Tess Rowland, Anna Bourne, Olivia Cox and Emma Patel and Amelia
Barrett played in the Ron Easton Tournament in Eastbourne this
weekend for the South Saxons Hockey Club U12s. They made the
finals (ultimately finishing 4th) and they all deserve a big pat on

Sunday morning!

Last week, Claremont Senior and Prep School welcomed Precision Sports (https://www.precisionsports.tech). The Preci-
sion team spent the day at both of the Claremont sites working with senior and prep school students. The aim of Precision
Sports is to track individual players during sport: the pods collect a variety of different variables from training sessions or
matches. The Precision team collected data from a session with the Football Academy, a selection of senior school ath-
letes and a Prep School hockey team. The data that collected indicated to us the workload an athlete completes within a
sporting fixture. This data allows the school to monitor, for example, how many sprints and how much distance these indi-
viduals covered within a twenty-minute school fixture, in addition to
this, it also allowed us to monitor top sprinting speeds. This com-
bined with the additional training sessions at school with one’s clubs
and weekend fixtures can mount up to be a considerable amount of
exercise.
The pods called PrecisionWEAR, indicated to us that too much isn’t
always a good thing as it can lead to injury in the long term or allows
us to predict if injury is on the way. PrecisionWEAR also helps to
inform us on when to allow individuals to rest or to not participate
in the intense elements of a session. The table below contains the
basic measures of the sessions combined at the Prep and Senior
school; the table contains the simple measures that is provided with
this software. PrecisionWEAR also goes into more detail with re-
gards to looking at acceleration and deceleration, impacts, right left
leg loading and running gait (how the body moves). The school has
been offered a deal for any athletes that wish to purchase the prod-
uct for £170.00 one-off cost and £50.00 per year to have access to
the AI which will give you an explanation of the data collected. The
software allows the school’s coaches to link in as well. The Precision
Sports pod is currently sold at £250 plus the software cost. We will
continue selling the PrecisionWEAR pods over the year but after this offer is end the price will be £200 plus the soft-
ware. All orders need to be placed and paid for before 1st December 2017, this will allow us to get delivery before the
holidays. If you would like to place an order or want any more information, please do not hesitate to contact me
([email protected]).
PrecisionWEAR offer is also open to parents that play sport or train for fitness as it will allow you to have a sport scientist
in your pocket.
Junior Knole Run
Last Friday saw one of the biggest U13 Cross Country events take place at Sevenoaks Senior School around
the very scenic but extremely tough Knole Park. With a very small start line and a narrow straight into the
first corner, getting a good start and being amongst the front runners was key in this race! There were 280
in the girls race and 302 in the boys race! Along with 61 schools from across Kent, Sussex, Surrey, London
and even some schools as far as Hampshire and Suffolk take part. There were some outstanding performanc-
es on the day and each runner had their own targets going into the race. In the boys race our Cross Country
captain Elliot W came in a brilliant 81st, Artem S was closely followed in 84th and Ellison V-R who is a year
younger came 88th. The U13 girls race Tarran B-D came in 195th, with Madeleine R slightly ahead in 190th
position. However, once again, the performance of the day was from Eleanor S in Year 7 who finished a stag-
gering 7th place. Well done to all our runners who again competed with great determination. We look forward
entering a more events in the new year.
Years 4, 5, 6 Swimming Gala v Vinehall
Our youngest swimmers went over to Vinehall for a training
gala last week and got some good practice in. For a couple
of our swimmers they were involved in their very first gala.
With a lot of the races shared out amongst the swimmers
it gave those that haven't done too much swimming in the
past a try out at different strokes. Some of the races
were very close and the Year 5 girls won their Medley Re-
lay. Well done to all our swimmers who tried extremely
hard.
Mathletics
Last week all of the pupils in Year 5 and 6 took part in the Primary School Mathematics Challenge.
This is a national competition with many challenging multiple choice questions. The final page offers the
opportunity for the pupils to really apply their problem solving skills.

U11A’s v Battle Abbey:
The U11A’s continue to impress me every week. They have grown into a hard working cohesive team
who produce some fabulous hockey.
Claremont had a comfortable 3-0 lead at half time and continued to dominate play in the second half.
They attacked with pace and showed good decision-making and fully deserved the 9-0 win. Goal-
scorers were Emma P (4), Lizzie S (2), Amelia McC (2) and Amelia B (1).
Player of the Match this week was Emma Patel.
Another good win, well played girls!
U11B Hockey
The U11 B hockey team had another great fixture this week against the Sacred Heart School. It was
a very closely contested game in the first half with 2-2 the half time score. Claremont put their skills
to the test in the second half and were dominant in attack, winning the match 6-3. The team should
be commended on their excellent team spirit and improved tactical awareness. A special mention must
go to Fife, our player of the match, who scored her second hat-trick of the season!
U8 Netball v St Andrews
A great 6-1 win this week for the Y3 girls with goals
from Amarissa, Ella (3), Ava and Olive
POMs Olive (pictured) voted by St A and Maggie vot-
ed by Miss H.

