ET-STAR HEALTH CORNER WHAT IS CERVICAL CANCER? The cervix is the bottom part of the uterus, where it meets the vagina. Cancer of the cervix (cervical cancer) happens when normal cells in the cervix change into abnormal cells and grow out of control. Most people whose cervical cancer is found and treated early do very well. WHAT ARE THE SYMPTOMS OF CERVICAL CANCER? Cervical cancer might not cause any symptoms at first. When it does cause symptoms, it can cause vaginal bleeding that occurs: ♦ In between menstrual cycles (meaning that the bleeding happens when you are not having your period) ♦ After sex ♦ After menopause IS THERE A TEST FOR CERVICAL CANCER? Yes. There are 2 tests to check or “screen” for cervical cancer: ♦ Pap test (also called a “Pap smear”) ♦ A test for a virus called “human papillomavirus” (“HPV”) Pap smear is a microscopic examination of swab from the cervical edges checkingfor abnormal cells. For HPV test, the fluid is tested in a lab to check for the virus. ♦ Biopsy-taking a piece of tissue and examine for presence of cancer cells. RECOMMENDATIONS FOR CERVICAL CANCER SCREENING: PAP smear and HPV test: ♦ Ages 21-29, pap every year ♦ Ages 30-65 years, pap every 3 years ♦ After age of 65, most women can stop the test if they have had 3 negative tests within the past 10 years. ♦ When a pap smear is combined with a test for human papillomavirus (HPV, the only known cause of cervical cancers), screening every 5 years is acceptable for women. ♦ In high-risk women, more frequent screening may be required. CAN CERVICAL CANCER BE PREVENTED? Yes. The only known culprit so far for cervical cancer is the HPV virus, which spreads through skin-to-skin contact and sexual intercourse. ♦ Vaccines that prevent people from getting infected with HPV are now available. This vaccine is available for both males and females. It works best if a person gets it before they start having sex, but it can also help if you have already had sex. ♦ Also, treating precancer cells can keep them from turning into cervical cancer. Get your children vaccinated! Get screened regularly! Encourage your partners, family and friends to get screened! TREATMENT OF CERVICAL CANCER Cervical cancer can be treated in different ways: ♦ Surgery – Some cases of cervical cancer are treated with surgery to remove the cancer. ♦ Radiation therapy – Radiation kills cancer cells. ♦ Chemotherapy – drugs that kill cancer cells or stop them from growing. ET-STAR ETHIOPIAN RECOGNIZES MRO EMPLOYEES WHO PARTICIPATED IN THE SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF THE BOEING 767 PASSENGER TO CARGO CONVERSION PROJECT Ethiopian MRO colorfully celebrated the completion of passenger-to-freighter conversion project on Boeing two B767-300 A/C , which are on service by Ethiopian Cargo. on August 05, 2023. Passenger to Freighter conversion project is a major alternation on the A/C structures and some systems, demanding well equipped infrastructure, dedicated and precise tooling, high level project management skill, engineering interpretation & decisions and highly skilled manpower on different production and maintenance skill areas. It is also business tendency of the day in the aviation industry to satisfy high air cargo movement demand . ET-MRO performed this massive project deploying its own overall facility, tool designing, tool fabrication, engineering systems, other technical skills and resources; which makes it pioneer in African and proudly one-step ahead achievement of the industry in its kind.
ET-STAR ETHIOPIAN INAUGURATES A NEW CREW BRIEFING CENTER Ethiopian Airlines launched a new Crew Briefing Centre on the 31st of July,2023. At this official inaugural occasion, Ethiopian GCEO Mr. Mesfin Tasew, VP of Customer Services, Mr. Michael Yared, VP of Flight Operations Capt. Yoseph Hailu, other Executive management, and guests participated and visited the facility. This state-of-the-art facility will host all Pilots and Cabin Crew and demonstrate the airline’s commitment to all Pilots and Cabin Crew. It also puts Ethiopian Airlines at the forefront of African and World Aviation. The New Flight Crew Briefing Center, which is built with world-class standards, has Crew Lounge, Crew Kitchen, ten Briefing Rooms, a Style and Image room, Clinic, a Flight Dispatch office, a Gendec office, a Duty Officers office, Cashiers and Luggage area. Phase II construction has now commenced and will have additional ten briefing rooms and facilities.
ET-STAR GRADUATION Earlier in August, 1,551 aviation professionals graduated from our newly upgraded Ethiopian Aviation University in Addis Ababa. Graduates from Rwanda, Togo, Democratic Republic of Congo, Tanzania, Uganda, and Sudan were proudly celebrated during this momentous ceremony. As Africa’s leading airline brand, we are proud of our continued commitment of investing in the continent’s growing aviation industry. Congratulating the recent graduates, Ethiopian Airlines Group CEO, Mr. Mesfin Tasew, said, “We are delighted to see youths from seven African countries completing one chapter and opening another in their aviation endeavor. ET-STAR Ethiopian Airlines Group, Boeing, and Think Young Africa celebrate the successful closing of STEM Education Program. The trio join forces to offer the program for six weeks. Coming from various parts of the country, the 48 graduates shared their experiences creating harmony at Ethiopian Aviation University. The project intends to empower the next generation in science, technology, creativity, and other hands-on skills that mould the youths to the future aviation in and beyond the country.
