The Tsunami

A story about a tsunami happening to a young boy named Luke

The tsunami

Written By: Lauren Dove

BEEP, BEEP, BEEP, Luke’s
alarm went off at 6:30am. He
woke up and glared at his
clock. He slapped his alarm
to turn it off. He tried to get
up but suddenly, he fell down
onto his bed and passed out
sleeping.

He woke up around 7:34am.
He looked at his alarm clock
again, but this time it was a
different feeling. He started
to feel very jittery, like
something was wrong...

He realized that it was 7:34am! He
should have been at work by now. He
ricochet off his bed and yoiked his hair
brush off of his dresser. He then
quickly ran the brush through his thick
hair. He opened the door to his
bathroom, grabbed his tooth paste and
found his toothbrush laying besides the

counter. He rapidly brushed his teeth.

He shot out of the restroom and
ran around his whole house trying
to find his keys! He suddenly
found them in a tiny drawer and
intensely grabbed them. He ran to
the door, sat down, and placed his
keys on the ground. Then pulled
his shoes on, picked up his keys

again, and swiftly opened the door.

Luke then opened his car door and
sat down. He looked at the weather
from the car tablet and saw it was
going to rain almost all day. In that
exact moment, in the corner of his
eye, he saw something that was
unbearable. It was……. A
TSUNAMI!!!! Luke started to
hyperventilate. His eyes started to
get watery and he kept clenching his
eyes.

This tsunami, Luke thought, was as big
as the earth to Luke. Luke tried to
outrun the tsunami but it just ended up
rushing into his car! Luke pushed his
head all the way up to the seat and he
started crying. Luke felt like his tears
were as big as a huge snowball. Then,
he just realized it was the water filling up

under him.

The water was slowly, but quickly
hastening from the bottom to the top
of the car. Luke felt like his heart just
stopped moving because the car was
moving so quickly with the water. The
water was getting to the top, slowly,
and slowly, until his head started to
clench to the top of the car. Luke’s
hand was able to push down on the
window slider so swiftly that the water
started pouring out of the car and
back onto the street.

By that time, the tsunami then started to
slow down and Luke was able to put
himself back into place. Luke tried to
calmly step out of his car right as the
water stopped. Luke ended up crashing
about 20 cars down and about 5 trees.
He left his car where it was and walked to
town, drenched in water. Luke dug into
the pocket of his pants and looked at his
phone. It was as wet as the Atlantic
ocean. His pocket was full of water and
he could feel it dripping down his legs.

Luke eventually walked into town and
was able to find a telephone stand.
Luke called his father, told him what
happened, and asked him for a ride.
His father said he was busy, but Luke
begged. When Luke got in the car, he
caught up with his dad what really
happened. Luke’s dad dropped him
off at his house and Luke got inside.
He suddenly heard a ringing that felt
like it was as loud as a volcano. He
then just remembered it was his
telephone sitting on his desk. Uh oh….

It was Luke's boss.
Luke’s boss obviously fired him because he had

been late for almost 3 week STRAIGHT. Brenda (
Luke's boss) was so upset that she hung up. Luke
was devastated and wanted to go buy some ice
cream and never go outside again after what just
happened. Luke thought back to this morning……

“If only I have changed my clock the night
before, none of this would’ve happened.”

The End.
