Importance of Water
Respected all! Today I have been blessed with this opportunity to
deliver myspeech on importance of water. I feel thankful to the entire
management herefor giving me such an honor.
Everyone knows that water is the soul of our life. It is the most
basic need for our survival, safety, progress, and development. It is a
sacred, naturaland precious resource. But, do we care about the
proper use of water? Aren’twe becoming reckless towards its use?
Can we imagine our life without sufficient water? In fact, no one can
live without water. Though we all acknowledge the fact, yet most of us
are misusing it mindlessly without caring.
A human can live without food for many days but canlive without
waterfor about three days only. Water ensures the survival of our food
chain.
Water is an essential source of fish, wildlife, and recreation. Water
plays an impotent role in the field of agriculture. Water is useful for
various domesticuses like washing clothes, bathing, cooking, etc. Water
is helping for balancingthe ecosystem. Also, it is useful in many
industries like the steel industry, fertilizers, chemicals, cement, paper,
etc. Through water, we are also generating electricity. It is essential
for survival, safety, progress and development.
As we all know that 97% of water available on earth is the salty
ocean water. And 2% of water is in the form of glaciers and polar ice caps.
Thus only 1%of water is available to drink. The available resources of
freshwater are
glaciers, rivers, lakes, under rocks and natural waterfalls. Considering
the growing world’s population and water needs, this water will soon go
dry, if noimmediate and enough measures are taken to conserve water.
Therefore, it issignificant for us to care about the proper management of
water.
Realizing the fact that water is a scarce and limited resource as well
it isessential for our life, we must use and utilize water in a very cautious,
planne
and prudent manner. So, friends, please give a call to your conscience and
startapplying the methodology of water conservation in our day to day life.
Thank you. (366 Words)

Good morning to the honourable judges, headmasters and headmistress,
teachers and guests, and members of the floor. Today, I would like to
share a speech, ‘Food is precious, and should not be wasted ’ with all of
you.
Oh no…. my stomach is rumbling… I need some food.
Ladies and gentlemen,
When you eat a meal or a snack, how much do you think about it? Do you
know where your food comes from? Or why it’s so important? During the
covid-19 pandemic, we stocked a lot of food and some daily grocery. This
is because the production of our daily needs was not functioning properly.
Thus, I deeply realize that food is precious and we shouldn’t waste it.
Members of the floor,
Food is something that provides nutrients. Nutrients are substances that
provide : energy for activity, growth, and all functions of the body such as
breathing, digesting food, and repair of the body, and for keeping the
immune system healthy. Thus without food, human can only live so long.
Food is a basic need and a basic right. Without reliable access to healthy
foods, people suffer.
Ladies and gentlemen,
For many people in the world, food waste has become a habit: buying
more food than we need at markets, letting fruits and vegetables spoil at
home or taking larger portions than we can eat.
These habits put extra strain on our natural resources and damage our
environment. When we waste food, we waste the labour, effort, investment
and precious resources (like water, seeds, feed, etc.) that go into
producing it, not to mention the resources that go into transporting and
processing it. In short, wasting food increases greenhouse gas emissions
and contributes to climate change.
It’s a big problem. In fact, worldwide, tonnes of edible food are lost or
wasted every day. Between harvest and retail alone, around 14 percent of
all food produced globally is lost. Huge quantities of food are also wasted
in retail or at the consumer level.
Preventing food from going to waste is one of the easiest and most
powerful actions you can take to save money and lower your climate
change footprint by lowering greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and
conserving natural resources.
Reducing food loss and waste is essential in a world where millions of
people go hungry every day . When we reduce waste, we respect that food
is not a given for the millions of people who go hungry every day.
Ladies and gentlemen,
I would like to end my speech with a quotes: Don’t waste food because so
many needy hands are waiting for it, sleeping with empty stomach.
Thank you very much.

Air Pollution
A very good morning to the honourable judges, teachers, parents and my
fellow friends. Today I would like to deliver a speech on Air Pollution which
has become a major challenge in recent times. Air pollution means mixing of
external hazardous gases and particulate matter in the air, which ultimately
route inside our body through inhalation. These gradually lead to respiratory
disorders and hence affect the health of human beings. Hence nowadays air
pollution is becoming a major concern for humanity.