ET-STAR GREEN LEGACY AND BLOOD DONATION Ethiopian Express and Airport Operation Team at Semera station together with the transport office head of Afar region, participated in planting activities and planted trees at Sultan Alimirah Airport. After the plantation program on the 2nd Sep 2023. After the plantation program , the team participated in a blood donation activity.
ET-STAR FLEET AND EQUIPMENT PLANNING IN COLLABORATION WITH ETHIOPIAN AVIATION UNIVERSITY ORGANIZED AN IATA TRAINING Fleet and Equipment Planning in collaboration with Ethiopian Aviation University had organized an IATA training “Aircraft Acquisition and Financing ” course at Skylight Hotel from 24-27July2023 for 12 participants from Corporate Legal, Aircraft Engineering and Planning, Finance and Fleet & Equipment planning departments. The course covered areas like: ♦ Understand the structure and categories of a lease document ♦ Identify critical negotiation points for aircraft and equipment purchase agreements ♦ Analyze key dynamics of the financial and leasing markets ♦ Interpret the main components of purchasing and leasing contracts for new or used aircraft ♦ Avoid common pitfalls in choosing, structuring, and negotiating your agreements ♦ Identify high hidden cost areas manipulated by Lessors/OEM ♦ Learn cost saving ideas from common purchase/lease agreements practiced by the industry.

ET-STAR STAFF CORNER በዚህ ወር የመፅሄታችን እትም መጪው አዲስ አመት እንደመሆኑ “በአዲሱ አመት በስራ ገበታችን ላይ በስኬት ጎዳና እየገሰገሰ የሚገኘውን አየር መንገዳችንን ወደተሻለ ከፍታ ለማስኬድ የእኛ የአየር መንገዱ ሰራተኞች የስራ ባህላችን እንዴት ያለ መሆን ይኖርበታል ብለው ያምናሉ?” ብለን የአየር መንገዱን ሰራተኞች ጠይቀን ነበር፡፡ መልሳቸውን እንደሚከተለው እናቀርባለን፡፡ ስሜ አሻግሬ ዘርሁን ይባላል፡፡ የማገለግለው በአየር መንገድ ውስጥ ካሉት ዲፓርትመንቶች መካከል የአየር መንገዱ የጀርባ አጥንት ከሆነው ሞተርፑል ክፍል ውስጥ በሾፌርነት ነው፡፡ በመጭው የኢትዮያ ዘመን አቆጣጠር 2016 ዓ.ም ወደስኬት ጎዳና እየገሰገሰ ያለዉን አየር መንገዳችንን ወደ ተሻለ ከፍታ ለማድረስ በመጀመሪያ የአየር መንገዳችን ትልቁ ትርፍ ሰዓት (ጊዜ)ነው፡፡ ስለሆነ በአየር መንገዳችን ዉስጥ በየትኛዉም ዲፓርትመንት ዉስጥ የሚያገለግሉ ሠራተኞች በሙሉ ይህንን በማወቅ ሥራችንን ከተሰጠን የጊዜ መጠን በላይ ፈጥነን ለአገልግሎት መገኘት አለብን ። በሌላ በኩል ደግሞ ለደንበኞቻችን ዘመናዊ ምቹ የሆኑ አሠራሮችን በመፍጠር ደንበኞቻችን በአገልግሎት የሚማረኩበትን መረብ መዘርጋት። እንደአጠቃላይ ደግሞ የአየር መንገዱ ሠራተኞች እኛ በጋራ እጅና ጓንት ሆነን በትጋትና በጥራት ብሎም በጥንካሬ መሥራት እንዳለብን አምናሁ፡፡ ስለሆነም መጭው የኢትዮጵያ አዲሱ ዓመት 2016ዓ.