SLEEPING BEAUTY

ADAPTATION VERSION (BY GRIMM'S BROTHER)

Keywords: FAIRY TALE

Once upon a time, there was a King and Queen who really wanted a child. They wished for one every day, but they didn 't have any. One day, while the Queen was taking a bath, a frog appeared and told her that she would have a daughter within a year. "Your wish will be granted; you will give birth to a daughter within a year." The frog ' s prediction came true, and the Queen gave birth to a beautiful baby girl. The King was so happy that he threw a big party for the baby. He invited his family, friends, and even some wise women to the party so they could give the baby good gifts. There were thirteen wise women in the kingdom, but the King only had twelve golden plates for them to eat from. So, one of the wise women was left out. However, the party was still very nice. The wise women gave the baby girl lots of good gifts, such as beauty, virtue, and riches. But, the thirteenth wise woman, who was not invited, came to the party anyway. She was very angry and said that when the girl turned fifteen, she would prick herself with a spindle and die. Then, she left without saying anything else.

Everyone was scared when the twelfth fairy spoke because she had not given her gift yet. Although she couldn 't change the bad prediction, she made it less severe by saying, "The Princess will not die, but will sleep deeply for a hundred years." The King wanted to save his daughter from this misfortune, so he ordered that all the spindles in his kingdom be burned. The girl grew up, and the wise woman gave her many gifts. She was so pretty, kind, clever, and nice everyone who saw her liked her. One day, when she was fifteen years old, the King and Queen went out, leaving the girl alone in the castle. She wandered around all the rooms and halls until she came to an old tower. She climbed the narrow stairs and found a little room with a rusty key in the lock. She turned the key and opened the door to find an old woman spinning flax. One day, the Princess came across an old woman spinning in an old tower. Curious, she asked the woman what she was doing and took the spindle into her own hands to give it a try. Unfortunately, she pricked her finger and fell into a deep sleep. This sleep spread throughout the entire castle, putting everyone to sleep - from the King and Queen to the animals and even the fire. A hedge of thorns grew around the castle, making it impossible for anyone to enter, and rumors spread about the sleeping Princess, Rosamond. Many King ' s sons tried to get through the thorns, but none were successful.

Many a long year afterward, there was a castle hidden behind a thorn hedge. Many young men tried to pass through it, but they were caught by the thorns and died a sad death. Years later, a Prince heard an old man talking about the castle and the beautiful Princess named Rosamond who slept inside it for 100 years, along with the King, Queen, and their court. The old man warned the Prince about the dangers, but he was determined to see Rosamond and ignored the warning. After a hundred years, it was time for Rosamond to be awakened. As the Prince approached the hedge of thorns, it turned into a hedge of beautiful flowers and let him pass. Everything in the castle was asleep, even the animals and insects, but as the Prince went further, they all woke up. He finally reached Rosamond' s room and kissed her, which woke her up. Everyone in the castle woke up too, and they were all amazed to see each other again. The Prince and Rosamond got married and lived happily ever after.
