EDITOR’S NOTE

Ever wondered how life would be like if Eve
and Adam didn’t partake of that fruit. Imagine
not stressing about what to wear, colour co-
ordination, fashion trends and joining a gym.
Imagine walking around naked and it looked
normal.

Anyway let me state a few things that I believe
would be happening if they decided to ONLY
eat what they were supposed to eat. There
won’t be death, no pain of any kind including
child birth pain, everyone will be a vegetarian
including
animals, animals will be talking and mostly
walking, there will be unbreakable union be-
tween husband and wife, no gossip and back
stabbing , no
skolodo, no hunger, no cancer, no political
feuds, no witches and the list is endless. Kod-
wa ke
asisekho lapho. Akusancedi. Moving on.

What do I think about technological advance-
ment? Would there have been the need for
phones, planes, cars, boats and computers.
The answer is “ABSOLUTELY YES”. We would be
living in unity and in total trust and with that
we would achieve more and faster. Human
beings would still have the earth as its abode
so there would have been the need for travel
across land and seas!

What about the devil? I have two theories.
Firstly, I think Satan would have been sent out
of the garden and secondly I think if Adam
and Eve said no to the devil, he would have
continued to try his luck, over and over again.
There would have to resist not eating the fruit
In forever.

I Have one last crazy question that I’m not
going to answer. What if Eve ate the fruit and
Adam refused to eat ?

born at Mpilo hospital in Bulawayo. I completed my High school at Manama high and then pro-
ceeded to Midlands state University were I did my Applied Biosciences and Biotechnology Hon-
ors degree. I was attached at Delta beverages as a laboratory technician in the Sparkling Bever-
ages department. During my last year at Varsity, I did a project on watermelon juice production.
It was the most challenging project I had ever done but I managed to get a 2.1. There was no
doubt I was ready to face the world’s challenges. I was fully equipped. I graduated in December
2017 with a second upper class honors degree.
In January 2018 I started working at Lobels Biscuits and sweets as a quality controller cum produc-
tion supervisor. In October 2018 economic problems in the country started to worsen and my future
at work looked hazy so I thought of something to land on once dying and selling products wasn’t an
option. I have a male best friend of which people were always questioning our friendship. One day
during my lunch time at work, an ex-schoolmate also questioned our friendship and that got me
thinking and an idea was birthed in my heart. I thought of giving people something to read about. I
held my Samsung J1 and started jotting down ideas of what I was going to talk about and how the
book would look like. I wanted to create a story around the rumor that everyone believed was true.

MUSICCORNER

Martin Sibanda is a dynamic musician who hails from Tjidiwe, Ndolwane in Plumtree. He is one of the
pioneers of Rhumba music. Rhumba music has a distinct sound and it is a part of our heritage and identity
as a people from the Southern region of Zimbabwe. Rhumba is known for having a fast beat, a good blend of
instruments, story -telling lyrics and entertaining dance moves. The genre has helped restore cultural identity
and reminded a lot of people of their roots.
The church and school choir played a vital role in his career as that is where he discovered his love and pas-
sion for music. In the year 1995 “The Big Boss” became the lead singer of renowned Rhumba group Ndol-

wane Super Sounds. In 2012 he released an album entitled “Bakhuzeni”
that was later followed by “Konke Sizok, lungisa” in 2017. The title
track encouraged communities and the society to work together in
fixing problems. Martin uses music to convey messages and take a
stand against social ills. Fans can look forward to a third album that
is dropping soon.
Even though Covid-19 put a dent in the entertainment industry,
“The Big Boss” took this as an opportunity to interact with
fans on social media platforms. On Women’s Day, he is
one of the musicians that took time to address Women’s
Rights issues and GBV on Ezakithi TV. “As Martin
and Ndolwane Super Sounds, we are helping under
privileged children and ensuring they finish their
education. Currently we have four in our books.”
In a bid to open the industry and create jobs,
Martin has launched a clothing label and com-
pany called DELS that supplies t-shirts, shirts,
jackets and lots more. On the 10th of October
2020, a birthday celebration will take place
at Hillbrow Theatre and this celebration will
showcase upcoming artists as well.
Martin and Ndolwane Super Sounds have
set their sights on the international market
as their music has had a good reception
on the international stage. He aims to tour
Africa at large and overseas.
Since we are aiming to go international, we
have decided to incorporate people from
other nationalities like South Africans to
our management team. In the same vein,
we are also going to be expanding beyond
Rhumba music.

The BYO STORY - 17-September 2020

Dj of theWho is Dj Mauzah?
Dj Mauzah is an artist, producer and a Dj
whose real name is Unity Moyo.
When did you discover your love and passion

Month formusic?
Around 1988 when I was in break dancing
competitions. At that very moment I knew
the entertainment industry was my calling.

What challenges have you faced on your jour-
ney?
There have been so many challenges ranging
from members of Achuzi migrating in search for greener pastures yet I had to keep the group
going. Then as a solo act breaking into the South African entertainment industry was one the
biggest hurdles.

Take us back to Bulawayo. What is your fondest memory?
My fondest memory is when we performed on Teen Scene. It was first time on National TV in
1998 and it felt good to put Bulawayo on the map. Playing soccer at Gifford High School is also
one of my fondest memories.

In an ever changing industry, how have you managed to remain consistent?
Always believing and staying true to myself and coping other people’s style of production.

A little bird tells me you have a clothing label!
The clothing label came after I released a track entitled “Phezu KweGqom” and printed branded
t-shirts to promote the track and for brand identity. From that demand, I decided to launch a
clothing label.

What can people expect from you
this year?
l will be releasing a new single
and expect more mixes. We are
still promoting the track enti-
tled “Intwe Mnandi” and I urge
people to take part in the dance
challenge. You will see me at wed-
dings and year end functions.

Facing dilemma, By her side is where I belong.
You are probably good for nothing. Athena has her ways,
Just let me know what’s best, To grow I need her close.
Just give me the truth with facts. Toxic you both are,
You said you will always stand with me. But one will have to win.
Has your support changed routes due to my dreams? Having a happy ending is all I want.
School or you? I am sick and tired of devastation.
That’s the choice I can never make. I can’t control my emotions,
I promised you forever and always, My heart is just divided into many sections.
But now my love for you has turned into a battle. My body is craving to be loved,
My heart I gave to you, At the same time, I crave success.
Yet my education I put first. Alas, help!
But wait! I don’t want to end up a harlot,
To some extent will you matter? Neither do I want to be a spinster.
You just make my life fantabulous, My body and my soul want it all,
But you got no future, So, what’s the best option?
No dreams, Cupid and Athena,
No goals. Will this be eternal.
All you have is dirty love. Was this your intentions?
You give pleasure but along with it comes pain. My sanity is in question.
What’s your use? Love or school?
Back to you nut headed books. Two against one,
You make my life feel like hell. What a temptation.
Got me going crazy like a bunkum. Will you turn into an obsession?
Is it all about the work? Knowledge versus love.
Are you even worth being a choice? Which will be my selection?
Now it got to change, Racho
The headaches should stop, Blackrose
Cravings must become a thing of the past.
So, what’s left is a bag of you and love.
Who do I offer my sacrificial heart to?
Why?
Ambivalence, who do I contemplate about,
My thoughts go in corresponding circles.