ም አገራችን ኢትዮጵያ ከደረሰባት የሠላም እጦትና ችግር ተላቃ ወደ ፍቅር ፣ወደ ሠላምና አንድነቷ ተመልሳ አርሶአደሩም አርሶ ነጋዴውም ነግዶ ሁሉ በየዘርፉ በሠላም ከሰሜን ወደ ደቡብ ከምዕራብ ወደ ምሥራቅ በመንቀሳቀስ በጋራ አገራችንን የምናበለፅግበት ዘመን እንዲሆን በእግዚአብሔር ስም እመኛለሁ። በድጋሚ ዘመኑ የሠላም የደስታ የፍቅርና የስኬት ዘመን እንዲሆን እመኛለሁ!!!! መርከብ ረጋሳ እባላለሁ፡፡ በ GCIC ክፍል GCIC support Agent ሆኜ አገለግላለሁ፡፡ በመጀመሪያ ለሁሉም የአየር መንገዱ ሰራተኞችመልካም አዲስ ዓመት ይሁንልን፤እያንዳንዱ የኢትዮጵያ አየር መንገድ ቤተሰብ አባል በዚህ ውስብስብ የስኬት መንገድ ውስጥ ወሳኝ ግብዓት ነው። ያላሰለሰ ጥረታችን ወደ ትልቅ ከፍታ ከፍ ያደርገናል፤የይቻላል አድማሱ ማለቂያ የለውምና ወደዚህ አዲስ አመት ስንገባ፣ የበለጠ ከፍተኛ ደረጃ ላይ ለመድረስ ዕቅድ እናስቀምጥ። በዚህ አዲስ አመት መለያችን የሆነውን የፈጠራን መንፈስ ተቀብለን የምንቀጥልበት እርስ በርሳችን የምንደጋገፍበት፣ እውቀታችንን የምናካፍልበት እና ስኬትን ብቻ ሳይሆን ማይቻል የሚመስለውን የምናሳካበት ይሁንልን፡፡ ከፊት ያለው መንገድ ማለቂያ የሌላቸውን እድሎች ይዞ ይመጣል፣ ይህም በቁርጠኝነት እና በ ፈጠራችን ታግዘን አየር መንገዳችንን ወደላቀ ከፍታ ለማድረስ የያዝነውን ግብ በመምታት ሁኔታዎች የሚያቀርቡልንን እድሎች በመጠቀም ከዚህ በላይ ከፍታ ላይ ለመድረስ ግብ እንያዝ። በድጋሚ መላው የኢትዮጵያ አየር መንገድ ቤተሰብ እንኳን ለአዲሱ ዓመት በሠላም አደረሳችሁ!!
ET-STAR ሸዋፀሃይ አለሙ እባላለሁ፡፡ የሰራተኞች ካፍቴሪያ ቡድን መሪ ነኝ፡፡ በተሰጠን የስራ ድርሻ ሁሉ በቅንነት እና በታማኝነት ከልብ የምንወደውን አየር መንገዳችንን ማገልገል ከያንዳንዳችን ይጠበቃል፡ ፡እርስበርስም መከባበር እኔ እብስአንቺ ትብሽ መባባል በአጭሩ መተሳሰብ ይጠበቅብናል፡፡ ለሚቀጥለው ትውልድ የሚሆን መልካም ስራ እና ጥሩ አሻራ ማኖር ከኛ ይጠበቃል፡፡ አመሰግናለሁ!!! ናትናኤል ቴዎድሮስ እባላለሁ፡፡ የስራ ክፍል MRO/Structures ሲሆን የስራ ድርሻዬ ሲንየር ኤርክራፍት ስትራክቸርስ ቴክኒሽያን ነው፡፡ በግልፅነትና በታማኝነት ለበለጠ ነገ ዛሬን በተስፋ ፣ ለነገ ልህቀት ከልብ በየተሰማራንበት የስራ ድርሻ አየር መንገዳችንን ማገልገል ይገባል እላለሁ። እንደ አየር መንገድ MRO ባልደረባነቴ ደግሞ ከትላንት የላቀውን ዛሬ እያየሁበትን MRO ነገ የበለጠ የከፍታ ማማ ላይ ወጥቶ እስከማይ መጭውን ዘመን በጉጉት እና በተስፋ እጠብቃለሁ። መጭው አመት የሰላም፣ የፍቅር ፣ የስራ እንዲሆንልን ለመላው የስራ ባልደረቦቼና የአየርመንገዳችን ቤተሰብ እመኛለሁ። አመሰግናለሁ። አሸናፊ ዘርአይ እባላለሁ፡፡ በኢትዮጵያ አየር መንገድ የህዝብ ግንኙነት የሚድያ እና ኩነት ቡድን መሪ ነኝ፡፡ አዲሱ አመት አዳዲስ እድሎች እና ስኬቶች ይዞልን እንዲመጣ እኛ የአየር መንገዱ ውድ ሰራተኞች የቀደሙት የስራ ባልደረቦቻችን ያቆዩልንን የስራ ባህል በመጠበቅ ድርጅታችን እድገቱን አስጠብቆ እንዲጓዝ አዳዲስ ነገሮች በመፍጠር፣ የታአማኒነት እና ታታሪነት መንፈስ በመያዝ ፣ በየስራ ድርሻችን የምንታወቅበትን የደንበኞቻችንን አገልግሎት በማሳደግ ድርጅታችን ከነበረው በተሻለ ፍጥነት እንዲያድግ ይረዳናል፡፡ መልካም አዲስ አመት!
