this which should therefore account for 75 tots. With 42 players there is
more than enough for all players? On Sunday, clearly not! If we don't take
other Nomads in to consideration at the whisky table we will have to utilise
a 4th bottle and that can only come out of our raffle prizes. Use it or not.

Congratulations to all our winners.

I am glad we went to Belmont and I really hope John will keep them on our
calendar for 2019/20.

Our next monthly game at the Port Elizabeth Gold Club has had to be
moved to Sunday the 28th October 2018. 7 of our members will be at the
Swaziland Nationals and our percentage of playing Nomads at that
monthly game will be greatly affected by this... It could cause us to lose
allocated spots for the 2020 Nationals (NATEX criteria for allocating
regions with playing numbers) and with members already fighting to go to
the 2019 Nationals with 18 spots, we can't afford to have this allocation
reduced.

I hope to see you all (with your guests) at our next monthly game.

Thanks for your support

Vice Captains News

Good day Fellow Nomads

My last mag report said how I got my silver salvo, and as
it goes I now have got the teddy and have packed away
the alter twice since then.

Now at least the next game hope to do a little better seeing that I'm playing
off a 7. Thanks to my 4-ball for good friends not to say the same about the
golf.

The race day was held on the 27th July 2018, my charity chosen for this year
being Lake Farm Centre. We have raised ± R30 000.00 on the race day.

We are still doing the Joker draw and that is sitting on ± R5800.00 OF which
the winner gets 50% and the balance goes to AMT.

The next big thing in the AMT. fund raising will be the golf day which will be
the 22nd February 2019, so please if you have any prize's or potential
sponsors please assist.

Grahamstown Belmont game has come and gone and will still be on my
calendar for next year, we will arrange a bus.

Thanks to the ladies and Belmont Golf Club for a good day.

My thanks to my AMT committee who if anybody wants to contribute or
donate can contact.

JVC News

Good day Fellow Nomads,

What a course to play, especially in those cold conditions.
I think some of you had a lot of fun and some of us, not so
much. I think The Belmont get a secondary income, by selling second
hand balls, with all the balls we all lost. I would like to play there again, even
if it to look for the balls I lost there.

I think there hosting of us Nomads for the first time, was pretty awesome.
Even better than some of the clubs we have played at.

To my four ball, Greg C, David (Roy) and Stuart M, thanks for an enjoyable
day. Some good and bad golf in the conditions that we played in. Stuart
you should have brought out the “OBIES” earlier in the round as that was
when Greg and I only started to score some points.

Thanks to Cobus van Biljon and John Nell for setting up the Alter for me
and to Tyrell, Jason, Hughy, John and Neale for being the Alter bunnies for
the day.

Guys, there are some you who complain about prize giving starting late.
This will always be the case if some of you don't follow the simple rules.
Please, prize giving can and will start earlier if you as members can do your
part. Hand in your correctly completed score cards in on time as you finish
the round. Not after you have had a few drinks with your fourball and then
decide to shower and then only hand in your cards. This delays the Ladies
in finalising everything. The funny thing is that some of you who complain
are guilty of this. I request, that you as members, chase on members, if you
see that a four ball or member has his score card with him having a drink at
a table or in the change room. Every month we have someone delaying the
process.

Congratulations to all the lucky winners. Thanks to Jeanne, Christell and
Bev for your time and hard work that you both put in for us, as usual on the
day
