2011 HARMONY DAY

In Salman Rushdie’s 1981
book Midnight’s Children he
explores what he calls the
internationalism of his heart.
I think this is a beautiful
description for our CBC
community.

CBC resonates with an internationalism of heart,
mind and culture. Our Vision Statement celebrates
the respectful welcome we give to one another. Our
students originate from 77 different countries around
the globe and bless us with a diversity of thoughts,
experiences, foods and cultures.

On Monday, the College celebrated our
internationalism and cultural diversity by celebrating
Harmony Day with prayer, a BBQ, the flying of flags,
music, and a range of other activities. According to
the Harmony Day website, the theme for 2011 was:

Everyone Belongs, which means all Australians
are a welcome part of our country, regardless of their
background. It’s a time to reflect on where Australia
has come from, recognising the traditional owners of
this land. It’s also about community participation,
inclusiveness and respect – celebrating the different
cultures that make Australia a great place to live.

All Year 11 students commenced Christian Service