Ladies and gentlemen,
There could be various causes of air pollution in today’s world. The world is
developing at the cost of the environment. Today’s society in view of
modernization is neglecting the mother nature and thereby adopting the
lifestyle which ultimately cost us on our health.
The number of vehicles on road has increased tremendously in the past few
decades, hence the emission level has also gone up. This can be very well
seen by an increase in ppm-level. The severe pollution level in Delhi is an
alarming situation for all of us.
The smoke coming out of factories or the poisonous gases coming out of
chemical factories are polluting the air. We have seen one major tragedy of
air pollution in the form of Bhopal Gas Tragedy. The increase in usage of air
conditioners in homes is also a cause of air pollution.
Also, the decrease in trees and plants leads to an imbalance in nature. It
causes Global warming and depletion of the Ozone layer. Global warming
leads to an imbalance of the natural cycle and hence de freezing of polar ice,
which is again a foreseen danger. The depletion of the ozone layer allows
the infrared rays to enter our atmosphere, and thereby causing skin diseases.
Ladies and gentlemen,
The air pollution is affecting the animals as well. It causes acid rains which
leads to the death of a lot of animals and marine creatures. Increasing
allergic patients nowadays are due to air pollution only. Asthma is affecting
the people of all age groups starting from 0 years of age.
In conclusion, nature is an asset given to us. It has given life to living beings.
And to pass on this asset to our offsprings as it is, we need to take good care
of it. If we need our future generations to grow up in a healthy environment,
then we need to take the steps now.
We need to stop cutting the trees for the sake of the construction of
residential colonies or factories. We need to adopt public transports for long
distances and bicycles for shorter distances, so as to reduce the smoke and
emissions and thereby reducing air pollution. Mother Nature needs to be
taken care of well for the flourishing of our upcoming generations. Let’s take
a pledge now to respect and protect our environment.
Thank you all for listening and for giving your precious time.

Hello and a very good morning to the honourable judges, wonderful
teachers and all my friends, standing in front of you all, I would like to
share my thoughts and views on “Healthy Living”.
To obtain healthy living is not easy. We have to work hard to get it.
There are several ways can lead to a healthy living. Among the ways are
having a proper diet, having enough sleep and also having enough
exercise.
First of all, our diet should follow the food pyramid. We should eat
rice, bread and noodles. We must eat plenty of vitamins such as fruits and
vegetables. We should also eat proteins such as fish, meat and chicken.
We shouldn’t eat fatty and greasy food. If we follow this diet, we will get a
lot of good and rewarding benefits.
Next, we should get enough sleep every day. We need at least 8
hours of sleep. What will happen if we do not get enough sleep? Well, for
sure we will feel very sleepy in class.
Furthermore, we must get enough exercise every day. We should
exercise to make our body healthy. If we do not exercise, we will become
obese.
Lastly, let us work together to build a healthy living lifestyle. Thank
you.

OF TOGETHERNESS
Na na na he ya na, na he ya ha na ha..na he ya he ya na ya nu wa, ya na
he yu nu wa naaa.
Good morning to the honourable judges, teachers, my fellow competitors
and last but not least; all members of the floor. If you have watched the
movie Frozen 2, you will know that the tune I sang just now is actually the
Northuldran chant. They chanted the rhythm right after knowing that the
mother of Elsa and Anna was actually a Northuldran. The way I see it, it
was their way of showing their sense of unity. Their sense of togetherness.
Yes, ladies and gentleman, today I will be talking about unity and
togetherness.
According to Oxford Advanced Learner’s English Dictionary, unity means
the state of being in agreement or the state of being joined together to form
one unit to work together. As for me, in my own words, I would say unity is
acceptance and a celebration of differences.
If you don’t already know, the reason why the late King Runeard; the
former king of Arendelle despised the Northuldra people so much;was
because of their magical power. He was so determined to believe that their
magic will only bring harm to the people of Arendelle. The people of
Arendelle were so different from the Northuldrans in a way that; they did
not have any magical powers.
What big impact a difference can make, right?
Anyway, I think I was going too far ahead by talking about the kingdom and
the people in the Frozen movie. It’s not even real but we can totally relate!
