BYO TRENDS Jesimine Moyo is making moves in
the entertainment industry and in
her community she grew up in.

Choreographer Martha Graham
once said ‘I feel that the essence of
dance is the expression of man-the
landscape of his soul. I hope that
every dance that I do reveals
something of myself or some
wonderful thing a human can be’
.This could not resonate more with
Jesimine Moyo, a singer, dancer,
drummer, and actor. Since her
tender age she has been expressing
herself through movement, not
only has it helped her define her
own path but it has also allowed
her to influence others.

Growing up in Nguboyenja
Jesimine was first introduced to
arts in 2016 when she was part of a
group called Ingwenyama which is
now based in Victoria falls, she had
to move to Harare a year later to
pursue her career as her family was
against her doing arts. She joined
Mambokadzi and one of her
directors had to talk to her family
for them to fully give her the
blessings to do her craft.

Later on she moved to the United
Kingdom.

06 June 2020 issue

It was her determination that led her
to receive one of the most prestigious
awards for strictly come dance for
Africa in 2016, which led to her t0
perform a set in Mama Africa and also
Afro beats and many different events
where she usually performs with South
African Zulu dancers and Bulawayo
dancers and also Busi Mhlanga .
Being on stage is her home as she
enjoys it and it’s her happy place
singing and dancing comes natural to
her.

During her busy schedule she has time to teach kids at Nguboyenja called Inkayezi ‘The shining
star ‘ and it’s mostly made up of primary school kids
The project is being run by her brother Mangoma.

“MAKE SURE YOU SEE THE GOOD IN PEOPLE “

Jesimine inspiration comes from her sister Rea Moyo and her brother Othnell Mangoma Moyo. She is a
big dreamer and go getter who believes that you can be anything you want in life as long as you keep
learning and being wiser .One of her dream is to do some work with Sean Paul and Angelique Kidjo.

One of the saddest part of being a parent is to live far from you child , as many people face such
situations , she is lucky that her mother is there to take care of her son and they always talk throughout
the day on the phone.

The world came to a standstill and every sector was affected all the shows were cancelled, most artist
are resorting to online performances in order for them to survive.
