Sick is not weak
On October 14th, The SickKids Foundation released a jaw dropping new campaign, SickKids VS the Odds. If
you haven’t had the chance to see it yet take two minutes and watch it now!
Upcoming Event: SickKids Amazing Race, Trivia and Film
Screening!
We will be hosting our next event on Thursday, November 24th from 4:30PM
– 7:00PM. Come learn about the hospital through SickKids Amazing Race and
Trivia! It doesn’t matter if you are a new or a returning volunteer, these
activities are a great way to become more comfortable at the hospital and meet
other awesome volunteers. Following the events stick around to watch the
powerful documentary, Bat Kid Begins in the Hollywood Theatre. For more

Flu Shot or Mask Policy
It is mandatory for all volunteers to complete the Flu Shot Decision Form, regardless of whether or not you
choose to get the flu shot. If you have any questions please be in touch with your coordinator. Forms can be
found in the Volunteer Lounge. Please note: In areas where patients are present and patient care is
delivered, you must wear a mask if you have not been vaccinated.

On Wednesday, October 26th, 80 volunteers came together to celebrate the incredible contributions of our
volunteers. This event was just a small gesture of our immense thanks for all that you do. This year we were

Christmas or New Year’s Eve Volunteering Opportunities
We have exciting opportunities available on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day or New Year’s Eve. Activities include
helping with events for patients and families, handing out gifts, and assisting in activities in Marnie’s Lounge. If
you are interested, you can sign-up for a shift by clicking on this link: Holidays Volunteering Opportunities by
November 28th at 4:00 p.m. Shifts will be assigned on a first come, first served basis. If you have any

Holiday Storeroom Volunteers
We are currently seeking Holiday Storeroom Volunteers to help with toy sorting. Volunteers are needed
Monday-Friday, 9:30am-12:00pm or 1:30pm-4:00pm from Monday, December 5 – Friday, January 6. You must
be able to sign up for a minimum of 3 shifts per week for the entire time period (Note: you are still expected to
attend your current volunteer placement).
If you are interested, e-mail Iman ([email protected]) with the shifts you can commit to (ex. Monday,
Tuesday and Friday from 9:30am-12:00pm) by Monday November 14th.
Reminders!
Illness – If you are sick, do not come to the Hospital for your shift. Please inform your supervisor and
VR. In addition, you must call STARS at 416-813-6400 or email [email protected].
Attendance – Our attendance policy is that you must maintain a minimum of 90% in order to be
invited back for future volunteer terms. If you are missing a shift you must email your VR Coordinator
and supervisor.
Exams – shifts are only excused if your exam time conflicts with your shift time. Proof may be
requested.
Policy Change Reminder N95 Masks – Only volunteers in 7BCD, ED and the CCU, who have been mask
fit tested, will be permitted to enter rooms that require an N95 respirator (airborne precaution rooms).
If you are a volunteer on one of these units and do not know your mask size please contact your
coordinator.