Now let’s get back to Malaysia, our beloved country. Just as the people of
Arendelle and the Northuldrans, the people in Malaysia too; have so many
differences. Where ever we are at the moment, each and every one of us
is different in so many ways I can’t even tell.
Fortunately, no ‘King Runeard’ ever exists in our country which is why; we
are able to stand and sit next to each other in peace right here, right now. If
you think that is not something that we should be thankful of, please think
again. We could be fighting each other for our differences at this moment
and this competition might not even exist. You and I might not even be
here today.
Ladies and gentleman,
Malaysians are amazing like that. We celebrate differences. We respect
each other’s beliefs. We tolerate, we understand and we enjoy being in
each other’s company. Non-chinese people enjoy the oranges and the
fireworks; even the ‘angpao’ during Chinese New Year. Non-malay and
non-muslim people enjoy lemang and ‘ketupat’ even the ‘duit raya’ during
Eid celebration. Non-indians people enjoy all the ‘maruku’, ‘manisan’ and
amazing decorations during Deepavali. Also, the most important thing is;
everyone gets to enjoy holidays for every festival! How great is that?
Remember the times when every Malaysians cheered for Datuk Lee
Chong Wei to win the match against Lin Dan? The times when we went
crazy over the penalty kick our Harimau Malaya team should score to
secure the win? The times when we checked out how many medals we
collected after every Sea, Olympic and even Commonwealth games?
Amazing times. Amazing how we are strongly united like that. Amazing
how we’ve come this far.
Therefore ladies and gentleman, we should never let this go to waste. Let
us strive together to make sure this unity that we have will never have to
break. Come whatever may, may this unity in Malaysia will always be the
biggest ‘frozen-hard’ to break, or even harder than that. I love my country
so much!
Thank you for listening!

A very good morning to honorable judges, time keeper, teachers, and
friends. It will be a great honor for me to stand right here in front of you to
give a speech about “Teacher's Day”.
This topic is an interesting topic about one of the heroes that exist in our
daily life. They are the teachers. For me a teacher is a noble job. A teacher
is not only tasked to deliver the subject matter, but also must be able to
educate the next generation of the nation. A teacher is not only required to
be smart but also to be in the moral. On the other hand the profession of
teachers is also referred to as a noble profession. In this case, it should be
realized that a teacher in carrying out his profession demanded the
presence of noble and high morals. Or in other words the essence of the
noble profession is the dedication of humanity. Each teacher should know
their roles and tasks in detail if they want to try and produce impressive
teaching. A teacher is a great person, full of patience and affection.
Ladies and gentlemen,
I do not know what I should express to reward my teachers who have
made me such a better person. The teacher’s struggle is full of simplicity
and sacrifice. That struggle actually inspires us as his students. A teacher
sets an example as a hero to this nation and country.
No one in this world can become successful without a teacher. President,
doctor, pilot, manager, even CEO will learn much from a teacher. All the
great people in this country, the great leaders of this country are the result
of a teacher. Life is a learning process. We will continue to learn until we
die later, therefore the figure of a teacher is an important figure for us all.
Ladies and gentlemen,
Thanks to the devotion of our teacher to us, because of that we can
achieve good results. Our teachers never tired of teaching us from the
beginning. Our teachers teach us to read, write, and also count. They also
give all the knowledge they have so we can become the great people later.
With the guidance of our teachers we feel like under the supervision and
care of our own parents. This is because we and our teacher have made a
great bond.
Therefore, I would like to express my deepest gratitude for the services
and sacrifices of my teachers so far. Thanks for guiding me. Thank you for
educating me. Thank you for everything. I am proud of my teachers. They
are an inspirational figure to me and to all of us. Maybe someday, I and all
of you can follow in their footsteps as a servant of the nation.
So that’s the end of my speech. If there is any mistake, I do apologize.
Thank you.

DREAM
The most powerful weapon on the planet isn’t a nuclear bomb or a
military rifle. Neither is it my brother’s snoring, at 3.am in the morning.
Yes, that nearly took the record. It drives me crazy everyday. But the
most powerful weapon on earth is a dream.
Organising chairperson, honourable judges, headmasters, teachers,
fellow friends, ladies and gentlemen. Today, I would like to share with you
about ‘Dream.’
