Present continuous tense

Present continuous tense คือรูปกริยาที่ใช้กับสิ่งที่กำลังเกิดขึ้น หรือกำลัง
ดำเนินอยู่ ในช่วงเวลาปัจจุบัน โดยจะใช้โครงสร้าง “is/am/are + กริยารูป -ing”

1. ใช้เพื่อบอกเล่าเหตุการณ์หรือการกระทำในปัจจุบันที่กำลัง
ดำเนินอยู่และยังไม่จบลง (จะจบลงในอนาคต) โดยอาจพบคำ
บอกเวลา (Adverbs of time) ปรากฏอยู่ในประโยคด้วย เช่น
now, at the moment, right now เป็นต้น ตัวอย่างการใช้เช่น

I am studying at Chulalongkorn university.
(ฉันกำลังศึกษาอยู่ที่มหาวิทยาลัยจุฬาลงกรณ์มหาวิทยาลัย)

3. ใช้กับเหตุการณ์หรือการกระทำ 2. ใช้กับเหตุการณ์หรือการกระทำที่กำลัง
ที่กำลังจะเกิดขึ้นในอนาคต โดยมี เป็นกระแสหรือเป็นที่นิยมอยู่ในขณะนั้น เช่น
การเตรียมและวางแผนไว้ล่วงหน้า
อย่างแน่นอนแล้ว และมักพบคำ These day, most people are favoring
บอกเวลา (Adverbs of time) เช่น healthy food.
tonight, this evening,
tomorrow, next week เป็นต้น (ปัจจุบันผู้คนส่วนใหญ่กำลังนิยมอาหาร
ตัวอย่างการใช้ เช่น เพื่อสุขภาพ)

Cherprang and Pun are
going on holiday next week.

(เฌอปรางและปัญจะไปพักร้อน
สัปดาห์หน้า)

4. ใช้กับเหตุการณ์หรือการกระทำที่เกิดขึ้นบ่อยจนเกินไป ทำให้ซ้ำซากและน่าเบื่อ
ตัวอย่างเช่น

Suwich is constantly talking. I wish he would shut up.
(สุวิชพูดไม่หยุดเลย ฉันหวังว่าเขาจะหยุดพูดเสียที)
**ผู้พูดแสดงอาการรำคาญจากการพูดไม่หยุดของสุวิช

I don't like gangster near my house because they are always making
noisy.

(ฉันไม่ชอบกลุ่มอันธพาลใกล้บ้านของฉัน เพราะพวกเขามักจะทำเสียงดังเสมอ)
**ถึงแม้ว่าเป็นเหตุการณ์ที่เกิดขึ้นประจำแต่มันเกินพอดีจึงใช้ในรูปประโยค

Present Continuous Tense

ลักษณะเด่นของรูปประโยค Present Continuous Tense คือ การใช้ V. to be (Is, Am, Are)
และตามด้วยคำกริยาที่มีการเติม -ing โดยรูปประโยค Present Continuous Tense มี 3 รูป
แบบ ดังนี้

1. ประโยคบอกเล่า

โครงสร้างประโยคบอกเล่า : Subject + V. to be + Verb. เติม ing +
Object + (คำบอกเวลา)
สิ่งที่เราต้องคำนึงในรูปประโยคของ Present Continuous Tense คือ
การใช้ V. to be ซึ่งประกอบด้วย is, am, are โดยจะเลือกใช้ V. to be ตัว
ใดนั้นให้สังเกตที่ประธานของประโยค ถ้าประธานเป็น He, She, It ให้ใช้ is
แต่ถ้าประธานเป็น I ให้ใช้ am และถ้าประธานเป็น You, We, They ให้ใช้
are และเปลี่ยนรูปคำกริยาโดยการเติม ing ตัวอย่างเช่น

My sister is playing violin.
(น้องสาวของฉันกำลังเล่นไวโอลิน)
** ประโยคนี้ประธานคือ My sister หรือใช้ She แทนได้ จึงต้องตามด้วย
V. to be คือ is และเติม ing หลังคำว่า play

2. ประโยคคำถาม

โครงสร้างประโยคคำถาม : V. to be + Subject +
Verb. เติม ing + object + (คำบอกเวลา)?
ประโยคคำถามใน Present Continuous Tense ไม่มี
กฎอะไรมากมายเลยค่ะ เพียงแค่สลับที่ V. to be ขึ้นมา
ไว้ต้นประโยค โดยต้องพิจารณาการเลือกใช้ V. to be
ตามประธานของประโยคด้วย เพียงเท่านี้ก็จะได้ประโยค
คำถาม ตัวอย่างเช่น

Is it raining at the moment ?
(ฝนกำลังตกอยู่ตอนนี้หรือเปล่า?)

Are you lying to me ?
(คุณกำลังโกหกฉันหรือเปล่า?)

3. ประโยคปฏิเสธ

โครงสร้างประโยคปฏิเสธ : Subject + V. to be + not + Verb. เติม ing +
object + (คำบอกเวลา)
สำหรับรูปประโยคปฏิเสธคงรูปเดิมคล้ายกับประโยคบอกเล่า แต่เพิ่ม not
ขึ้นมาหลัง V. to be เพียงเท่านี้ก็จะเป็นประโยคปฏิเสธใน Present
Continuous Tense ตัวอย่างเช่น

The students are not studying Science.
(นักเรียนไม่ได้กำลังเรียนวิชาวิทยาศาสตร์)

Sunisa is not doing homework.
(สุนิสาไม่ได้กำลังทำการบ้าน)

ความรู้เพิ่มเติม

หลักการเติม ing ท้ายคำกริยาโดยทั่วไปสามารถ
เติม ing ได้เลย แต่มีข้อยกเว้นบางกรณี ดังนี้

1. คำกริยานั้นมีสระเสียงสั้น (อะ อิ อุ เอะ โอะ ฯลฯ) และโดยมากมักเป็น
a, e, i, o, u อยู่หน้าพยัญชนะท้าย หรือคำกริยานั้น ๆ มีตัวสะกดเพียง
ตัวเดียว ก่อนเติม ing ให้เพิ่มตัวสะกดของคำนั้นซ้ำอีกตัวหนึ่งแล้วจึง
เติม ing เช่น

sit ---> sitting
cut ---> cutting
get ---> getting
shop ---> shopping

2. คำกริยานั้นลงท้ายด้วย e ให้ตัด e 3. คำกริยาที่มีสระ 2 ตัว
ทิ้งแล้วเติม ing เช่น (A, E, I, O, U) ให้เติม
ing ได้เลย เช่น
come ---> coming
drive ---> driving cook ---> cooking
make ---> making keep ---> keeping
read ---> reading
ride ---> riding
smoke ---> smoking

4. คำกริยาที่ลงท้ายด้วย ie ให้เปลี่ยน ie เป็น y แล้วจึงเติม ing เช่น

die ---> dying
lie ---> lying

5. คำกริยาที่มีสองพยางค์ และออกเสียงหนัก (stress) ที่พยางค์
หลัง โดยพยางค์นั้นมีสระและตัวสะกดเพียงตัวเดียว ให้เพิ่มตัวสะกด
ของคำนั้นซ้ำอีกตัวหนึ่งแล้วจึงเติม ing เช่น

begin ---> beginning
refer ---> referring
swim ---> swimming
