- VACAPAF Strategic 2021-2022 Goals
Our District’s Strategic Plan represents the Mission, Vision, Goals, Strategies, and Action
Plans of our district. This plan outlines the process that VACAPAF will utilize to continue
to develop tomorrow’s leaders, promote brotherhood and academic excellence while
providing service and advocacy for our communities. Our plan has five domains in which
our goals are identified. They are Operations Management, Communications/Public
relations & Brand management, Leadership/Membership Management, Fiscal
Management, Program Management.

Operations Management ● Provided an online calendar of all district events, meeting dates, IMDP training, and IMDP timelines..
● Facilitated a new virtual and online process for competing in district awards. More chapters and
Communications/ brothers participated in the process than ever before. 4-7 entrees for some categories.
Public Relations and Brand ● Completed our first Fall Conference (Hosted in Area 4; Northern Virginia) in the history of the district
Management with 297 attendees (158 in-person; 184 virtual).
● Established 7 College Ambassadors serving under the Assistant District Director to develop
Leadership/ expectations and guidelines for the future position of Assistant Area Director.
Membership Management ● Adopted a new guideline for running for President and 1st-President of the district.
● Established a district-wide online handbook for all chapters to reference operations, schedule of
Fiscal Management events, procedures, staff, constitution, and other additional information to support the brothers.
● Distributed a newsletter sent to 2100 active and inactive brothers in VACAPAF twice a month. The
open rate was an average of 49%. The industry average for open rate communications is 25%.
● Renovated the newsletter with a new template and design in Constant Contact.
● Conducted 8 monthly chapter and district leaders' calls with a set agenda of objectives, strategies,
and tasks. Upon completion of meetings, notes of the meetings were provided electronically with the
PowerPoint to support chapters.
● Continued with our social media presence on Instagram, Facebook, and our website. Our Instagram
account increased by 30% of new followers.
● Provided our college chapter College Chapters Conference (3C) at the University of Richmond in
September 2021. The conference provided a full day of fraternal learning activities, and best practices
to enhance their growth in the fraternity.100% of the college chapters were represented.
● Conducted a new Summer Institute for the new or existing chapter or district leaders in July 2021.
10-12 workshops were presented with 110 participants.
● Offered a Leadership Academy for brothers and community-at-large people. The leadership series
featured industry experts and two brothers who completed the VACAPAF Leadership Academy
Program.
● Trained and certified 711 brothers in the IMDP process. This was 101% above the targeted goal.
● Initiated 171 new brothers into the fraternity during the Fall and Spring terms.
● Executed a training workshop for new brothers called ‘A Primer of Alpha Fundamentals” - 98%
attendance rate.
● Completed the new IMDP Request Form on AlphaMX.
● Provided two Candidate Office Hours for Applications. 100% of the 117 attendees rated the trainer
Excellent.
● Participated in the Reclamation Day (1-9) in conjunction with the General Headquarters.
● Implemented a virtual staff meeting with enlightenment sessions, workshops, and awards. The keynote
speaker was Bro. Julian C. Wilson (grandson of Jewel Robert Harold Ogle).
● Chief Dean training on the Alpha University - Elevate Assessment.
● 99% of the chapters were compliant with district assessments.
● Moved our district account to a black-own bank: Movement Bank, Danville, VA
● Ended the fraternal year with a surplus in the budget and convention.

Program Management
● Collaborated with AKAs on the Phirst Pham Legislative Event. 900 attendees and over 2000
views.
● Donated 500 children’s books to AliceWest Fleet Elementary School in Arlington at the convention.
An additional 700 books were given to 3 elementary schools by the local chapters.
● Provided a Prostate Awareness Seminar for the community using Facebook live.
● Raised $66,069 and had 16 chapters participate in March for Babies.
● Provided training sessions offered by Headquarters and the district to Chief Deans, Chapter Deans, and
Chapter Presidents on the new Alpha University/IMDP.
● Produced a presentation of the Omega brothers at the Convention.
● Conducted 8 sessions to brothers on the national programs, special projects, etc. to support best
practices in implementing our fraternity’s goals.
CHAPTER GLOWS
● Beta Gamma (Virginia State University) won College Chapter of the Year with our General Organization.
Commended for the number of community events and external partnerships.
● Kappa Pi (College of William & Mary) brought their largest line in the history of the chapter
● 78 New College Brothers with a cumulative Grade Point Average of 3.2.
● College chapters with the highest cumulative GPAs are Gamma Iota (Hampton University), Kappa Pi (College of
William & Mary), and Iota Beta (University of Virginia).
● Theta Iota (Va Tech) initiated 7 new brothers in the Fall to bring the chapter back on-campus.
● Xi Alpha Lambda (Prince William), Alpha Phi Lambda (Norfolk), and Epsilon Nu Lambda (Portsmouth) inducted
the largest alumni intake lines for 2021-2022.
● March of Dimes presented awards of achievement to Zeta Upsilon Lambda (Reston/Loudoun), Beta Gamma
Lambda (Richmond), Omicron Alpha Lambda (Fredericksburg), and Iota Beta (University of Richmond). Brothers
Sam Bagwell, Carlos Stewart, and Myriffeah Howard also received individual awards from March of Dimes.
● Theta Rho Lambda (Arlington/Alexandria) provided a virtual vaccine information seminar to encourage the
community to get the COVID-19 vaccination shots.
● Alumni chapters and their Education Foundation raised over $100,000 to provide scholarships.
● Epsilon Iota Lambda (Suffolk) had a large attendance at their second annual gala function with 450 people. This
chapter has only 22 brothers.
● Rho Iota Lambda (Chesterfield), Xi Delta Lambda (Henrico), and Beta Gamma Lambda (Richmond) collaborated
on restoring the Evergreen Cemetery (Richmond) gravesites for Jewel Eugene Kincle Jones's parents.
● Omicron Alpha Lambda (Fredericksburg) completed a successful 2 day MLK Event featuring 34th General
President - Mark Tillman.
● Xi Alpha Lambda (Prince William) had the largest number of attendees in the district for the Phirst Pham Event.
● Successful Christmas Toy Drive by Nu Omicron Lambda (Ft. Lee) for the cities of Petersburg, Hopewell, and
Colonial Heights.
● The Alpha Pioneer’s Academy for the Rho Iota Lambda (Chesterfield) chapter was featured in Chesterfield
County’s Juneteeth Celebration.
● Xi Alpha Lambda consistently hosts a successful Boy Scouts Troop (Troop 1906).
● Gamma Nu Lambda (Lynchburg) presented $7,000 worth of scholarships facilitated by 21 brothers in the chapter.
● Nu Lambda (Petersburg) implemented a successful Brothers’ Keeper event with more than 50% participating to
assist a senior brother.
● Gamma Alpha Lambda (Charlottesville) is recognized in the media for its NextGen Reading Project.
● Theta Rho Lambda (Arlington/Alexandria) provided a Boot Camp for the health and wellness of members and the
community.
● Zeta Lambda (Newport News) implemented a successful reclamation activity to engage brothers in the fraternity.
● Successful Golf Tournaments by Xi Delta Lambda (Henrico), Epsilon Iota Lambda (Suffolk, VA), and Delta Beta
Lambda (Hampton).
● Increased visibility of chapter successes, programs, services, etc. on social media using Instagram.