I remember when I was 9 years old, my father used to read different
types of magazine and one of those magazines included the ‘Forbes’
magazine. One day, out of curiosity, I picked up the magazines and
started reading them. The 50 most successful people in the world by
Forbes. ‘Dad, what makes a person successful?’ My father thought about
this interesting question for a while before answering, ‘Son, each of us is
special. I want you to find your dream and I want you to pursue that dream.
And I really wanted to be successful in my life. I just didn’t know what my
dream was. Have you ever faced that problem in your life before? So, I
set out to try and discover my dream.
After almost burning down the entire kitchen and ruining a complete
art painting, I still hadn’t found my dream. I was frustrated. But, it was
about this time that my teacher invited me to take part in story telling
competition. I was shocked. A story telling competition? I could hardly
speak in front of my friend before stuttering or stammering, let alone taking
part in a story telling competition. However, after support from my
encouraging father, I decided that I would give it a try. After 2 months of
training and continuously perseverance, I was ready for the competition.
Unfortunately, I didn’t win anything but I had developed a dream. A dream
to inspire others through public speaking. And after having found my
dream, I started taking part in public speaking competition. Although I
failed to win in any school level public speaking competition for the last 2
years, but I wasn’t going to give up that easily. I took each failure as a
learning opportunity to sharpen my oratorical skills.
Les Brown, a well-renowned motivational speaker, once said, “Shoot
for the moon. Even if a person misses, he will land among the stars”. In
reality, we have many dreams, but we may not achieve all our goals
because of certain constraints. So, it is important to dream big so that
even if we don’t achieve our goal, we will fall somewhere near our goal.
When one dreams big, he does not put any restriction on himself. Dreams
are what differentiate great people from ordinary people. Ordinary people
only dream about what they can achieve. Hence, they can never carry out
extraordinary tasks.
There are loads of examples of notable people who’ve dared to
dream big but failed at first. These “dreamers” are oftentimes household
names – we know them because they’ve reached the pinnacle of success.
While working a secretarial job, Rowling, now famous for the Harry Potter
series of books, was fired because she was spending more time working
on the book at work than she was with her secretarial duties. Rowling
spent 7 years toiling away at the book, suffered through the death of her
mother, a divorce, and living on government assistance. But she dared to
dream big and is now the wealthiest author in the world.
Dreams are what have made everything in this room possible, from
lights to even this microphone. Dreams have allowed a 12 years old
student to stand here to finally reach the district level speaking competition.
Today, dreams can allow you to become what you envision yourself to be.
In this very room, I see the next Steve Jobs on the right hand side of the
room. I see the next Oprah Winfrey on the left hand side of the room. I
even see the next Christiano Ronaldo right there in the middle. Yes, that’s
you young boy. Dreams are what made many things possible in our lives.
I strongly believe that when you pursue your dream, work hard for it!
Believe in it! Sacrifice for it and never ever give up. You will fulfil your
dream as I did. Thank you.

My Favourite Season – Summer
Hello everyone! Today I would like to share with you about “My Favourite
Season – Summer”.
Seasons keep changing but they also come back every year. This is one of
my most favourite parts about them. They always return no matter what.
Everyone has a favourite season and so do I. My favourite season is the
summer season. There are many reasons to like it which I will explain below.
Why Summer is My Favourite Season?
Just like many other kids my age, I like the summer season the most. What’s
not to like about it? You get to enjoy long holidays as everyone gets a break
from school. Similarly, parents allow the kids to have ice creams.
Cold drinks are another reasons why summer is my favourite season. We
get to have such a wide variety of food items during this season. On the
healthier side, we also get incredible mangoes in the summer season.
As mangoes are my favourite fruit, I tend to like summers even more.
Summers make us truly appreciate and savour a lot of things.
During the summer holidays, I get to spend time with my family and friends
to the fullest. When we get lucky, we even go on family trips. I look forward to
them every year, even if it is a small trip. Most importantly, there are so
many activities that I get to do during summers like joining summer camps,
cycling, swimming, and more. Summers are so bright and exciting that it has
always been my favourite season. Here is a poem about summer:
Lie back on the fresh cut grass and look up to the sky,
Summer sunshine warms my face as butterflies fly by.
I rest my head and think about the things that make me smile,
Summer sunshine always makes the world so nice and bright.