3 cheers!

U9B vs St Andrew
Claremont 8-7 St Andrews
An exciting end to the game with lots of goals
scored, good accurate passing and great inter-
ceptions. The girls worked well as a team. Well
played, everyone. Miss Compton.
U10’s Rugby
Claremont 9 - 4 Vinehall
Our U10's played their first game of the season last week and ran out 9 tries to 4 winners. It was an ex-
cellent team performance. Tries were shared out between Harvey W - 3, Max W - 2, Orlando S - 2, Ar-
thur F, William B. Our rucking was excellent, winning every ball that was placed to ground. Tackling was
very good throughout. It was a great start to the season and thoroughly enjoyable to watch. Max W was
Man of the Match.
Claremont 4 - 1 Ashford Prep
This week saw us host a triangular with Ashford Prep and Marlborough House. The afternoon was con-
tested really well by all schools. Again the rucking and tackling was excellent once again. Orlando got him-
self 3 tries to take himself 5 for the season. Harvey W also ran over for the other try. We used the ball
well at the breakdown and managed to find space through some intelligent running. Man of the Match -
Orlando S.
Claremont 0 - 1 Marlborough House
Our second game was against a very strong tackling Marlborough House side. They scored a really worked
try down the wing. However for all our efforts and dominance on the ball we couldn't quite break them
down. We were close on several occasions and were very unfortunate to not to score a try. The team once
again played really well and our tackling and ripping off the ball from Max, Teddy B, Will B was excellent
throughout. Well done to all the boys who played.

This week in Foxes we have started to become very festive! You may have noticed lots of glitter
everywhere! On Monday this week our lovely foxes decided to create their beanstalk paintings
into a wonderful calendar for the new year. We got covered in paint and sparkles! Tuesday we
started to think of ideas for our Christmas decorations and spoke about what we put on top of
our Christmas tree. We came up with some great ideas! But we do not want to ruin the surprise
for our gifts to be given out shortly. We also had a fantastic French lesson with Mrs Brownbill.
We learnt how to say lots of Winter Wonderland words in French. Then on Wednesday we got to
sparkle glitter everywhere as we helped Miss Greenfields turn our classroom into an amazing
Winter wonderland. Thursday we were very busy little foxes getting ready for our nativity per-
formance in music which is on 5th December 2017, so not long now! Friday we explored the woods
with Miss Flanigan on the search for cheeky elves and fairies. In the afternoon we got to dance
to Christmas songs making sure we used our listening skills for when to freeze like a snowman.
This week the Badgers have been up to a wide range of things, we have been getting
ready for Christmas and have been busy rehearsing for our Christmas production
(Monday 4th December 2017) so we have been singing our hearts out! We have also
been on the most fantastic winter walks, which then turned very muddy. During this
time we played many group games which promoted our counting and listening. The
most exciting part however, was when we discovered a rugby ball, which we decided
was a dragon’s egg! This prompted lots of throwing and catching as well as running.
In addition to this, we have found time to cover shape and measure, by using meas-
uring tapes to see how long we are and other objects in the classroom as well as Ra-
chel.
This week the Hedgehogs have been using their senses. We have been using our
ears for listening to the noises around us, our hands for touching and feeling when
we played with the sensory feely box. Some of the Hedgehogs had a try at fruit
tasting ,where we talked about which of the fruits we liked and disliked. We are
practicing everyday now for our Christmas Sing-a-long ,which we hope you will come
and watch.
This week in Robins we have been making some fantastic pictures for our
winter display using the salad mixer. The children loved turning the handle
and watching it go round and round this made some wonderful effects. We
have also started Christmas craft activities which we won't give away too
much as we don't want to ruin the surprise at Christmas time!.
This week the Ducklings have enjoyed making shapes out of
playdough using the cutters and rolling pins, chalking using the
large chalks and singing time where the babies joined in with
some action rhymes!
This week we celebrated
Joe's birthday and he
brought a cake in to
share with his friends.
We have looked at stories
and how they are
structured and tried
making up our own
stories. Also this week we
looked at the story 'The
Snowflake' and made our
own snowflakes using gold
and silver paint.
