SEASONS AUGUST | CHRISTMAS 2023 allsaintswinterpark.org | 3 Dear Friends, Everything we do at All Saints expresses the promises made in Holy Baptism — proclaiming the Gospel, loving one another, and learning to trust God together. In so doing, we discover what first Christians experienced. As the Apostle Paul writes in 1 Thessalonians 2.8, So deeply do we care for you that we are determined to share with you not only the gospel of God but also our very lives because you have become very dear to us. Nurturing friendship is at the heart of our experience at All Saints. Every person longs to be known for who they are and belong to something greater than themselves. At All Saints, we value and support your ever-deepening friendship with God and each other in this very special place. Nurturing friendship includes time invested together. Our leaders, clergy, and staff worked hard this summer to plan absolutely brilliant experiences in the months ahead for the Parish and offer events and opportunities that will bless you and our neighbors in Winter Park, Orlando, and beyond. Circle or highlight and add events to your calendar that you, your friends, your household, your family, and others won’t want to miss. Plan on showing up, diving in, benefiting from, and deeply enjoying many moments that will make your heart lighter as the roots of your soul deepen. Of course, invite your friends, family, and neighbors to join you. We welcome all as we seek to follow Jesus Christ. More than ever, this world needs a generous-spirited trustworthy local congregation like All Saints. For generations, God has been doing something beautiful in our midst. Of course, that’s because you keep enjoying and sharing this blessing! Ever yours in Christ, The Rev. F. Stuart Shelby RECTOR | ALL SAINTS CHURCH OF WINTER PARK

It is one of those rare days that a Summer Sunday and a holy day of the Church Year coincide. This Sunday we celebrate the revelation of Jesus as Lord to his disciples on the holy mountain (Luke 9.28-36). During the 9:00 a.m. and 11:15 a.m. services, children get messy with supervised crafts in All Saints Kids while parents worship nearby. The festal theme of our Lord’s Transfiguration draws our attention to the light of Christ shining brightly in the world, our lives, and schools. Children and students return to school midweek, so bring your backpacks to tag and celebrate with a very special back-to-school blessing. 30 | allsaintswinterpark.org SEASONS AUGUST | CHRISTMAS 2023 HEALING MINISTRY 2023 All Saints Healing Ministry is an expression of this Parish’s vision that each of us lost daughters and sons of Adam and Eve would directly experience the liberating and life-giving power of God’s mercy and grace. IF YOU WOULD LIKE SOMEONE TO PRAY WITH YOU RIGHT NOW, PLEASE CALL (407) 599-4325. THE HEALING SERVICE ON TUESDAY NIGHTS A relevant message. Current songs of praise. Prayers for Healing. Monthly Communion Service on the last Tuesday. TUESDAY NIGHTS IN SEPTEMBER PEACE FOR ANXIOUS SOULS | 6:00 p.m. | Church It’s no question that we’re anxious. From our social media-induced stress to modern politics, dating or parenting, life and death, everything today seems to be inducing more and more anxiety. Could we find any peace? Any rest for our souls? Join us at the All Saints Healing Service as we proclaim the good news that there is still a “peace that surpasses our understanding” available to us if we know where to look. TUESDAY NIGHTS IN OCTOBER HEALING IN THE OLD TESTAMENT | 6:00 p.m. | Church Most of the time when we think about miraculous healings in the Bible, the books that come to mind are in the New Testament: Jesus’ many healings, the early apostolic signs and wonders, James’ admonition to the sick to go and be prayed for by the elders in the church. But there are other stories of healing in the Bible that are older than these. These ancient stories still speak to us today of a God who sees us and reaches down to touch our pain. TUESDAY NIGHTS IN NOVEMBER & DECEMBER TO HEAL A FAMILY | 6:00 p.m. | Church “Sin” is not a word we hear often today. It has, for the most part, been replaced by words like “mistake,” “unhealthy,” or “the reason why I am in therapy.” To call someone a sinner is to be Pharisaical, to call something sin is to invite a war. It has become a three letter four letter word. But the Bible doesn’t treat it this way. The idea of Sin in the Bible is both a true moral fact, and the onramp for compassion. Jesus was often derided as being a “friend of sinners,” an accusation He never refuted. And He is still befriending real flesh and blood sinners today.

Everything we have ultimately belongs to God. We are merely caretakers—or stewards. So when we talk about giving, we use the word stewardship: using the resources God has given us for his purposes and glory. Through our giving, we minister both inside and outside our walls. Sacrificial giving not only financially supports All Saints; it opens us up to a new life of trusting God with all we have. God is the giver of every good gift—and he calls us to share in the giving. Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change. -James 1.17 SCAN TO GIVE