Thank you summer for the sun and all the reasons why,
Summer is the best of all the seasons that go by!
Thank you.

Noise PollutionAt School
One day during the English lesson, my classmate was tapping fingerson
the table, then teacher said, ‘Ken, you are making noise pollution.’ At
that time, I was wondering what is noise pollution.
Good morning to the chairperson, honorable judges and the
audiences. It is indeed an honor to be given the chance to stand here
and share my speech about ‘Noise Pollution at School’.
We normally heard about air pollution or sea pollution, but little attention
has been given by individuals or government concerning noise pollution.
Noise can be defined as an unwanted or undesired sound by Penn,
1979. Decibel is the standard unit for measurement of sound.
Usually,80 dBA is the level at which sound becomes physically painful. In
school area, the noise level should be around the range of 35 dBA to 55
dBA.
Noise pollution at school environment is due to many sources. Factors
such as traffic congestion, people pass-by, the road conditions, road
uses and traffic lightwill disturb school's activities because of the noise it
makes. Noise from vehicles especially motorcycles, buses and trucks
are also very annoying and disturbing. For example, my school is
located near roadways. Sometimes when motorcycle pass by, I only
hear ‘Vroom’ than teachers’ teaching.Besides, school located near the
construction site will be disturbed by construction activities such as
piling, hammering and operation of big machines. All these activities will
lead to noise.Schools are located near busy places and the school's
building made of wood or concrete which has no sound insulation
characteristic will cause noise pollution to the school's environment too.
Noise pollution around the educational area can negatively affect the
performance of both teachers and students. In the research of Ikenberry
(1974), he has determined some effects of noise pollution to school
students, such as: They did not hear the teacher as well; They found it
more difficult to conduct classroom discussions; It was more difficult to
study; They felt it was necessary to talk loudly in class in order to be
heard; and Outside noise bothered them.At consequently, they will lose
their interest to study. Teachers also can’t teach effectively during
teaching session, due to the students cannot hear their voice clearly.
Especially now we are wearing mask, it makesboth teachers and
studentsharder to hear clearly. The noise pollution in school also causes mental
stress and health problem such as headache.
There are many ways to reduce noise pollution problems from getting worst
especially in schools' environment. They are, using a school building that has
sound insulation system; Building a high fence using concrete wall or wood;
Planting more trees in the school's surrounding;A good planning before building
a school; Stop or remove the noise: Society awareness about the noise problem;
A strict laws concerning noise pollution; last but not least, Speed limit for road
users near school surrounding.
This is a very important matter that we should take into account and ifitis
possible, to solve this noise pollution problem before it's too late.
Thank you.
NO. 10
Friendship
A very good morning to the honourable judges, teachers, parents, and my fellow
friends. I am going to present a speech about friendship. Friendship is one of the
treasures that anyone can possess. We have the right to choose friends because
they will be with us forever. Our parents and siblings are loving us as they are our
own blood. But a friend is someone, who is initially a stranger. Then they take their
place in our life above all the other relations. Friendship is nothing but true and pure
love without expectations in return.
Ladies and Gentlemen,
True friends always support each other even during the hardest of times. A true friend
is one who feels happy for our success, on the `other hand, who feel gloomy for our
failures. A true friend may criticize also so that we may come out of our weakness.
He may scold us if we do a mistake and guide the right path. That’s why it is being
said that true friend is more precious than any gem in our life. Love from your friend
will always be unconditional. They may expect nothing from us but shower their love
always.
Ladies and Gentlemen,
Friendship is a divine relationship, which is beyond the definition of blood relations. It
is the only relation that is truly priceless. We may acquire all kinds of pleasures by
putting our efforts. But even then life may remain dull, without having someone to
share our life with some true friends.
It’s natural that human being always tends to find emotional support and social life. In
spite of having everything in life, we may remain in a vacuum. It happens only when
we have no such good friend to share our small and small happiness in life. True
friends are always there to listen to us unconditionally.
Ladies and Gentlemen,
Friendship will provide us with thousands of fun moments in life which we may
memorize in our old age. But side by side, with times this relation may have moments
of crisis. A misunderstanding may crop in and this amazing relation may start
weakening.
