The Lewes Polar Bear Plunge Weekend Festival started several years ago when Bears began trekking
down to the beach ss early as Friday night or Saturday morning, looking for things to do.

The Plunge Weekend Festival offers several fun and family-friendly activities, and has turned
into an annual tradition for many. Activities include:

The in-person Run to the Plunge is Saturday, February 5th at 10:00 a.m. in Rehoboth Beach
OR you can take a virtual run anywhere between January 22 - February 5.

Bring your appetite and your vote to the Plunge Festival Restaurant Chili Contest on Saturday
from 2:30 - 5:00 p.m.

Parking

The Polar Bear Plunge “HUB” is at
the end of Rehoboth Avenue near the
Bandstand.

Going north or south, take the Re-
hoboth Avenue exit off of Route 1
(located just north of Dewey Beach
and south of Lewes) and head toward
the ocean. You’ll see our setup before
you reach the boardwalk.

Where should you park?

Parking is on your own, unless of
course you stay at one of the several
offering great deals (and free parking)
to our Polar Bears.

How early should you arrive?

The crowd will be similar to a summer holiday weekend at the beach, and in fact, some claim
even bigger. So if you are arriving Sunday morning, our only advice is to come early, be patient
looking for a spot, and don’t park in any spaces that are marked “permit only,” “handicap,” or
any other way forbidding parking. Even though it’s not beach season, tickets will still be issued
if you park illegally.
