Find out how we made a
difference!
Fashion
Look out for the latest
trends in school!
“Being a PDI student, having
many projects due is one of the
main reasons why stress is
always just around the corner.
Stressful encounters happen
when I have such a short time to
produce what is needed for my
project. How I handle with my
stress is to go to the gym or do a
simple workout at home to take
my mind off things. After a good
workout I will be able to
concentrate better!”

Design & Innovation Find out how Tyas Aviandy
handles his stress!
“I went for CIP during the
Freshmen orientation CIP???
program. We went
around east coast park Brendan Loi with his CIP group
picking up litter off the
beach areas. It was tiring
because we had to walk
a lot under the hot sun,
but I enjoyed myself
throughout, got to bond
with my team during the
event. CIP can sound
boring, or a troublesome
thing to do, but all in all,
it is for the greater good
and if everyone can
contribute even a little, it
will go a long way!”
HOW TO KEEP FIT!?!?
“I do Tabata, an interval workout
that consists doing one exercise
for 20 seconds, then resting for 10
seconds. The whole process is
repeated for four minutes. My
Exercises are high intensity, like
running on a treadmill at high
speed, squats and leg lifts. I will
do at least three different sets of
exercises in my workout which
lasts about 15 minutes.”
Find out the secrets as to “I take home-cooked food to
how Hazel keeps herself school such as fish, chicken or
looking good and feel prawns which are high in protein. I
good!! have “cheat” days on Sundays
when I indulge in cakes. I also
snack on Weet-Bix, which are
small cereal bars. I don’t take
carbonated drinks”

Social media
In this modern time and age, social media is being used all around the globe by
people of different ages. You can hardly find anyone who is not aware of what
social media is. With the constant growth of the technology industry, who is to say
that there would not be any new social media tools coming out soon…
Influence of social media
1. Types of social media?
Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, Instagram, Blogs,
Foursquare
2. Why do people use social 3. Why are more and more businesses using social
media? media?
Social media is mainly used by people Social media allows businesses to connect to their

with their family members, relatives, build a better relationship. This will allow them to
friends or even to meet and get to have a better understand of the needs and wants of
know new people. It makes it easier their potential customers. Also, it is one of the

users will be updated in an instant.
4. Advantages and disadvantages of using social media?
Generally, social medias are capable of generating a lot of positivity if used correctly.
They are able to give someone or an organisation a reputable image not just online, but in
reality as well. The capability of expanding one’s list of contacts is also a major plus
point of using social media.
On the contrary, if abused, social media can also ruin one’s reputation. Misusing of social
media through cyber bullying is a real cause of concern and it has been going on for
years. For businesses, a mistake or an incident might also damage their image as it might
be spread around. Also, there is always the probability of your account being hacked.

~MIXED PATTERNS~
~IN NP~Angeline, 19, Year 3, FSV
I really love to dress in
prints because I love
colours and patterns. It
also represents me as a
person and brings out
my personality.
Chester, 18, Year 2, MOT
Prints are bold yet
subtle at the same
time. I feel that
pairing it with a
simple solid coloured
bottom and sneakers
would be the perfect
outfit for school.
Dressing in florals makes me
feel more feminine. There’s also
this edginess about florals as
not everyone would be able to
pull off the look.
Agustine, 18, Year 2, BS
“The signature look may be mixed patterns,
flowing dresses and floppy hats, but every
generation brings its own attitude to it”

HLFM: Hotel & Leisure Facilities
Management
Unique Module: It would be PCB
(Psychology & Consumer Behaviour). In
the midst of all the technical modules,
we have a psychology module which is
different. The lecturers also use fun
ways to teach this module and instead
of just sitting down in class, we have
table top exercises dealing with
situations unlike other modules. There Azrie, 19, Year 3
is also room for flexibility & creativity.
Interesting class activity: The
most interesting class activity
would be housekeeping (EHK) as
we actually get to share a loft of
our own as a class and we were
instructed to learn about the
steps in bed making, cleaning
the bathroom etc. It’s like a
Vivian Ong, 18, Year 2 hands on experience for us with
the use of the loft.
Favourite lecturer: My favourite Brenda Law, 18, Year 2
lecturer is Mr Josh Ng who
taught me STF(Structure &
Fabric). This is because he
always jokes with us making
the lesson fun & interesting! He
is also a very good lecturer.
REB: Real Estate Business
Unique Module: Syahmi, 18, Year 2
Environmental Health
Management. This module
teaches me things that I would
never expect to learn from
this course. It also teaches us
things that are very important
which people tend to
overlook.
Michael, 19, Year 3 Interesting class activity: It
would probably be ELS
(Electrical Systems) because
we learn how to do circuit
wirings which we can also
apply to our daily lives. For
example if a short circuit were
to happen in our house, we
would know which switch to
switch on/off to solve the
problem.
Favourite lecturer: My advisor, Yovie, 19, Year 2
Mrs Lee Li-Jong as she is not only
able to deliver her lectures very
well but she shares her stories
with us too! From there we can
also learn to be a better person.
Generally, she is a kind,
responsible, fun and very
understanding lecturer.
PDI: Product Design and
Innovation
Unique Module: It would be
DSCD where I can get hands on to
make models of my products.
Lecturers like Geoffrey and
Terrence makes the module
livelier and more enjoyable.
Jaeme, 19, Year 3
Interesting class activity: The Nizam, 18, Year 2
most interesting class activity
would have to be the
conversations with the lecturers.
Talking to them as though they
were your friends makes the
whole learning experience much
more enjoyable.
Wen Rong, 18, Year 2 Favourite lecturer: Geoffrey-My
VTDS & DSCD teacher. I would
say that he is a very slack lecturer
but he also gets his job done.
He’s lenient and has a cool
personality. When it comes to
student’s work, he is very very
helpful and he’s also able to
interact well with us as our age
gap isn’t very huge. I think he’s
the best lecturer so far.
SDE: Sustainable Urban
Design & Engineering
Unique module: Sustainable
Building Design. It teaches us
design concepts on how to
incorporate green features such
as green roof and vertical
greenery into a building.
Ryan Er, 19, Year 3
Interesting class activity: We have Johnray, 19, Year 3
to design furnitures and lighting and
place them in a manner where it
can help with our concept. To do
this, we visit suppliers to help us
understand better material
selection for our design. Our final
product would be displayed in Tiong
Bahru. Though people might critic
our work but it gives us pressure to
do a better job so that it would be
more presentable
Favourite lecturer: Aaron Chua. He
is a very fun and engaging lecturer.
One interesting thing about him is
that he does not teach directly
from the textbook. Moreover, he
also brings us out to eat and have
fun.
Brendan, 18, Year 2
SO I WON’T EVER HAVE TO
TAKE ANOTHER “BEFORE”
PICTURE
Say NO to DIETS!
Diets leave you lacking healthy nutrients which are
essential for you. Here are the real secrets to
eating healthier…without feeling grouchy or
deprived!
EAT SMALLER
PORTIONS
Make each meal between
200 and 500 calories. It
can help fire up your fat-
burning furnace. Avoid
excessive portions with
large meals.
AVOID EATING AT
NIGHT
Try to have your dinner
earlier. After-dinner
snacks tend to be high in
fat and calories so are
best avoided, anyway.
EAT MORE HEALTHY
CARBS
Like whole grains, beans,
fruits and vegetables.
Healthy carbs are digested
slowly, helping you feel
full longer and keeping
blood sugar and insulin
levels stable.