Friendship is a relationship that is like a newborn baby. Friendship is always pure and
like a bundle of joy which only needs more and more nourishment to grow. Never
ignore true friends or take them for granted. We may come across various people at
different phases of our life. Many may pretend to be our friends but never go by
outward glitter.
At last, I wish to say that a good friendship is very difficult to come across. Therefore,
we should appreciate this divine relationship having a base on understanding and
feelings. We just need friends to live happily. Lasting friendship is a blessing for
everyone.
We don`t need to pretend to be someone else when we spend time with our friends.
They give us total freedom to be who we are in reality. We should always be grateful
to people who make us happy. A true friend is one of the most precious possessions
in anyone’s life.
Thank you all for listening and for giving your precious time.

Where’s That Dream
Good morning to the chairperson, honorable judges, wonderful teachers, fellow
contestant, and my dearest audience.
I want to perform, I can be a singer. I want to draw, I can be an artist. I want to
save the world, I will be a superhero. We have many dreams, aspirations and plans.
The younger version of ourselves could be speeding past building this in our
heads, building castles, because in our eyes, our dreams stand on a golden
pedestal. “You can be whatever you want,” our parents and teachers always say.
Raise your hand if you have an enthusiastic mother constantly reminding you, “Hey
Kiddo, you can be whatever you want, you just have to dream.” Well, I have a
mother like that too. She reminds me of this every single day. I was that
professional dreamer, I am now that working dreamer.
Dreaming is baseless, some might say. For a fact I know that its not true at all.
When you have people constantly throwing daggers at you, telling you “You are
going to fail anyway, why bother trying.” Something inside of you begins to die.
Inevitably you will face a lot of failures, a lot of pain, a lot of disappointment. At time
you just want to throw your head back and ask yourself, “Why? why is this
happening to me? I am just trying to follow my passion, I am not trying to kill or
steal from anybody.”
So many people abandoned their dreams, letting their dreams be stagnant. Why?
They are afraid to take the very first step, afraid of failure, afraid to exert
themselves to the point where they are on the verge of collapse.
Now you are going to doubt yourself at times, because pursuing your dreams is
not a honeymoon affair. But remember, hardships are here to strengthen your faith
and carve a clearer path towards your goal. It is important that you believe in
yourself to know that your passion burns through you, for you.
Now we can always blame our failures on the people around us, on the
environment that we are in, but instead let us seek faith in ourselves and race
towards our dreams. I challenge you to go to a place where everyone is against
you, where you feel like an absolute outcast.
When you realised that you have got to first invest in yourself before gathering
support, you have passed the first obstacle, yourself. You must be the first to see it
in yourself, invest in yourself, believe in yourself, before you except any form of
success. After all you are your pillar of strength, you are the reflection of the blood
you shed, sweat you drip and tears you cry to succeed.
To everyone whose dreams are now preserved and sunken deep down in your
heart or etched far back in you mind, take a shot! Start distinguishing yourself from
people around you, ask yourself “What gets me excited? What make me smile to
the prospect of a new day?” Get motivation, fire up that engine inside of you for it
will take you far. With that drive and the oncoming rejection, hindrance will not kill
your relentless spirit.
I challenge you to climb that mountain you’ve always wanted, to give the
unheard voice, to take a step, to start a movement. Know that you can make you
family proud, make your school proud, make your country proud, but most
importantly, know that one day, just one day you will be able to look up the sky and
say triumphantly, “I have succeeded, under this very same sky, I have worked and
worked. I am now a better version of myself.”
With this touch you heart and ask “What will I dedicate my life to? Where is that
dream?” Because now is the time for you to raise towards your dreams. Ladies and
gentlemen, thank you.
NO . 12
Friends
A very good morning to the honourable judges, teachers and friends.
The topic I am going to speak on today is “Friends”.
Who in this world can survive without friends? No one. Even Will Smith in ‘I Am
Legend’ had aliens as his buddies. We need friends to laugh with, to be our
playmates and to lend an ear when we are down with problems. It cannot be
denied that students like me today, in fact prefer to go to friends to pour all our
problems.
