Dear Parent or Carer,

A belated, but warm and heartfelt, welcome back to our new and existing

We Need You!

The Friends of Claremont School (FOCS) are looking for more committee members
to help raise money for the school. Our principal aim is to support school events
such as Bonfire Night, the Christmas Bazaar and helping in the Uniform Shop.

Last term, over £4000 in funding requests were distributed throughout the school
which included, a Projector for the Senior School, a Touring Theatre preform-
ing The Nutcracker at the school, funding more animals for the Science and Zoology
Club, new books for the library and a new Learning Support system. In the past we
have funded the Adventure Play Ground and the Peace Park.

Joining the committee does not mean you have to give all your spare time and you
can give as much or as little as you want. It would be great if we had someone with
a marketing backgrounds to give some spare time in a creative way.

Being part of FOCS also involves making the important decisions on where our money
is spent.

If anyone is interested, please contact me.

Ducklings &

Butterflies

Welcome back to all of the Ducklings and Butterflies we hope you all had a lovely summer!

Both the Ducklings and Butterflies have really enjoyed going for Autumn walks through the Forest School
where they found objects to make their Autumn mobiles and saying Hello to our wooden animals.

On Tuesday the Babies went for a bug hunt with Zeta into the Jubilee garden where we found lots of wig-
gly worms and bugs which was great fun.

Towards the end of the week all of the children enjoyed lots of messy activities using paint, glue and sand.

A big welcome to our friend Imogen who has started in Ducklings.

Robins

This week we went on a bug hunt in the Jubilee Garden, we were fascinated with finding worms and slugs
under the logs. When we came back to nursery we found more bugs under our flower pots. We have also
started making spiders for our bug display board. The colour in Robins this week is green and we have
produced some fantastic work to display on our window display.

Hedgehogs

This week we are welcoming the new children into Hedgehogs. We have been playing lots of group games
and getting to know each other. The new children have been exploring the classroom and making lots of
new friends. We have also been focusing on British values. We have been learning why it is important to
share and take turns with our friends, especially as we have new toys in the classroom. We have also
practised saying 'please' and 'thank you' to our friends at Nursery because it is important to use our
manners.

Badgers & Foxes

This week, the Badgers class have been learning
about shapes. We decided to go on a shape walk,
hunting the grounds for shapes in our environment
and we were very successful .We then decided to
paint with different shapes, creating a colourful
painting. In addition to this, we have been getting
wet, jumping in puddles and also been developing our
counting skills using the parachute.

This week in Foxes we had fun planting our winter
vegetables in the Jubilee garden. We also had lots
of fun sticking pom-poms to make our Hungry Cat-
erpillar counting board. We enjoyed making bubble
paintings, using straws to blows paint on to card,
making lots of different patterns. We also wel-
comed Archie to the Foxes class.

Squirrels

Welcome to the Squirrels classroom!

This week we have been settling into our new classroom with our friends. We’ve been exploring the
new toys together and playing number games on the interactive whiteboard. We’ve been busy painting
leaves for our new display board using autumnal colours and we’ve started to learn our numbers 1-10.
Everyone has settled in really well this week. Well done, Squirrels. have been concentrating on turn
taking and sharing. We’ve got some new toys in the classroom such as dolls’ world and dolls’ world ac-
cessories. The children have been taking it in turns to take care of the babies. We’ve been looking at
colours and playing colours bingo. We had the musical instrument box out at the beginning of the week
and played along to different nursery rhymes together and learned to clap the beats in the songs.