Remember your first crush? That oh-so-cute Harry Potter in the movie? With his
gentleman behaviour and his owl glasses? Where you could sit for hours and
watch the movie over and over again while swooning about him. Well, most of us
tend to be caught up in this fantasy world where he would be Prince Charming. I’m
sure you did not run to your mum and say, “Mummy, mummy, Daniel Radcliffe as
Harry Potter is so cute….” She would have said, “Enough dreaming! Go and study
for exam!” What will your friend do in the same situation? Sit down with you and
say, “Yeah, I wish I was Hermione. At least I get to act with him!” This explains it
all. We totally and utterly need our friends in moments like this.
Not only in our fantasy world. Our friends also need to be by our side as our
‘Fashion Police’. I am sure none of you would want your mum’s advice on what to
wear to a birthday party where mummy will say, “Dear, this is a comfortable dress.
Never mind the striking pink rabbit on the front, it makes you all more attractive.”
With your friends you could choose the gorgeous dress with matching heels which
will look fabulous as Kimora Lee Simmons would say, “You can save a major
fashion disaster.”
Next, exam fever. There’s about an hour to go before an exam when suddenly it
strikes you that you haven’t memorised the important idioms yet. Who else other
than your best friend will sit next to you and repeat the words over and over again
so that it will enter your brains and hopefully remain there for the next two hours.
“Friends are like angels with wings.” Yet not all can be angels. There are some out
there who are more like devils in disguise. Exactly like the paparazzi. When you
are all gorgeous and problems free like Hannah Montana you become the ‘teen
idol’ but when you start having downfalls in your life you become Britney Spears.
The same thing goes with your friends. There are some of them who are only your
side because of your status as ‘The Popular Kid’, but when you are not so cool
anymore, they ditch you. Thus, you must always be careful in choosing your
friends. Never allow other people to choose out your friends. As it goes, “Do not
tell me whom to pick as my friend. Remember, I picked you.”
We can’t help picking up the phone and dialling our best friend’s phone number
when we are bored. Or moving our fingers with the speed of lightning to text our
friends when we have nothing to do. Or even cycle to their houses to catch up on
the latest gossip. Because this is what friends are for.
As life goes on, we lose our friends and gain a lot more. Some friends stay true to
your side, some were never there for you to begin with. Well, there are times when
one special friend ends up becoming your bridesmaid. Good or bad friends come
and go. But there’s one thing for sure. We can’t live without them. Here is a poem
on friends:
Do not walk behind me, I may not lead…
Do not walk in front of me, I may not follow…
Walk beside me and be my friend.
With that, I thank you.

Good morning to the honourable judges, headmasters and headmistress, teachers
and guests, and members of the floor. Today, I would like to share a speech, ‘Food
is precious, and should not be wasted ’ with all of you.
Oh no…. my stomach is rumbling… I need some food.
Ladies and gentlemen,
When you eat a meal or a snack, how much do you think about it? Do you know
where your food comes from? Or why it’s so important? During the covid-19
pandemic, we stocked a lot of food and some daily grocery. This is because the
production of our daily needs was not functioning properly. Thus, I deeply realize
that food is precious and we shouldn’t waste it.
Members of the floor,
Food is something that provides nutrients. Nutrients are substances that provide :
energy for activity, growth, and all functions of the body such as breathing,
digesting food, and repair of the body, and for keeping the immune system healthy.
Thus without food, human can only live so long. Food is a basic need and a basic
right. Without reliable access to healthy foods, people suffer.
Ladies and gentlemen,
For many people in the world, food waste has become a habit: buying more food
than we need at markets, letting fruits and vegetables spoil at home or taking larger
portions than we can eat.
These habits put extra strain on our natural resources and damage our
environment. When we waste food, we waste the labour, effort, investment and
precious resources (like water, seeds, feed, etc.) that go into producing it, not to
mention the resources that go into transporting and processing it. In short, wasting
food increases greenhouse gas emissions and contributes to climate change.
It’s a big problem. In fact, worldwide, tonnes of edible food are lost or wasted every
day. Between harvest and retail alone, around 14 percent of all food produced
globally is lost. Huge quantities of food are also wasted in retail or at the consumer
level.
Reducing food loss and waste is essential in a world where millions of people go
hungry every day . When we reduce waste, we respect that food is not a given for
the millions of people who go hungry every day.
Preventing food from going to waste is one of the easiest and most powerful
actions you can take to save money and lower your climate change footprint by
lowering greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and conserving natural resources.
Ladies and gentlemen,
I would like to end my speech with a quotes: Don’t waste food because so many
needy hands are waiting for it, sleeping with empty stomach.
Thank you very much.

Hello and a very good morning to the honourable judges, wonderful teachers
and all my friends. Today, I am standing here to challenge myself to speak English
just as my speech entitled “Learning English - We can do it!”
English is currently one of the most widely spoken and written language
worldwide. Being able to understand English unlocks all kinds of fun and chances.
So, how can we boost our English? Let’s kick start this journey by taking
these three steps. There are reading, singing and talking.
Reading is one way to increase our vocabulary. People got fed up easily of
reading because they chose the wrong book to read. As a beginner, we can start
with the big books that contains big pictures and only a few words per page. Soon,
we will able to read the story book and even novel too.
Next, we can try listening to English songs and singing along with them.
When I look back to how my English came about, I would think of all the wonderful
nursery rhymes I sang with friends in school.
After that, we should use English in our daily life. Try to use English to speak
to the people around us. Don’t feel embarrassed whenever we make mistakes
because that’s how we learn from them.
Lastly, I took my first step to read my first big book. I took my first step to listen to
nice English songs. I took my first step to speak English with the people around me and
speak in front of you today. What about you?
Come. Join me. Learning English- We can do it! Thank you.

BELIEVE IN YOURSELF
Dear friends, how many times somebody said to you, you can’t do it. They
can be your parents, relatives, and sometimes friends too. When you say, I want to
participate in music show or I want to be an actor or an athlete for that matter; they
say you can’t do it. When somebody wants to do something out of the league
people around them try to demotivate them. Why do they do it? What’s the motive
behind it? What I will say is, that’s not important. You should believe in yourself first.
A very good morning to the chairperson, judges, teachers and all my fellow
friends. Today, I would like to share with you a speech, entitled ‘Believe In
Yourself’.
Let me start by saying this “If you don’t believe in yourself why anybody else
going to believe in you”. It’s as simple as that. You may ask why and how I will trust
myself and my abilities? Right?
Almost everyone desires to be successful, everyone hopes to live a happy life,
but how can we do that. I feel “believe in yourself” is the most important.
“Believe in yourself” means a positive attitude. When you wake up in the
morning, open your eyes, draw the curtain, enjoy the first sunlight of the day. And
tell yourself “Have a happy day”. Just as professor Galbraith says, “You yourself
decide whether you are happy today. Be sure you are happy today.”
Then you go to work or study, do it with your full enthusiasm. You should
overcome your shyness, your timidity and your tension. Be brave and get courage
from your heart, face up to your challenges. Say to yourself, “I’ll try it, and I will try
my best.” Remember, no one can obstruct your progress. Believe in yourself, you
can do it, you can manage it. Always share and show ideas with others, cooperate
with others.
I am going to share with you various stories that demonstrate the power of
belief and then I am going to tell you how you can actually build that belief and
make your own life goals come true.
I read a story about a salesman, who practices laughing for five minutes in
front of the mirror every day before he goes out. He wants to meet everyone with a
smile on his face. He becomes a successful salesman. I was inspired, everyone
wants to make friends with those who are happy, optimistic and full of enthusiasm.
Chat with a smile on your face, let people around you know that you are confident
and enthusiastic. Yes, you should believe in yourself, you should be confident. I
think that true confidence comes from your inner heart. It is stable and will not
change with the circumstance. Do what you want to do. Never let your thoughts lay
in your diary quietly. That’s meaningless. You should put it into practice. Never
hesitate, do it with all your heart.
Next, it is the story of two brothers who dared to believe that they could make
men fly. Their names were Wilbur and Orville Wright. Neither of the Wright brothers
had finished high school. In fact they both owned a bicycle shop. Imagine what
would have happened if they thought they were no good since they had little formal
education. Imagine if they listened to everyone who said man could never fly.
Somebody else might have made the aeroplane but the world would have never
heard of these two men. The Wright brothers accomplished the unbelievable
because they had the courage to harness the power of belief and combine it with
action.
In conclusion, success needs your confidence, passion and positive attitude;
living a happy life needs your confidence, passion and positive attitude. All this
needs you to “believe in yourself”.
So, believe in tomorrow, believe in dream, and believe in yourself’! Thank you.
